RadioShack and Verizon Making Sweet Music Together on September 15, Cutting $100 Off of Select Smartphones

It has been almost two months since we heard about RadioShack’s new partnership with Verizon, a deal that is set to go live tomorrow.  When stores open, customers can expect to save $100 on almost any Android smartphone that they may have been eyeing from afar – including the newly released DROID Bionic.  The deal runs from tomorrow (9/15) through October 15.  There are accessory bundles to be had as well, along with a $50 discount on that other phone made by Apple.

Not a bad way to kick off the partnership.

Cheers ReDroid!

I called VZW and asked what happens if I buy a VZW phone through Radio Shack (to get the $100 incentive), and then have a problem with it.  They said I’d have to bring it to Radio Shack for service.  I can already see the two companies pointing fingers at each other, and I’m stuck holding a phone that doesn’t work.  Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Looks like both the Charge and the Thunderbolt can be had for $150 with EITHER new contract or upgrade.  Good deal.

this partnership is ruining the world…

So, the vigor and prime should be announced right after this sale ends im assuming.

This means the LG Enlighten is launching tomorrow?

So, I guess this means that Thur. Oct. 27th is the day that we will see some new phones…

    • Anonymous

This ends the 15 so anytime after that or during that we could see new phones. They want as many sales as they can get they will probably have this or another offer once the other new phones come out.

  • MattInPDX

So is this price good for people with an upgrade available or only for new customers? Anybody?

    • Johnaltman

      yes either or

Would U B able to get $100 off the purchase of the Bionic at full retail price without the contract too?

    • Anonymous

no it says with 2 year upgrade.

no it says with 2 year upgrade.

      no

If the Vigor actually comes out on 10/6, I wonder if it will be included in this offer.

Trying to get some customers to bite on the Bionic before the Prime comes out? I see you Verizon

Y don’t Verizon and the other corporate phone stores Price match?

    • Anonymous

Seriously. I want to use my damn corporate discount as well, which can only be done through the carrier. Verizon sucks with prices. They milk the teet too hard.

      • Anonymous

Because they have to pay for the phones. You want everything for free your way. Quit bitching atleast they are letting those with unlimited data be grandfathered. The price up front is tiny compared to what you pay over the 2 years of your contract.

That’s probably the most uneducated comment I’ve read on this blog. Obviously they “pay” for phones. Also, which may not be obvious to you, they mark up these prices significantly. It’s been about 5 months since the Charge was released, yet still full price. But wait, RadioShack, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, they all offer a cheaper price. But why? Hmm. Could it be Verizon trying to shake you down for more money? No way, not them. That’d be like charging you $30 for 2GB of data.

          • Anonymous

Uneducated? Are you serious? Full price doesn’t go down until atleast a year later and verizon is always more expensive that is known. My point still stands that the price up front is so small compared to what you will pay over the life of the contract. If you can’t afford it then go buy a cheaper phone or buy it from somewhere else.

Ure still being billed by VZ. Why won’t the discount work?

  • FortitudineVincimus

Hmm.. I assume this is not just for new customers, but existing that want to renew.

If so, by Oct 15 IF we have no definitive release dates on the Prime, Vigor, Dinara I “might” just jump on this.

      I may do the same.

Dear Lord! Finally some price cuts. Can someone tell me if this includes phones from Verizon Wireless itself, or just RadioShack? I don’t want to jeapordize my unlimited data by getting an upgrade from a third-party retailer.

Thats awesome, I got a buddy that manages the wireless center for radio shack in target and he said he would also give me an extra 15% off…sweet

  • Claydos66

What is a DROID Bionic 4G LTE by MotorolaHTC?

    Did Moto merge with HTC?

    • http://twitter.com/EricRees Eric Rees

That’s my favorite part of this story.

    • Zonk

I saw that too, can anyone clarify why it savs “MotorolaHTC” on that document?

  • Anonymous

Well it runs for a month so atleast you can wait a little and see what else is going to be out if you are on the fence.

  • Sankeyr

so can i go into verizon stores and get this?  or do i have to go to RadioShack?

    • Anonymous

  • Anonymous
