MotoDev Site Outs Official DROID Bionic Specs: OMAP4, RAM and Screen Size All Confirmed?

We started hearing murmurs of the DROID Bionic popping up over at the MotoDev site yesterday as its former self, but ran into a bunch of “Access Denied” pages while snooping.  Thankfully, the folks at MDW were able to give us a gateway into the site, so that we could see for ourselves and then share with all of you.

Before we start talking about what we are seeing, we’ll quickly shoot down the comments that are surely going to arise regarding the model number.  Yes, we realize that the model number that is showing up says XT865 which is the old Bionic.  Once you see the specs though, you’ll quickly realize that the model number is wrong and that you should ignore it.

Update:  Since we’ve seen enough emails about it, we thought we’d address it even further.  Yes, we realize that the old model number of XT865 is listed.  We totally get that.  What you have to realize though, is the specs that are listed, are for the NEW Bionic.  The old version was a Tegra 2 with just 512MB of RAM.  The new build of XT875 is an OMAP with 1GB of RAM.  The Moto folks just haven’t flipped the switch on the new model number yet, but have on the specs.

Update 2:  It looks like Moto pulled the specs, which is not surprising.  And now you know why our “click here” link is an image taken from the site that will be available forever.

So, what do we have?

  • 1GHz OMAP4430 dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4.3″ qHD screen
  • 8MP rear camera (shoots 1080p video)
  • VGA front camera (told you that 2MP was a bad rumor)
  • HDMI 1.4
  • Android 2.3.4
  • Webtop capabilities
  • 4G LTE

No real big surprises, assuming these stand at release.  Still a beast though.

To see the full list of specs and how it stands up to the DROID3 and Photon 4G, click here.

More at the MotoDev site.

Cheers Craig and Clint!

Isn’t it now the XT875 this may be the old version..

      • DJW

        I think your right

  • MOTOFAIL

The line has been drawn… who will go for the Vigor and who will stay loyal to the SGSII?

…or who will just settle for the Bionic and be left behind…

    • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

      Vigor is the tablet

    • Anonymous

I’ll get the Bionic and be happy with its equal performance and LTE, thanks.

  • NSBJJ

If the Bionic would have come out in early August I would have gotten it.  But since it’s going to be September I am going to wait for the HTC Vigor.  Sorry Moto.

    • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Vigor is the flyer I beleive

  • Anonymous

X2 screen? I might pass and see how nice the Sammy 2 is.

Give us something here. How about stereo speakers?

Looks like an lte Atrix to me.

  • Firelight

BAH! Moto screwed the pooch here. There is NOTHING characteristically unique that just makes this phone standout above all the other noise in the Droid crowd. This was supposed to be THE PHONE and the frikkin D3 has identical specs…. what’s the point?

Tweak it to 1.2GHz – make that front-shooter better – HD screen – I don’t care – but this: with all the build-up = FAIL.

** If this phone had NEVER been pre-sold as the second-coming of Droid it would be a right-decent product – but Motorola has dug a hole too big on this one **

    • Firelight

Yes – LTE is a nice feature – but not worth an additional $100 on the phone price when I’m in an area w/o LTE right now (eastern NC). Like I said – it’s not a BAD product – Moto is just not bringing the “special sauce” like we were told in January.  If ANY of this had launched in May – damn straight it would have been a beast. But it didn’t and it’s not.

      • Tabe

Agreed on the LTE thing. People make such a big whoop over it and most of the people I know with it don’t even use it due to the battery hogging! I don’t need LTE. 3G does just fine for me.

      • Tabe

      • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

What do you mean its not a beast? This is a dual core 4g 1gb of ram ddr2 what did you expect?quad core people are unreal

        • Lakerzz

          That’s exactly what I was thinking…

        • Anonymous

no we were just hoping for a bump in processor speed. 1ghz seems lazy

          • Anonymous

Right because modest overclocking is an impossibility. It’s not like this is a slow phone anyway, it has one of the fastest processors available, even at 1 GHz.

          • Anonymous

i was being sarcastic. if it has a locked bootloader it will be an impossibility

          • Anonymous

Just like roms and overclocking on the Droid X is an impossibility?  Oh wait.

I don’t think you understand the definition of sarcasm.

