Official Verizon support just dropped the tweet you are seeing above which states that their version of the Samsung Galaxy S II will have 4G LTE. We have all been speculating as to whether or not the device would launch on Big Red with 4G since it certainly seems like it will on every other carrier. The idea of it launching so close to the Bionic though, had us doubting. This would seemingly change those thoughts and is huge news, especially if we are to see the device in August. Unless of course that in an hour they retract it to say that they meant “the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will have 4G.” But for now though, we’re jumping up and down with joy.
Verizon Support Claims That Their Samsung Galaxy S II Will Indeed Have 4G LTE (Updated)
Samsung Hosting Galaxy Tab 10.1 Software Event August 3, TouchWizUX Update Highlighted
If you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, then you’ll want to pay close attention to August 3. Why? Well, an event in NYC has been scheduled to show off a “major software update” for the device – TouchWizUX to be exact. No word yet if this update will also included Android 3.2, but if you are available between 1:00 and 6:00PM that day and in New York, you could swing by and get your Tab updated on the spot.
The date for the over-the-air update has not been set (at least publicly), so stay tuned.
And we’ve dropped a TouchWizUX preview to give you a pretty clear view of what TouchWizUX will do to your currently-stock Honeycomb device.
HTC Vigor Benchmark Spotted, Headed to Verizon with 1.5GHz Dual-core Processor and 720p HD Display?
Pardon me while I pick my jaw up off the floor to attempt to write this post. What you are looking at, is a (unconfirmed) benchmark for the HTC Vigor that could be headed to Verizon. If what we are seeing is to be believed, the device (ADR6425LVW) will run Qualcomm’s new 1.5GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor that includes the brand new Adreno 220 GPU – a processor and GPU set that at least on paper, might be one of the most impressive we’ve ever seen. It gets better though. Check out the display resolution of 1280×720…yep, 720p HD resolution right there.
It’s also running Android 2.3.4 at this time, but with a resolution like that, we’re thinking Ice Cream Sandwich would be a likely candidate come launch; especially if rumors of on-screen home/search/back buttons are to be believed.
Galaxy S II for Sprint Hits FCC with WiMAX, Device Sales Pass 5 Million Globally
A tech analyst excited all of us yesterday when he predicted that the Samsung Galaxy S II could land on Verizon before any other carrier. With Sprint’s version now passing through the FCC though, are we still willing to make any bets on that? We definitely know that the SGS2 is headed to the states some time in August and likely through all 4 major carriers thanks to JK Shin, but an FCC filing is usually a good sign of what’s to come. The good news is that the Sprint version will be 4G and run on their WiMAX network, so let us hope that Verizon finds a way to force an LTE chip into theirs without turning the device into a tank.
And in related news, the device itself cruised over the 5 million global sales mark in just 85 days without a U.S. device in sight. The press note below is a little confusing and mentions 10 million, but we’re thinking they are referencing the “turning point” as being the half-way mark to 10 million.
Samsung Galaxy S 2 Passed the Turning Point of 10 Million Global Sales
Galaxy S 2, which is becoming a global smart icon, finally passed the turning point of 10 million global sales. Samsung Electronics announced on July 27 that its flagship smartphone Galaxy S 2 has marked the accumulated global sales of 5 million units only 85 days (on July 22) after its release.
Galaxy S 2 reached the turning point 40 days earlier than its predecessor: Galaxy S did it in 125 days. Galaxy S 2 acquired 56% of the entire mobile phone market in Korea last month, and it has topped the mobile phone market share in more than 10 European countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. And it seems Galaxy S 2 is ‘still hungry’ as it is now poised to spread its global sensation into other regions like Latin America and China
Getting excited yet?

DROID Bionic Poses for New Photo, More Than Likely Headed for “Early September” Launch
Please ignore all references made to a release of the DROID Bionic on August 4 over the last day or three. If it shows up miraculously next Thursday, then by all means that’s awesome – we just won’t be putting our money on it or talking about that day unless Verizon announces it. We had been hearing 9/1 from a variety of sources over the last two weeks and should have stuck with that date. According to a report received today along with this photo, Motorola reps are telling VZW folks that they should expect the device in “early September.”
And on a related note, our homie mentioned that the device definitely has the same screen as the DROIDX2 and DROID3, but for whatever reason there was far less ghosting. He also said that the device was way lighter and more responsive than expected. We’re guessing that has to do with the extra RAM and that sleek new design? Yeah, I’m drooling a little bit too.
Apologies for the flip-flopping on dates…both 8/4 and 9/1 are flying at us from all sorts of angles. But I’d say you can probably put those benjamins back in your pockets for at least a few more weeks.
Cheers Spaniard!
Best Buy Expecting DROID Bionic Cases to Arrive by August 20?
I know, I know, another DROID Bionic rumor to finish off a day. With most of these turning out to be extremely questionable, we almost feel like it’s the HTC Thunderbolt fiasco all over again. This time though, it’s Best Buy at the podium, showing off an 8/20 in-stock date for Bionic cases. Now, this could mean we’ll see the device around that date, before or even after! Wow, that was deep and to the point, wasn’t it? Actually, we tend to see cases arriving in stores a week or two before the device they support, so let’s start focusing in again on the 9/1 date that we’ve heard a couple of times now.
Cheers ___!

As usual, download the file from above and drop it on your SD card. After that, boot into recovery through ROM Manager, make a backup and then “install zip from sd card.”
And just in case he updates it, you’ll want to check this folder. Here is his github.
