Just in case you need additional confirmation that the DROID Bionic is headed to stores on September 8 without a direct fill (which likely means no pre-order), we have it for you. Also, another look at official specs including talk time which is listed as up to 10.8 hours.
And don’t forget to check out the wallpapers from the device that were just posted.
With the DROID Bionic now confirmed to be headed to stores on September 8, we will surely start to see bits and pieces of its software leak like we have tonight. Our buddy @P3droid got a hold of the system dump and dug through it to find all of the new wallpapers that were included. Once he found them, he packaged them up into a nifty wallpaper app and dropped in on the market for you to enjoy. I must say, whoever designed the wallpapers for this phone did a fantastic job.

There you have it. Verizon’s internal Equipment Guide has been updated to show that they expect an “all channel” launch for the DROID Bionic to go off September 8. There isn’t a mention of a direct fill option, so that means there might not be an opportunity to grab one early (pre-order) via the web or through a sales line like we saw with the DROID3.
One week to go, folks.
*Note – The weight is listed at 5.60oz. It’s slightly lighter than the D3 at 5.90oz, but that phone also has a keyboard. Thunderbolt is 6.23oz, Charge is 5.04oz, and the DROIDX2 is 5.47oz. So it’s not a massive tank, but it’s definitely no where near the feather weight of the Galaxy SII.
All the specs and details you could ask for after the break.
A new HTC Sensation outed by the folks at CNET has almost identical specs to those that we expect to see in the Vigor here in the states on Verizon. While we clearly trust our source that provided us with these detailed specs, this is a pretty solid second confirmation that they were spot on and that the HTC Vigor (first pictures of it) will most definitely be a beast. We were told that it will sport a 4.3″ HD screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and Beats by Dre integration – all matching this leak of the new Sensation.
Even better though, is the fact that this phone along with another from HTC, will both include some form of Beats Audio headphones or earbuds. The new Sensation is getting earbuds, while some are also set to include full ear covering Beats Solo headphones. No telling yet what the Vigor will come equipped with, but the earbuds seem more likely knowing that this very similar device is as well.
More on the new Sensation over at Android Life.
An update has been pulled from Motorola’s servers for the DROID3 that appears to give it Google Talk with Video along with a new radio that will more than likely improve its finicky battery life. We are pretty sure that this is the test update that has been floating around to a number of D3s, but have no idea if this is the build that will actually get approved for mass consumption.
Scottml is the XDA member that made this discovery and has listed out some changes:
- BP upgrade for the Radio
- Talk2 for Video
- Boot.img patch
- Recovery.img patch
- Various patches to alot of system files
- And some stupid bloatware patches as well.
And to answer the million dollar question that is running through all of your heads right now, “Yes, this version can still be rooted.”
Download: Blur_Version.5.5.959.XT862.Verizon.en.US.zip
Simple instructions: Download the file from above and drop it on your SD card. Reboot your phone into recovery using “adb reboot recovery” and then choose to install zip via sd card. It is recommended that your phone is unrooted and 100% back to stock before attempting this.
*Warning – Like I said above, there is no guarantee that this is the next official build that will be released to everyone. So if you update, know that there is a chance that you will be stuck on this version unless an SBF comes out or another update path.
You can re-root afterwards using this file.

Looks like the wait is almost over for our dear HTC Thunderbolt and DROID Incredible owners. We have been listening to readers rant about HTC’s lack of Gingerbread support for these devices for quite some time, but it looks like all your dreams are coming true next month.
HTC is now tweeting that Gingerbread will begin rolling out to these devices in September, and as always, they are thanking us for our support patience. Everyone keep on your toes, we are almost there.
Still no mention as to why the Incredible update was pulled after rolling out to a test group.
Cheers black stag, Joseph and Brent!