          • Anonymous

what is your problem? are you looking for a fight? getting all upset because i said 1ghz was lazy? it’s a phone simma down now

          • Anonymous

So because I debate your claims I’m looking for a fight?  No, I’m just tired of all the nonsense and whining.

        • angelface

lol could not agree more moto cant make this phone so good what will happen with dinara when it comes out they will say dammmm this dinara device does not have the great specs etc. Let hem hate on moto as long as they want I LOVE MOTOROLLA AND THEIR BUILT QUALITY AND THEIR TECHNOLOGY BETTER THAN EVERYBODY ELSE

      • Anonymous

This is a solid upgrade over the Atrix and especially old Bionic, there is no other phone better than this currently out nor will there be for some time.  Sorry no, the GS2 is not better unless you absolutely must have that AMOLED display.

        • angelface

bionic has the edge over the sammy and a lot of people does not like the colors on the sammy

  • Bigsike

I did find one good thing hidden in the specs….it’s not an Iphone :P

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=716789798 Lonnie Kerchief

Well, something isn’t right in the specs for at least one of the devices. First off.. pixel density is rated in PPI, not DPI. Secondly, if all 3 devices have the same resolution, but the Droid 3 has a smaller physical screen, then it’s not possible for all 3 phones to have the same “DPI” (should be PPI). I’m not calling this “false” at all, it’s just not accurate.

    • Anonymous

You’re correct about the numbers however DPI stands for dots per inch which is just another term for pixels per inch since one dot is one pixel.  DPI is usually used in reference to print material however.

  • Anonymous

Not sure why anybody would want a Motorola phone when there is Samsung and HTC who provide much superior hardware.

    • DroidzFX

Random reboots and awesome short battery life are killer features. Those are a must have in my next phone.

      • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

        And sense is awesome

        /s

    • Anonymous

ROFL!  Samsung is cheap junk. No one beats Motorola’s hardware or build quality.

      • MOTOFAIL

… That must be why I’m on my 6th OG Droid (which I baby) and my friends are still rocking their first Incredibles and Captivates…

Droid 1- Keyboard bubbled up and detached after a few months use
        Droid 2- Headphone jack issues
        Droid 3-Headphone jack issues
        Droid 4-Camera failed
Droid 5-micro usb port failed to charge

I love my Droid, but it’s been one helluva ride dealing with Moto’s “superior” build quality

        • Anonymous

Funny, I’m still on my original Droid I got in early December of 09 and it looks practically new.  Maybe you don’t baby them as well as you think?  Or maybe I’m just really lucky?  I don’t know, my brother hasn’t had any problems with his Droid X nor any of my friends.

      • angelface

some dude supposed to say better software and he said hardware lol MOTO ITS THE BEST WHEN IT COMES TO BUILT QUALITY AND HARDWARE PERIOD

  • Ryan

its sad i was actually psyched for this phone…. but if these are actually the specs i dont think im gonna get it.

especially if that htc phone is coming out with a 1.5 processor and 720P screen

it really does seem like this phone is almost too little to late

    • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Its not a phone I believe someone else confirmed its the tablet and if there using snapdragon I’ll pass that chip is a POS

  • Zevelking

    Looks like a $99 Phone!
Motorola is selling us last year specs.
All future Phones will be LTE
After the first 30 days it will be “buy 1 get 3 free”
With all the hype for 9 months I was hoping for a lot more.

    • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Last years specs man get your head out of your ass please

  • Hellovigor

Too little too late… goodbye Moto.

  • Bigsike

Well that’s certainly some barn burning specs Moto now I can sleep well with the SGS2

  • http://twitter.com/James_C_L James C. L.

All this hype for that? Ughh

    • http://twitter.com/James_C_L James C. L.

Another thing, didn’t that asshat MBD228 post on twitter that bionic would have “more memory than all of its predecessors COMBINED”!

Look at the specs, doesn’t look to promising

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=716789798 Lonnie Kerchief

That had to be false from the start. I’m not even going to take the time to add up all of the onboard memory of all the “Droid” branded phones, but I can guarantee you it’s more than 2GB and way more than anyone could have expected this to have.

        • Legoturte92

Plus there is still a lot of speculation on whether or not that twitter acc is real. Especially since Motorola has a official one.

  • PowersUSA

I think a front facing camera should at the very least match the resolution of the screen. Only VGA (640 x 480), really? Boo. If your not going to give a decent front facing camera then at least have a hardware camera button.

