Another HTC Thunderbolt RUU Leaked, Version 2.11.605.0 Of Gingerbread (Updated)

Just a couple days ago, an RUU (version 2.10.605.1) was leaked for the HTC Thunderbolt. Well the gifts keep coming, and over at XDA, a user has leaked another RUU. The newest version is 2.11.605.0, and it is only pointing at the still imminent release of Gingerbread for all you extremely patient Thunderbolt owners.

If you flash, you will lose root, and it will wipe your device. If you want to save root, wait for a little while until a developer can work on it, and package it up properly. Be safe.

Download RUU

Update:  Rooted version available here.

Via: XDA

Cheers Joseph!

Is the camera working in this one I flashed the 2.10 and can’t the camera working at all any input would be great on how to fix/ if this ruu will fix.

  • Pervier56

I’m using ROM Manager running clockwork recovery and I flashed the rooted version of 2.11.605.0 Of Gingerbread (Updated) and now my phone won’t activate – it’s like it can’t find a verizon cdma 3G signal. How do I fix that.

  • SMH

After updating to Cyanogenmod 7 the signal seem to be not as strong and im stuck in 1x, any fix to bump that up to 3g or 4g at least on my rooted TB ? already fixed the endless reboot glitch + no signal at all, now Im just needing the speed yo?

  • B Wheazy

I hope this fixes my voicemail notification, doesnt show up in my tool bar since the last leak.

*****UPDATE*****   HOW TO USE THE FILE IF YOU’RE NOT ROOTED ********UPDATE********

1.)Download the RUU from the internet onto your desktop.
2.)Attach your Bolt to your computer using the “charge only” option with USB debugging enabled.
3.)Insure that your Bolt is AT LEAST 30% charged, then run the file on your computer.
    4.)You will now have Gingerbread

The process does take about 15/20 minutes. I haven’t found any problems yet.

  • Jarrough

in all honesty, i hear nothing but complaints from GB (official carrier version) users with other handsets. i’m not all that excited but wouldn’t mind some new features.

  • Jbk7890

How does a leaked ROM relate to when Verizon will update the Thunderbolt phone?

  • Cadillachanley

    downloaded the file now what

    • Anonymous

      My thoughts exactly

  • Anonymous

I see now there’s an update for rooted users. If I weren’t rooted, how would you go about flashing this?

  • SeattleRain

so how do you install this?  I downloaded the file but its an exe not a zip?

and how do i get the 3.0 lockscreen?

  • ProjecTruth

I have been debating whether or not to root my phone, I’ve been doing a whole lot of research and I want to completely backup my phone as it is before I start tinkering.. Can someone please recommend a good program to do this, or send me to a forum that will explain it for non-rooted users.. I feel stupid for asking, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.. Thanks in Advance!

Is there anyway that I can get this to flash without wiping my device clean?

  • Anonymous

I realize there are various benefits to flashing new radios, rooting, and flashing ROM’s of ones choice… But I’ve tried it so many times it hurts to say the number and every single time it fails – epically. It takes 3-4 hours of my precious time to root, flash the appropriate ROM, then flash the radio, which is vaguely described as being designed to work with that particular ROM. Then I find that the whole process was in vain, my phone turns into a 0 bars brick, and I have to unroot just to make it a functioning phone again. The whole process even with easy root/unroot, is just a massive pain in the ass. Why manufactuers lock things down so tight idk, but I just wish they would have a “Boot with UI overlay loaded, Boot with vanilla android” option. How hard is that???
Even when flashing a new radio it kills OTA updates, so you have to wipe the damned phone just to be able to get a newer radio: which again takes around 1-2 hours. Ridiculous!!! Ok, im done ranting. Still dont like my tbolt!!

I’m commenting to make you know what a fantastic experience my cousin’s child gained going through your site. She learned lots of details, with the inclusion of what it’s like to possess a very effective coaching mood to make other folks without problems master a variety of complicated topics. You truly did more than my expected results. I appreciate you for showing such interesting, safe, edifying and even cool thoughts on this topic to Janet.

All these leaks make me feel more and more like Motorola is becoming the new Apple. There has been virtually nothing leaked for the D3 in the past month+ except a pretty much useless chinese SBF.

I’m betting they release the OTA Thursday.

