Verizon Rep: DROID Incredible Gingerbread Update has been Delayed

According to VZW support, the Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4) update for the DROID Incredible has been delayed.  No exact reason was given for the push back, but they could have discovered a bug through an initial test group.  They are definitely headed back to the lab for “more testing.”

Sorry folks, we thought you would all have it by the end of this week.

*Note – If you are rooted and want to enjoy the update now, head over to XDA.

Cheers Mike and everyone else!

My Incredible just got the OTA gingerbread update tonight!

  • My husband and i felt absolutely peaceful when Chris managed to deal with his web research while using the ideas he acquired out of your blog. It is now and again perplexing just to find yourself making a gift of tips and hints that the others may have been trying to sell. And we discover we’ve got you to be grateful to for that. The entire explanations you made, the easy website menu, the friendships you assist to instill – it is mostly astonishing, and it’s leading our son and our family understand that content is brilliant, which is extraordinarily fundamental. Thanks for everything!

Allow me to take this opportunity to thank all the developers out there. OMFGB allows me to have Gingerbread on my Incredible after rooting. OMFGB ftw!

  • Gritchu

Wow, last i heard they weren’t even going to update the original Incredible to Gingerbread. Delayed or not, it’s good to hear it’s still on the table.

    Complete this statement:

If you didn’t see this coming…

  • Luckyr1981

    SURPRISE!!!!

  • thats all i hear lately is Gingerbread Delayed.

Still have to wait on official GB on my Droid 2…

if adding in each company’s crappy bloatware bugs the OS why not just put straight Google Gingerbread on them…oh wait that would only make sense…NO NOT THAT SENSE!

Fix it and distribute already, sheesh going to be waiting for this and be on my new phone by the time they give my current phone the update.

From a Verizon Rep Job Interview:

Interviewer: How comfortable are you making excuses for delays?
Interviewee: That’s an interesting question. I’ll need a few days to think about it, but I’m sure I can give you a perfect answer quite soon.
    Interviewer: You’re hired.

Both the DX and DX2 were messed up by Gingerbread (unless you consider daily random reboots a feature). Its unclear whether Google messed up the OS or Moto did with their Blur, but it has been a big disappointment.

Undamn real.  What is the problem here?

  • less testing, more fixing.

  • Jak_341

What is wrong with Gingerbread? Seems Moto and HTC can’t get it to run right.

    • PSU_DI

Get rid of the Sense UI and Blur and then Gingerbread will work just fine.  It’s the software that the OEMs put on that causes all the problems.

  • And what happened last time we believed a rep? Although delays with Verizon is nothing new.

  • Perhaps they want to wait for Thunderbolt to have its Gingies firsties?

  • Patrick :-)

    (Shakes head) Dissapointing

  • :/

  • Well, that is pretty odd seeing as how I am running it right now. Granted its the rooted version, but it is extremely fast and stable. I imagine their delay is related to the radio, seeing how is that isn’t available yet.

  • I sure hope ICS doesnt have this many problems

    Shocking