  • Stelv81

Webtop capable…means available Ram will be cut. In Atrix the 1g is cut to almost 512 of usable Ram for Apps and OS right?

    • Anonymous

      Don’t believe that nasty rumor.

    • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Yea that’s false the 1gb is for the whole phone the only time its not is when the we top is connected…

    • Anonymous

      Good job spreading FUD.

  • Anonymous

WOW, no standalone GPS? That would seem like an incredibly stupid omission.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=716789798 Lonnie Kerchief

I think you’re mistaking what they meant by “navigation”. They simply meant that the Droid 3 has hardware arrow keys for cursor movement.

      • Anonymous

No, if you look down at the bottom of the page they list the GPS capabilities, both the DROID3 and Photon 4G have standalone GPS, the BIONIC does not.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=716789798 Lonnie Kerchief

Simultaneous GPS is better than standalone GPS. Simultaneous GPS allows both the cellular radio and the GPS radio to operate at the same time, whereas with standalone GPS the RF antenna is shared and they must alternate using it. Simultaneous GPS offers more location data, and therefore is more accurate than standalone GPS when the cellular radio is in use.

          • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

A quick google search would of sav d you the trouble of looking stupid

Not exactly a beast. Looks more and more like a snoozer. Shame. HTC Vigor or Sammie GSII will be my next phone.

    • Anonymous

Well, when you consider what Verizon has been pumping out this year, I’d call it a beast. :P

Vigor is still a big rumor, Galaxy S2 may not be here for a while, so while this may not match those, it’s still got some pretty good specs.  Think about where we were last year at this time heh.  1GHz single-core was thought to be beastly.

      • IMNS

A beast?  the only “beast” part of this device is LTE.  Other than than once you discount half the RAM for webtop it has the same specs as the Droid3.  And with the larger screen that pentile screen is going to be that much more noticeable.    These specs just help me confirm I made the right choice getting the Droid 3.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

This is a nasty rumor. Webtop uses no RAM while not in use.

          • MJL

Kellex, please clear the air on this webtop/RAM issue.  I am very curious.

          • Anonymous

            http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11564502&postcount=10

There explanations on the RAM situation just like that one I’ve pasted above all over XDA.  The RAM rumor was BS from the beginning.  You definitely get all 1GB of RAM. :)

          • angelface

:) impresive having lte so do we have 2 g of ram since this phone use it ddd2

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_FKZYRM3EUS3BAB2XGCKGDX7JGU Bice

They hypebeasted the hell out of this phone, and then release specs like this? What makes this different than any other phone on the market?

          • Anonymous

Well, there isn’t another phone on the planet that has a dual-core processor, LTE and 1GB of RAM.  So I’d say it’s different than all of them. :P

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=716789798 Lonnie Kerchief

1GB of RAM simply means they’ll load this phone with twice the already obnoxious amount of bloatware as the Droid 3 because Verizon thinks we all <3 the bloat.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_FKZYRM3EUS3BAB2XGCKGDX7JGU Bice

Not now, but we’re all smart enough to know that there will be soon. Look at the specs on this and then take away the fact it’s on LTE. The phone itself is mediocre, at best. VGA FFC, Crappy screen, average design, etc. Nothing makes this phone stand out. I’ve waited this freaking long, I’m not trading in my OG Droid for a phone that’s no better than anything else on the market.

          • Anonymous

I’d definitely say there are only 3 or 4 phones that match the specs and quality of this phone.  And if we continue to worry about what’s next, then we might as well never buy another phone heh.  Mobile tech is cruising at an incredible pace.

I think what we all have to decide, is if this phone is good enough to last us through to the next year.  For some this will be, for others, clearly not.

          • Anonymous

I think the big deciding factor there would be, would this phone see ICS? (Ice Cream Sandwich, homegamers)

I’m guessing it probably should, especially since it’s DROID branded. Everyone’s all over GSII but if it’s like the Fascinate, official updates will be slow going…

          • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Yes it will all newer phones will be updated…I don’t know the minimum spec sheet but I would think at least dual core 512 ram and up

          • Anonymous

no no the question isn’t CAN it be updated, it’s whether Motorola will ACTUALLY do it, and in respectable time.

          • Anonymous

Based on past history I think that’s a 99% certainty, certainly no slower than any of the other OEMs.

