Toshiba Thrive 8GB Honeycomb Tablet Only $370 On Amazon

Seems as though Honeycomb tablets are seeing price drops across the board recently. Many have said the Toshiba Thrive has been their go to tablet, putting it above the Motorola XOOM, and even the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab. Let us point out again, that this is the 8 GB version, which might be a deal breaker for some people.

With the second generation of these devices on the horizon, it is possible we can even see more price cuts. Which only means one thing, happier consumers. How does the Toshiba Thrive stack up in your eyes to other Honeycomb tablets that are available? Anybody thinking of picking one up?

At Costco there is now an $80 instant rebate for the 32GB Acer Iconia A500 10″ tablet making the final price $350 ($349.99).

Yea I picked it up and it was like a tank compared to the other tablets…I didn’t need the extra bulk and ports…been test driving the Gtab10.1, well actually its past two weeks now so I guess I bought it. Quite happy with it, its what I think of when I think ‘tablet’, thin, light and fast.

gTablet, $260. Incredible amount of tablet for the price. Cons would be no rear facing camera and only 512MB RAM.

Had this.  Took it back.  Got a SGT 10.1.  The TT was too heavy and thick for me and the software was just not there yet.  SGT seems to be more focused on the user experience (MHO) and I’ve enjoyed my SGT w/ $100 off at Staples.  For everything that both the TT and SGT have, the SGT did it better.  Of course the SGT is missing all of those nice ports though.  I’m learning to live without them.

Why doesn’t the Asus Transformer get a mention?  It’s had the best sales of any honeycomb tablet because it combines good quality at a very reasonable price.  So it must be the go-to table for a lot of people.

Exactly!  (Posted from my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 16GB for $399)

Cheers! as soon as i saw the price drop on amazon i had to share! i am in the market for an android tablet and i was going to get the ASUS but when a friend told me the thrive had a USB port and the ASUS did not it got me thinking, is it true the ASUS has no full USB port!?

Totally agree!  The Asus Transformer is a great tablet and a great value.

I’m really not a big fan of the metal around the camera, it throws the whole design off.

Speaking of tablets, Target has a great deal if your’e looking at the Acer Iconia Tab.  You get a $100 gift card when you pick up a 16GB model!  I’ve been considering it, but I really like the ASUS TF with the keyboard option.  What to do?

      Buy both!

    • Omega Man

The keyboard dock was the main selling point for me.

I bought the iconia tab w the $100 promo from staples. I hesitated because of the acer name but i gotta say, so far so good…great, actually. Much to my gf’s displeasure, i can’tput it down. For $300, its got all the bells and whistles as the more expensive ones and it was so easy to root! This is what got me to then FINALLY root my og droid because i wanted to wifi tether. Rooting the phone was easy enough but after spending hours trying the bluetooth method, i came across an app called barnacle. Worked on the first try! (Og droid uses ad-hoc…an old method). I just thought i’d throw the stuff in about the wifi tether in case it helps someone else reading this. But back to the iconia, yah im happy with it. I havent tried the hdmi out yet but glad i have it. I havent used the flash on the camera but glad i have it…surprisingly, the asus doesn’t …wtf?

I got one of these from my Toshiba rep and I could never justify spending the money for this tablet.  Don’t get me wrong, it has a lot of great hardware features, but it is just not as solid and fluid as the Galaxy Tabs.  Again though, if you want ports, this is your tablet, but if you really need/want ports grab a laptop or netbook.

Or you grab a Nook Color and throw Honeycomb on it.  :)
