Samsung DROID Prime Logo [Unofficial]

When the Samsung Nexus Prime started to receive a lot of coverage around these parts, one of our readers decided to create an awesome logo that could be used during future stories.  Since that phone is now being rumored as the DROID Prime, he went back to the drawing board and created this little black and red Optimus for your viewing pleasure.

We still are not ready to jump on the idea that this SCH-i515 Samsung device will be DROID branded, but are definitely under the impression that it will still make its way to Verizon in the very near future in some form.  Especially since it could be the first device to run Ice Cream Sandwich.  Rumors suggest an October release; we would gladly accept that, however, November is a much more likely time frame.

Cheers again Nate!

I really want this phone to be a nexus and not a droid

  • Dgwood12

Looks more decepticon-ish now and a lot less like a prime…

    • James_Ever

That’s what I was thinking, taking out the blue makes me see Megatron not Optimus Prime.

  • Rizzidy

I like the old one better.  Just take the ugly X out from the background.

  • Yagermeister

Who here actually thinks that Verizon / Motorola would pay for licensing rights to the Transformer series AS WELL AS the Star Wars series for one phone? Not I as the price for the phone would have to be astronomical. I can understand paying for DROID because it can be split over many phones (and has already). I personally do not think it will be called Droid Prime…Maybe Nexus Prime that way they skirt having to pay two franchises versus only one.

  • Anonymous

I still don’t think Verizon will actually get it.  I think the logo should be Trollface with Droid eyes.

  • Anonymous

I thought of this earlier this morning, and like it more and more – Nexus DROID. This way, Verizon can still have the Droid marketing team do its thing, and we can still have a Nexus phone. I’m hoping that somewhere along the lines the names just got jumbled and we started hearing about the Droid Prime instead.

  • Adam

If it is a DROID, I’m pretty sure it won’t have an optimus logo… that’s got copywrite probs all over it. That said, it is a pretty fun little droid.

    • Nate Surber

Totally agree.  That’s why it’s just for fun.  That’s the joy of fan art.

Bah, real geeks would somehow incorporate Ultraverse hero Prime.

  • Nate Surber

    Nice.  Those are pretty sweet.

Wondering what Google, VZ, Samsung, LTE, Android, Ice Cream, and HD, all have in common? Find out in November….

I will be very pissed if we get a Droid branded ICS phone with a likely locked bootloader. I just want a nexus and I want it on Verizon dammit!!!

    • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

but its gotta conform to there policies and restrictions if you want it to run on there network.  So locked bootloader it is. NEXUS devices are development phones for each Android release, SO branding it as a DROID would say “this is NOT a development device” with phones following after having similar specs.

Verizon got the Incredible instead of the NEXUS ONE if you all recall, it was a pretty good trade off, although developers and CM fanboys would disagree.

    • JDub

Even if it does come with an unlocked bootloader, who says google is going to release the source code for ICS. They have been holding on to the Honeycomb source and just give devs an emulator to develop Apps on.

What about the OG droid that you all love? Wasn’t that vanilla android with a droid bandred name?

  • Anonymous

well i must say this image ie vadt improvement over the oroginal. I know im troling but simpmicity does count for something. Nice job mate!

    • Nate Surber

      Thanks MB!

  • EC8CH

He should be more “bloated” looking than the Nexus Prime.

    • Nate Surber

      +1

        lol

  • EC8CH

That’s the Evil Prime… he must be defeated!

  • @dj_abe_k

verizons version is most likely the unofficial nexus prime. its their own mock up of it. sprint and tmo will get the vanilla experience that ppl are looking for. verizon cant stand the fact they dont have control of your updates and such. they rule the air. im bummed out bc i left verizon for sprint on the nexus s 4g deal, but sprint will be announcing their lte network soon. so i could live with wimax for now, its plenty fast.

cheezy at best! what is the need to rip off entertainment characters?

  • Anonymous

That is one bad *ss Droid!

  • Anonymous

Here’s hoping it stays Nexus.  Besides, I prefer the logo of Nate’s that I just picked for my Avatar.

  • Anonymous

November is fine as long as they let me early upgrade much like I did with the DX since my contract isn’t up until March 2012.

    • Anonymous

I am up for an upgrade October 28. Which device are you getting? It will be very interesting because big red will have a lot of devices to choose from.

  • http://twitter.com/Rocko9999 Rocko Smith

Horrible. Looks like a bad 80’s kids t shirt.

So much for the “Nexus” part of the logo… foreshadowing perhaps?

  • Mike

That’s some uninspired Fugliness. Given the evidence I’d have to say Tim-o-Tato designed it.

    • http://www.droid-life.com Tim-o-tato

      Low blow

      • Onox37

He didn’t design it. I tried to give that kid tips on graphic design but he shrugged it off and flashed my phone without warning. All in all, good trade off.

  • Mctypething

Screw the logo! Give us some details on the phone coming to Verizon!

  • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

Now thats more like it.  The last one reminded me of a Gundam X with NEXUS “X” in the background.  This is definitely nicer!

    • Nate Surber

Actually thought about doing that.  Nice Vigor Renders BTW.

      • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

Thanks!  I’m working on making them more high res that way they can be a wallpaper.  Not having much luck on wallpaper backgrounds though

Give me a Nexus Prime with LTE on Verizon and I would be the happiest person alive.

  • dima

Gonna go get that tattooed on my derriere

    • Nate Surber

Cool.  I’ll send you the line art for the stencil.

Gladly accept an October release is a massive understatement in this year of Droid delays.

    • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

The year of iPhone on Verizon, what did you expect?

  • Moto_AgentX50

Successor to DROID Charge? No way..This shouldn’t be DROID Branded, the bionic and droid HD will over shadow it..it needs to stand out and be the one and only NEXUS on verizon.

    • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

Except one problem, not everyone knows what a NEXUS is, so Verizon may brand it as a DROID so people know what the device is.  The fact everyone knows that a DROID has Android and has access to the marketplace and all that would make it a no brainer for such a new device with an unfamiliar name to come to Verizon.  It would solidify the reason why its an exclusive, even if it is just by name and will arrive on other carriers under another name.  Maybe Sprint’s will be NEXUS EPIC PRIME X 4G lol  seriously, did you guys see that there Galaxy SII has an absurd name

Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch….  Who is in charge of naming at Sprint, seriously?