          • Tabe

I’m not worried about what’s next, I’m worried about what’s now – and that’s the D3, which is pretty much the same thing! C’mon, at least bump up the CPU a bit or SOMETHING!
Guess they need to hold back a little for their other LTE phone that they plan on releasing this year.

          • Anonymous

that’s what i said. at least make it 1.2ghz so it differentiates a bit.

          • Legoturte92

The only thing I don’t like is the sub-par front facing camera.

          • angelface

damm i could not agree more they could it at least put 1.3

          • Anonymous

but twice as fast as your current phone. what a sob story

          • Anonymous

Hey numbnuts, the GS2′s specs aren’t any better.

            gtfo

          • FACTCHECK

            Aren’t any better?

            FFC:
Galaxy SII: 2mp FFC > Bionic: VGA FFC

            Screen:
Galaxy SII: SUPER AMOLED Plus > Bionic: Pentile

            Processor:
            Galaxy SII: Dual-core 1.2GHz > Bionic: 1GHz

            RAM:
            Galaxy SII: 1GB = Bionic: 1GB

            3g vs. 4g
            Galaxy SII 3g < Bionic 4g

            You were saying?

          • angelface

you are talking about the version in europe lol only thing better for me it is the ffc nothing else

          • Anonymous

FFC: is a gimmick at best.  Big damn deal it’s a slightly better camera, the novelty wears off after the first one or two video chats for most people, I know I’ll never use it.

Screen:  the only real advantage to the GS2, we’ll see how the Bionic’s is.

            Processor:  Incorrect

Battery: 1650 mAh vs 1735 mAh < Bionic

Ports: micro USB & HDMI vs nonstandard MHL < Bionic

Standard Motorola build quality vs Samsung plastic < Bionic

Motorola support vs Samsung < Bionic

            You were saying?

        • Anonymous

Pretty sure the “half the RAM for webtop” was just an ugly rumor.  And if you combine LTE and a dual-core, I’d call that a beast since no other phone on the planet has it.  :)

Not sure why everyone is discrediting this phone so much.  I understand that we are all annoyed with it being late, but the specs aren’t matched by many other devices.

Would I buy the SGS2 over this?  Most definitely, but that doesn’t mean this phone isn’t top tier.

          • Hellovigor

It’s not so much we feel annoyed as we feel betrayed. This was THE phone of our dreams back when it was announced. All these delays kept us frothing at the mouth for a worthy successor to the OG DROID and what do we get?

            -Pentile Screen
            -VGA FFC (really?!)
            -Locked Boot loader
            -Blur
-1GHz dual core vs. 1.5GHz on the horizon
            -A “meh” design

A top tier phone? Maybe now, but not for long

Motorola had the OG Droid (if not the entire Android) community in the palm of it’s hand when it announced this beast back at CES, but we are a fickle bunch and demand a true worthy replacement for our tried and true friend.

Again, this is too little too late.

          • Anonymous

Just remember that this phone only had 512MB RAM when ti was first announced, and was really sub-par when compared to the Atrix.  At least now it has some specs that top the Atrix.

          • angelface

let them hate kellez they all hate moto it is so funny when they are giving us the best phones technology wise :)

Thank you Kellex. Everyone is more worried about these rumored phones that are still a while off. The Bionic will definitely not be a pushover like everyone is making it out to be.

        • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

          Yea people are crazy

        • Anonymous

I don’t want to harp on this pentile thing. I went to Verizon the other day to check out what all the fuss was about. At 4.3 inches on the DX2 it’s very noticeable and distracting. Although on the 4 inch screen on the D3 it’s really not that bad. It’s amazing what an extra .3 of an inch can do to that pentile screen.

  • JB

Basically an Atrix on Big Red. Would’ve been a killer…had it launched 6 months ago.  Maybe they could rebrand it the Droid Vanilla…just sayin

  • FortitudineVincimus

Vigor with dual 1.5 chips FTW.. dual 1ghz chips are so… so 3 months ago

  • Scribbles395

Wow, not impressed at all. It’s nice but in no way revolutionary. I’ll wait for the SGII, thank you berry mucho.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jimwilsoniv Jim Wilson

      And LTE of course..

It’s webtop capable so much of the Ram is not usable by OS or Apps I believe. I am using the Atrix as a reference.

man i would love to rock the droid bionic but i cant get over the pentile screen i think i might have to go to samsung after my droid R2D2

  • Anonymous

“a beast”? Isnt there a phone comming out soon with 1.5Ghz duel core? Also, these specs arent beastly, they’re about the norm now.

