Pantech Breakout Headed to Verizon with 4G LTE on September 22

The Pantech Breakout is Verizon’s next 4G LTE phone to follow the DROID Bionic and is looking like the option for anyone interested in having high data speeds without having to pay upwards of $300 up front. We gave you a quick preview of the specs on this phone a few weeks back, but now have the full and official spec sheet to tighten up any loose ends.  The Breakout won’t blow you away in this day and age with its hardware – I’m not sure it was built for that though.  At some point, Verizon was going to have to offer affordable 4G LTE phones and this looks like it will be the first.

With its 1GHz single-core processor, front and rear cameras, 4″ screen, DLNA support and Android 2.3, it’s actually on par with most of the LTE phones on the market.  In fact, other than the Bionic, it’ll be the only phone running Gingerbread – yikes.

Here is a quick look at Pantech’s take on an Android UI:

You can download the user manual for it below.

And if you do decide to buy one, be sure you are holding it the right way (hah):

Cheers ___!

Its a no win situation. You either drop $300 for a high device that will be overshadowed within a month, or you buy something for less that you KNOW is lower end.

Personally, as an Eris owner, I’d take this is a heartbeat. But that’s not saying much, I guess.

Will there ever be another Vanilla Android device on VZW besides the OG Droid? It’s crazy, you can’t even get an entry level cheap device without some stupid skin on it…………….sigh

I’m about to explode! This is just ridiculous. It’s like Verizon is purposely releasing shitty phones just to piss customers off. And when it does release a good phone, it’s for the low, low price of $300. I’ve been on Verizon for 8 years and have never been so angry at the selection of phones. I might as well shove my upgrade up my ass

This has specs on par with the i4 and yet it wont run anywhere near as smooth as an iphone.

Sad the only phone they make with a 4 inch screen and lte is a pantech. Wish they would make 1 high end phone with a 4 inch screen and lte.

  • Lumpysherman

Tons of VZW bloatware, limited RAM…Hmmmm, they’re giving this phone away?

    • Jak_341

Verizon has really stepped up the mediocre factor when it comes to phones lately. Nothing that impresses. And where is the Prime?!?!

  • Djlowproz

how much will this phone cost $250…$200 on a 2year upgrade

  • Anonymous

Wow.  There isn’t a “Prime FTW” comment yet.

” In fact, other than the Bionic, it’ll be the only phone running Gingerbread – yikes.  ”

Yikes is an understatement. It is utterly sad that this phone will launch w/ gingerbread while “Top tier” phones still don’t have it.

This phone is called the Breakout because you will like it as much as you would like getting a rash, lol. This phone is worth no more than $50. Don’t be a dummy, don’t buy this phone please.

Funny…it has the specs of all the other 4G phones other than the Bionic but it’s considered lower end. What does that make the Thunderbolt, Charge and Revolution then?

    • Lumpysherman

Ummm, low end as well? :)

    • LionStone

Its the low end of the 4G devices…

I generally use more of an overhand close fisted grip…and usually higher up towards the end, rather than down at the base… so I can use my thumb on the tip….er, I mean top….(But, it all depends on the thickness of the Pentile)