  • Anonymous

To add to the rumor mill my own source said this could be the final build. I know, who am I? just a Serious Androiddict/writer with their own sources. So, I never miss a thing. I decided to put this on one my Thunderbolts as I wasn’t willing to lose root, I am extremely content with my Das Bamf 3.0 RC 4.9 rom with  Full Nex theme. To me its the best of all the leaks but, that’s an early judgement we will see.

I’m pretty sure there is now a Rooted version of this released with busybox and Super User…

12 hours with heavy usage of Google reader/several emails sent/six 7-10 minute phone calls/~40 minutes of internet browsing not to mention facebooking and 340 text messages sent/received. And guess what, still 48% battery :P

CM7 1.6.1 how I love you so :) Convinced 3 thunderbolt owners at the verizon store to go home and root via revolutionary when they got home ;) Together we can root the world!

  • Kianjudah

Serious question: Is HTC ever going to do anything about the crappy battery life of the Tbolt? Anything??? Even a chance??????

    • http://twitter.com/samari711 samari711

it’s all the 4G radios at this point, so until the firmware for 4G bets better, or VZW switches to VoLTE and they can shut off the CDMA antenna, probably not.

      • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

I don’t think that is the whole reason HTC has always been one of the worst in regards to battery

        • http://twitter.com/BHagey1 Brandon Hagey

I wish i had battery issues with mine. At this point i feel like everyone is trolling. My retarded sister with tons of apps that use background data and no extended battery never complained once.

Anyone know what the difference between this and the last leak is? Like what changes were made?

  • venom

    why is it a .exe?

    • Jason Lee

It’s an RUU that you run from the computer I believe.

      • Anonymous

It is an executable file. But you can flash the RUU from HBoot. You’ll need to hold down the up volume key when you press power to start the phone. If you’ve named the file correctly, your phone will detect it and ask if you want to update. You’ll choose yes and that’s that.

        • Davidshackelford5

So what do you name it?

          • Anonymous

PG05IMG.zip and make sure ur not naming it .zip.zip
Edit:Also, make sure not to do this on a low battery, because if it dies mid flash, ur probably not gonna like the outcome.

          • Anonymous

VERY good point about the battery!! I usually make sure my phone is above 75% battery before I start flashing a ROM just to be safe.

          • Davidshackelford5

Didn’t work… I did everything you all said.

          • Anonymous

Cmon man, a little more information than that would make our response much more constructive. did you get into hboot? did it try to load the PG05IMG.zip? Usually you have to let it work for about 30 seconds or so. If it says no image found and lets you navigate hboot, you either named it wrong, or its not on the root of ur sd card.

          • Davidshackelford5

It’s on the root and in hboot it says no image I named it exactly how you said.

          • Guest

You didn’t just rename it .zip right? You need to zip it up and then you are good, if you just rename it .zip it isn’t going to work.

          • Davidshackelford5

            Explain?

          • Anonymous

whoops, replied to guest instead of you. just posting this so you get the notification email.

          • Anonymous

Ahhh, that was a step even i didnt know about. Usually i am able to find the ruu already zipped. Didnt even consider the fact that this wouldnt be zipped already. Hopefully someone can chime in on this for you cuz i dont know exactly how it needs to be zipped. I can head you in the right direction by saying you need a program like 7zip to do it, though.

          • Davidshackelford5

            Any help on this…..

          • Davidshackelford5

            Thanks a lot….

          • Anonymous

You’ll want to name it: PG05IMG.zip

And one other thing incase you didn’t already know, make sure it is on the root of your SD card (not in any folders). That is where your phone will look for the update file.

  • Jonyauger

Wow. I have not complained once about the wait for GB but this is getting annoying. However the reason why I love HTC is they will not release a bug filled build. They know they rushed the bolt out the door to make Verizon happy so I think they are trying to fix all the wrongs with this phone. It truly is a great phone even without a dual core. I will not root Jus because all I would use it for is freeze the bloat n slightly over clock it. I have spb shell and love it n runs flawless. Still have over 300mbs free RAM with that hog running so root is not useful for me. So I will continue to wait it out.

    • Anonymous

Nothing wrong with staying stock!  But I just gotta say…. you are missing out on how smooth these bad boys have been running! But I don’t think it should be too much longer till you get it officially.