    • DroidzFX

yeah but why get 1.5Ghz when you can 2Ghz ? or maybe 2.5Ghz if you wait long enough.

    • Anonymous

“dueling” cores would be pointless they would only fight and get nothing done

  • http://iamandroid.co/profile/rocktoonz Rocktoonz

any chance in Hell that screen isn’t that awful pen-tile crap they’re shoving down our throats now?  that’d be a deal-breaker for me.

  • Anonymous

Rather have the vigor or the galaxy SII

  • fartbubbler

    qHD screen!  WOOHOOOO!!

    • Anonymous

Sarcasm?  Isn’t this the same screen as the DX2 that everyone hates?  Sounds like it will be the same camera too, which is also not that impressive.

      • fartbubbler

I thought it was the pentile screen that suckt?

  • http://twitter.com/TonyG916 Tony Garza

nothing worthwhile here. if this phone came out two months ago, i’d be all over it.  but hearing devices running 1.5ghz and better screen resolution, im going to wait it out

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10215724 Raj Bhatt

In that PDF it is listed as the old Bionic model number (XT865) and also says that the FFC is 0.3 MP which is VGA like the old Bionic. I don’t think this list is completely up to date.

EDIT: didn’t see that that was addressed in the article, sorry!

    • angelface

We dont really know how the bionic will come out

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

Why is every post about Motorola filled with either hate towards them or talk of other RUMORED phones? It’s getting old that’s for sure.

    • Tabe

If you don’t understand why people are upset with Moto, well then… don’t know what to tell you.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

Trust me, I know why. Whether it be the “horrible” pentile screens, the locked bootloaders, the delay of the Bionic, no LTE upgrade for the Xoom yet (I am a 3G Xoom owner), or Blur (which the D3 and Photon’s version is actually not bad), I get it. I guess I just really like Motorola’s hardware and until someone can put out something of similar quality, I’ll continue to be a fan. What if Motorola unlocked the bootloader on the Bionic? Would everyone want one then?

        • http://twitter.com/BHagey1 Brandon Hagey

At this point i dont think so. People are on HTC now it seems like.

          Droid 1 – Revolutionary
Droid Bionic – Meh, nothing my TB cant do. Pentile screen is ugly as fuhh too

        • MOTOFAIL

          No.

        • angelface

yea they would because they want everything for free lol many regular users love moto that’s why they still selling a lot a lot

  • http://twitter.com/myermenson Michael Yermenson

Wasn’t it supposed to be dual 1.2GHz?

  • Tabe

    More HTC Vigor info, plz!!

  • Tabe

Why would the Bionic support less and older media formats? Those specs are just the D3 with more ram… Not impressed…

  • http://twitter.com/rkein87 Rob Kein

So its exactly the same as the Photon…

    • Anonymous

Unless you count the tons of Verizon bloatware that’s sure to be included.

Nexus prime please save us and come to verizon!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=25001493 Hank Godwin

      Not happening.

      • David Hayden

And you’ve come to this conclusion how? According to the rumors, it’s launching on all carriers. Unless you have something to say otherwise, then don’t spread false information.

        • Stelv81

Verizon has yet to release a Nexus, pure vanilla android phone. Verizon is the only carrier that doesn’t have the Nexus S.

          • David Hayden

This is true, but I prefer not to follow a pattern like this. Maybe I’m just that blinded by the hope of finally getting a Nexus phone, but it just seems like Verizon would be stupid to not get this piece of tech.

    • angelface

      never

  • Anonymous

What a strange design, doesn’t look like any of the leaked pictures. It’s revolutionary!

    • Anonymous

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, http://to.ly/aRG4

  • UGH

wow not worth the hype….at all

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

How is it not? The specs are better than any other Verizon phone. I don’t wanna hear about the GS2, Prime, or Vigor either. All of those are releasing after the Bionic and are nothing but rumors for now.

      • Tabe

Only area it really tops the D3 is the ram. And maybe webtop, if you’re into that.

        • Anonymous

          LTE

          • Tabe

Meh, I consider LTE another “if you’re into that” thing. I could do without it.

      • Anonymous

“The specs are better than any other Verizon phone.”

