White DROID Incredible 2 Headed to Best Buy August 21

When we first reported news that Best Buy would carry the white DROID Incredible 2 some two days ago, a release date for it was still up the in air.  Well, folks – August 21 is the day.  You can head into a store on Sunday with $149 in your pocket and walk out with this BBY exclusive color.  Aside from Android version and its shiny white skin though, there are no real differences between this and the original Incredible 2 (same processor, dual cameras, no LTE).  It will start-up for the first time out of the box with Android 2.2 on it which we’re finding to be odd.  Hopefully the Gingerbread update is made available immediately following, since the last thing we need is another fragmentation bullet point to start over something as silly as a color change.

White DROID Incredible 2 by HTC on Verizon Wireless Network Lands Exclusively at Best Buy on Aug. 21

MINNEAPOLIS, August 18, 2011 – More exclusives are coming to Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores, this time with the white version of the DROID Incredible 2 by HTC on the Verizon Wireless network. The smartphone launches nationwide in Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores and online at BestBuy.com/Mobile on Sunday, Aug. 21.

Similar to the original DROID Incredible 2 that launched in April, the white version features the Android 2.2 operating system, 4″ WVGA touch screen, 8.0MP digital camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera and Mobile Hotspot capability. It retails for $149.99 with new, two-year activation.

Best Buy Mobile has set a precedent of bringing exclusive phones and colors to the market, supporting its commitment to delivering a better choice of phones and networks. Best Buy Mobile is also focused on delivering straightforward pricing featuring no mail-in rebates; impartial, informed advice with a non-commissioned sales staff; and someone to be there for the life of the phone through key services like Walk Out Working and Geek Squad Black Tie Protection.

released with froyo is good. I’m pretty sure revolutionary only supports froyo….. so… root!

The gingerbread update  on my black dinc2 started IMMEDIATELY after i got the phone setup.  I actually panicked and sent it into airplane mode so i could root it (alpharevX ftw!)

So unless white phones get updates differently, this isnt gonna affect fragmentation

I in addition to my guys ended up looking at the best tips and hints from the website then the sudden developed a horrible suspicion I never thanked the web site owner for those strategies. All the women appeared to be for this reason warmed to learn them and now have in actuality been taking advantage of these things. I appreciate you for really being considerably helpful and for considering this kind of incredibly good useful guides most people are really eager to understand about. My sincere apologies for not expressing appreciation to earlier.

Why do all the white android phones i’ve seen still have a black front. That is the dumbest and ugliest thing i’ve ever seen in my life. make the entire front white or whatever color you make the back.

Because a screen surrounded by white is extreamly hard to make look good without light leaking.

Then do what Apple did and don’t release it until you can fix that problem.

Talked to and showed BB Mobile Manager here in Mission Viejo, Ca this article and he said “Nope, thats not coming for at least 3 weeks because I know everything that coming in the next two weeks!”  I said “I’ll see you Sunday to pick it up.” and smiled.  Also I highly recommend the Dell Inspiron 17R for 749.00 at Best Buy(cheaper than Dell).

I suggest that if you are contemplating buying this phone, switching carriers for it or upgrading to it, that you do a thorough search of the quality of the phone and if there are any substantial issues or defects. I currently have the phone and I can tell you that there are. Also, this phone is a beta max in comparison to what will be available in the closely following weeks. I would wait.. Hindsight is 20/20 and I’m giving you mine.

Maybe you got a lemon because most people have no issues with their phones. This isn’t the tb we are talking about lol now that is a beta phone.

I hope so, but there is much evidence to support otherwise. Just Google “Droid incredible 2 signal issues.” There are plenty of people experiencing the same problems. The real trouble is that there is not enough, at least yet, who have come forward so the companies (Verizon/HTC) won’t do much to rectify the situation… which is kinda a load of crap. My business revolves around my phone and me being on the go. So the dropped calls, loss of signal, crashing, and text failure doesn’t do much to help make me money… so I can in turn pay my phone bill. See where I’m going with this? Moral of the story is basically, don’t be the 1st to buy a product and do your homework. I wasn’t the first, but I definitely didn’t do enough research. a mistake I will never repeat.

I don’t understand why they wait soooo long to release a different. Do it at the same time! This just makes people who would have gotten a white one mad.

lol – got my dark version at Costco for $30 (including a carrying case and a car charger).  That price difference will net you a 1 year Executive membership at costco.

Wasn’t this in the Sept. issue? Hopefully that means the Bionic’s Aug. 26th release date is more real than we though?