  • Anonymous

Has anyone here tried one of the leaks in the last week?  If we install these leaks will we still be able to get the official without going through Hboot, Root, etc etc etc

    • tomNasty

I have and i flashed it just like a rom…..the battery life is waaay better. The only bug i see is the VM notification switches to and from a message icon

  • netfoo

It’s nice to know that the bolt will finally get some GB love.  Who wants to bet that once HTC finalizes their build; that it will take Verizon 2 freaking months to add their bloatware to it; before releasing it?  I know; I need to root and load CM7!.  I ran CM on my OG and it was good for a while!

    • Anonymous

Been running gb on my Bolt for a few weeks (i know, i lagged it haha) and its been amazing. battery life isnt as good as it was on my previous Froyo rom, but thats some bug that was introduced in the beta version of Gingeritis 3D im running, as the version just before it had reportedly great battery life. The best part is, my Bolt looks like the EVO3D/Sensation!

      • babadush

    • Anonymous

For the record, I still believe most of the Thunderbolt battery complaints are blown way out of proportion. Battery life isn’t phenomenal, but it’s also not terrible.

That being said, I LOL’D SO HARD. Epic win.

      • Anonymous

I totally have to disagree with you.. I think it is absolutely horrible. Unless I disable autosync BackGround Data my phone won’t make to 4 pm with out a charge. My normal work day is 7 – 4 . I unplug my phone around 6:30 in the morning.. I am only syncing my personal gmail and my work gmail…

        • JR

i make it thru a work day easily. mine used to die within 4 hours, and then one magical day after a Restart, it just started working properly and has been great ever since.  I recently got a warranty replacement for a screen issue and the refurb replacement lasts just as long.

I laughed at it too.  My TB battery is fine as long as I have good serivce. Go somewhere where your signal is terrible and it’s bad.  But, that’s true for all phones though it seems a little worse on the TB.  Oh, and of course, when you have LTE you can watch the battery go down.  But, first gen LTE hardware, what do you expect.

        • LionStone

I work in a low signal area, 1X. I drop it in CDMA only and I get 15-20 hrs, depending if I turn off mobile network. Sometimes I need it on and when I don’t I have gotten up to 22 hrs. This is under low-med usage because I don’t use it as much because it takes longer to do things. Yet, I can still send high quality pics and videos, text, calls..it does last in a low signal area.

          • Anonymous

I was in a shoddy service area for the most of the day for a few days and it didn’t last as well.  I could still get through the day but it was cutting it close.  At my home/town I get perfect service everywhere I go and can easily go 24+.  If I leave it off the charger overnight, I could go at the very least through the next day.  ED-DO everywhere I go.
But, the one place I don’t get good service in my home town is by friend’s house.  The damn thing gets HOT trying to pull in service and the battery goes down pretty steadily.
I’m not doubting you, I get fantastic battery life with this phone.  Just saying, mileage may vary.

If you want the new 3.0 elements you can get them in the latest roms.

        • Anonymous

Several of the BAMF roms are running 3.0 or include elements of it. I have tried several of them and they are by far the nicest roms I’ve used! I would highly recommend them!!

I rooted a few days ago. Best decision of my Thunderbolt owning life.

      • Anonymous

        What rom?

        • Indecision

CM 7, Although I have been looking for other roms but from what I have read I am safe with CM7 for now. I want to try others but when I go to read up on them they just dont seem as stable as CM7. Might just be me being overly cautious.

          • Anonymous

I understand your being cautious, but I’ve been running all these roms for a long time now and there is no need to worry. Give the Das Bamf roms a try I think you will love them. Either Uber Bamf or the new 2.2.

Make a backup of Cyanogenmod and do a good wipe and give it a try, I’m sure you will be happy. It is so easy to flash a rom that you can try all of them and find what you like. Just make backups as you go.

            Enjoy!

          • Anonymous

I am finishing up flashing Uber BAMF as we speak (or type… lol!) I like what I was reading about, so I thought I’d give it a try. Their other roms are great, so I have a feeling I’ll love this one!

Just my personal opinion, but I like BAMF WAY better than CM7! Not that CM is bad, but I like Sense… especially 3.0.

          • HydroRadio

I agree. After being ever so patient, I waited and waited. But they dropped that Revolutionary, I decided to go all in and root mine. I’ve tried about seven roms but the BAMF Sense 3.0 RC 4.9 rom has been so good for me that I’ll probably never switch. I’m going about 12 hours a day on 4G, Bluetooth on, GPS enabled, and background data running before I need to charge.

Root, it’ll be the best move you ever make!!!