That’s like saying, “I am a better basketball player than my 9 year old step daughter.”  Come on man.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

I don’t see anyone else coming out with a dual core 4G LTE phone yet. So please save your witty comment. At least Motorola didn’t release last years hardware with an LTE radio.

          • Bigsike

Since these specs are about 7 months old I would say they were pretty dam close to last year.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1165492668 Scott Attula

When did we see the first dual core phone on the market though? The technology is already crap compared to what we have now, there’s quad core on the horizon now. Also, they aren’t using the same CPU, they were originally using the Tegra 2.

          • Anonymous

The Tegra 3 quad core has been delayed until October and you’ll only see them used in tablets for some time because they’re large and power hungry.

          • Anonymous

I agree with Michael on this one. We can spend all day talking about vapor products. The fact is, this is the only dual core, gingerbread LTE device that will be running on Verizon network. If the SGS2 does come, it’s only 3G….they wont make SGS2 LTE  that will compete against the Charge.

          • Tabe

Disagree… SGS2 could def be LTE. The Charge will drop in price a bit and the SGS2 would be the higher-end option.

          • Anonymous

That wouldn’t make any sense from a business perspective. Unless the so called SGS2 with LTE replaced the charge.

In any case it doesn’t matter, we can speculate all these so called devices, like the Vigor, Nexus Prime…etc and how much better they are than this. Truth be told, until Verizon releases one of these devices, we have nothing to compare it to. Bionic is the closest we can talk about, after looking at this post.

          • Tabe

Not making it LTE wouldn’t make sense from a business perspective, either. Your highest-end device that would attract the most hard-core users minus a key (to others, i don’t care about LTE) technology that your lower-end device has? Doesn’t make sense to me. I’m not a business man, though.

          • Tabe

Incorporating LTE into the device would require significant re-engineering and would likely result in further delays as well as an increase in size.

          • Tabe

True.. If you assume they haven’t had an lte version in development from the beginning.

          • angelface

vigor and the rest of  the devices could take longer than bionic BIONIC first lte latest gb and dual core nobody will have it just verizon and motorolla i laugh at the haters in here

          • angelface

            BIONIC ALL THE WAY

      • UGH

its just so generic…nearly every damn phone is similar to this…id like to see a phone that has a “wow” factor..this phone does not..all it is is a keyboardless little bit of more ram droid3 on LTE…big whoopdie do…

      • Interstellarmind

michael, that’s like saying, “the 2012 ford focus debuting in september is the best car around. and don’t tell me about the bmw or mercedes 2012 models coming out in october.”you can’t something’s the best then say we can’t mention things that ARE better than it.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

Ok well your Vigor, Prime, or GS2 has nothing on XYZ phone releasing in 2012 with quad core, 1.5GB of RAM, and 1080p HD screen. You can’t always wait in the technology world because it always improves. The Bionic will be the best phone on Verizon at the time of release. A better phone will always come later on. That’s progression.

          • Interstellarmind

i believe these releases will be within a month or two within each other. i think that’s a short enough period of time to consider them releasing at the same time.

but go ahead, man. get your bionic (hope you can get it rooted to get rid of the lag cauzed by blur). my vigor will be running circles around your phone.

          • DroidzFX

Funny bragging about a phone you dont even own yet…my hovercraft will totally smoke your Civic

          • Anonymous

your vigor will be running circles for about an hour because thats as long as the battery will last considering htcs track record….(yes i know it “should” consume less power) look man hes right, the bionic is a solid device at the top of current mobile technology, whos to say that the sgsII, vigor or any other device wont have setbacks just like the bionic. anything can happen. fact is its a badass phone that will do exactly what most people need it to. but whatever by the time you get your vigor kal el will be on the horizon, then wayne and logan and stark and it will never ever ever end

          • angelface

when the vigor comes out moto already has their other beast waiting with another improve technology like they always do lol moto droid for example webdock on atrix hdmi mirror on photon, droid 3 bionic keep hating on moto they still selling pretty dam good without having to unlock the bootloader

          • angelface

vigor will be plastic as the rest of htc phone no webdock capabilities no hdmi mirror :)

      • Anonymous

Fair enough. I want to see how the battery life is first before buying. Not dealing with a phone with less than 6 hours of practical use

  • http://facebook.com/gotmurph Murphy

I’ll say it again….SGS2, ’nuff said.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

You won’t be seeing before the Bionic.

      • Anonymous

Nobody said it would all they said was they are waiting you don’t need to try to persuade people into buying the bionic it won’t happen. Moto dropped the ball again. About 2 months to late

        • Anonymous

Some of us don’t like being spammed about the SGS2 in every Bionic article, you don’t need to try to persuade people into buying the GS2; anyone who’s sane will make their own decisions based on actual specs upon availability.  Samsung dropped the ball again being four months late and counting to the US.

          • Anonymous

I could care less what you or anyone else buys I’m not trying to persuade anyone. So you would rather a phone be 8 month late rather than 4 months? You are a real einstein lol. Buy whatever you want because to me it really doesn’t matter. Yippie ki eh.

          • Anonymous

            *whoosh*

          • Pete

Well samsung is 4 months late and bionic is not late coz no one has it anywhere but ssgs2, almost half the world has it but not here(USA). So i think u can see who is late…

          • Tarsis Brito

we seems to agree every time these people are assuming the sammy from europe will look identicall to the one in usa lol bionic should last us 2 years or more omap technology and all the nice things it has to offer

      • Hellovigor

Who cares. This phone is a waste of time compared to what’s on the horizon…

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

And those phones are a waste of time compared to what’s after them. This is going to happen everytime with technology.

          • Anonymous

The man’s right. Gotta bite the bullet and take your pick.

          • Hellovigor

let me rephrase… the immediate horizon

          • Anonymous

You know this how?  The GS2 is the only phone known to be on the immediate horizon and it’s not any better than the Bionic except in screen. The Nexus 3 won’t be coming until November/December if at all and there is absolutely no information on the Vigor other than one small rumor that just surfaced.

          • Anonymous

I think the GS2 will have a better camera and be thinner (unless they need to make it thicker to support the 1st gen LTE chip).

          • Anonymous

It won’t be thinner if it has LTE.  Also, the GS2′s camera isn’t anything special.

            http://www.phonearena.com/news/Smartphone-camera-comparison-you-choose-the-winner-Results_id20750

          • Tarsis Brito

the vigor looks nice but i want to see if it can do webtop capabilities, hdmi mirror if it does all of that and if htc start making their phone better quality wise i would say vigor its the best phone 1.5 its for tablets who will use that speed anyways

          • I’m Kick-Ass!

That’s not the point. Every device has it’s day in the sun. Bionic has taken so long that it missed it’s window.  SG2, HTC Vigor,  the iPhone for those who choose to use it, and others are approaching. Why tie yourself to this phone for 2 years.

          • Anonymous

They actually did a redesign… thus it is a different phone now. Instead of .5 GB ram it has 1 GB ram. It also has a different dual core processor. These two things IMHO are the things which are changing the fastest on phones these days.

        • Brentg31076

You keep saying that about every phone that comes out… Duh! You must be some sort of genius….. Not!

          • Hellovigor

… yes every phone that comes out

I just started posting yesterday “genius”

          • SPN

And how is he supposed to know you just started yesterday, “genious”?

          • Hellovigor

It warms my heart to see prepubescents so interested in emerging technology.

          • Anonymous

are you mocking him with incorrect spelling of genius ?

          • SPN

Yes. Thankfully someone got my joke

    • T1392

      I’m going SGSII with you.

      • dixie1

Looks too much like the bloody iphone.

        • T1392

True, but better specs than “BIONIC” IMO but who knows with the carriers all wanting different versions. I’m interested in hearing more about HTC Vigor. I have OG Droid and I feel so outta date even with root. I’m disappointed in Motorola they Should of made it a OMAP4 1.2ghz, 4.5″ screen, 2mp FFC, none pentile or at least less pentile, with NFC capabilities (not sure if it has it or not)

          • awm

I agree with T1392 above with what the specs should have been in order to make a more desireable wait!…HTC Vigor is sounding more like what I’m looking for now, too.

          • hkklife

I would be fine with the basic Bionic specs IF it had a non-pentile screen and IF it was 4.5″ as was rumored a few months ago.  Otherwise, I don’t care about the front camera’s resolution & lack of NFC.

And as for the next Moto super phone coming after the Bionic…well, if it has a fixed internal battery then that immediately removes it from contention for me. I will often have a need to swap batteries around 6pm on my 3G phones, so having a removable battery is critical on an LTE handset.

          • Anonymous

I gotta say Kellex’s guess that the Proton would be the Bionic was spot on. It’s kind of sad even if Sprint gets it with only 3g it’s still the same damn phone and they got it first. Motorola really kicked themselves in the ass. I’m actually somewhat surprised they did this to themselves. I’m running an OG Droid with Project Elite. Sometimes I wonder why I’d buy another Motorola phone. With project elite on this thing I could keep it for another year and it’d be pretty fast (it’s pretty hard to compete with the OG Droid’s flexibility). Although it’s time for me to re-up and get another phone so I will. I’m not going to be one of those people who sits around for months and months waiting for the perfect phone. It’s a waste of time. Give me a good 4g Dual core and I’m sold. Once i buy a phone i stop reading all these blogs about phones. It doesn’t matter anymore until I have to re-up again.

          • T1392

I too am on Project Elite, and love it but its also time for me to re-up as you said.

          • Anonymous

I used to run bugless beast and while I love Peter Alfonso…..Project Elite makes the phone so much faster and smooth. It makes it a lot easier to wait for another phone to pop up worthy of my money

          • Anonymous

Except the Photon uses a different, slower processor and has no LTE.  It doesn’t do 1080p recording or support high profile h.264 playback either.  The Bionic might have a better camera in addition.

          • Anonymous

1080p recording is nothing to brag about. Don’t expect it to look as clear as you think. The camera sensor is too tiny.

          • Guest

oww no 4g on the photon. we still do not know what is the real specs for the bionic. and why people are complaining about 4.5  4.3 its the perfect size get real people

          • Anonymous

I too am still running my old OG… and it is starting to show its age. I’m waiting for the SGS2 or something better depending on what’s coming out in the next couple of months… but it surely won’t be the bionic… been bitten too many times by moto.

          • Anonymous

            http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Motorola-Droid-Bionic-Targa,Samsung-Galaxy-S-II/phones/5306,5106

I don’t see the better specs you claim the GS2 has.  The only plus for the GS2 is NFC support but the Bionic has a bigger battery and LTE.

          • Guest

and also webdock and hdmi mirror and better software

          • Guest

i do agree they should it made it 1.2 but 1.0 dual core its not as much of a difference i am dissapointed on the ffc it could it be 1.3 or 2 at least pentile its good it is a people choice i feel sammy screen has to much colors

    • Anonymous

you say that as if it’s guaranteed to have LTE, as of right now, it’s 50/50 at BEST.

      • Daniel Brown

This comment was in response to a “SGS2 ’nuff said” comment.  I don’t think the SGS2 will come with LTE which is why I hold the bionic as a major option at the moment.

    • Tcali

Seriously, end of discussion. The Galaxy S2′s Exynos is the best SoC out there period (For now at least).

      • Dave

Only thing is we know that certain markets won’t be getting Exynos. At this time we have no confirmed specs for US models (unless I’m missing something).

      • Anonymous

No, if you were to overclock the OMAP4 to 1.2 GHz and run both at the same resolution you’ll find the performance to be about even.

      • Anonymous

        Except for it’s old GPU.

    • Daniel Brown

It’s not ’nuff said until we find out if the SGS2 is LTE..

    • Anonymous

The HTC Vigor, looks pretty impressive so far, as well as the SG2 but since the SG2 willbe old news and OEM’s will start coming out with 1.5ghz and hopefully 2ghz next year.  HTC seems to be leading the new wave of better specs along with Samsung.

Moto is still behind, Yes, this phone should’ve beenout earlier this year still great specs but if your looking to keep up, keep your eyes on the Vigor hopefully on Verizon.

      • T1392

Yea but when HTC leads the way it doesn’t always work out, (HTC G1, HTC eris, G2, Thunderbolt)

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tanner-Hodges/100000079676741 Tanner Hodges

the Droid 3 at this time still looks like the better device in terms of value and specs. (only place it loses is LTE and 512 MB less RAM.)

      • Anonymous

Smaller screen, half the ram and no LTE; those are all pretty big reasons imo.  Not to mention the Bionic will likely have a 1700 mAh battery or larger compared to the D3′s 1540.

        • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

There’s a 2430 mAh battery for the Defy that’s identical to the one in Droid 3. Just saying its great :)

    • angelface

why the 4/5 4.3 its perfect
