New Android Market 3.0.27 Rolling Out?

Has the new version (or a new version) of the Android Market started rolling out?  A few of our readers have seen it show up over the last few days as version 3.0.27 which differs slightly than version 3.0.26 that we posted for you a week or so ago.  To confirm their word, I’ve checked two of my phones that were updated manually and both are now running the new version of .27.

The rollout doesn’t appear to be as widespread as we had hoped, but it looks like it has started.  I know that most of you updated manually, but if you didn’t, are you seeing the new market yet?  Everyone else seeing .27 now?

Cheers Ezra!

i can’t turn off app update notifications now… sad

  • Jay96815

27 here on my OG rooted Droid 🙂

  • Anonymous

Yup…my Atrix 4G on 2.3.4 OTA is showing 3.0.27 as well.

  • mine is updated to 3.0.27  on my OG droid

  • Jjordo1

I have the new version in my Droid x2 bug it doesn’t have the movies tab. I anyone know why?

  • Michael

I do not care for the home page 3.0.27, it contains too many ads to buy movies and junk I do not need.  It was dumped or pushed to my phone last night.  It might be better organized but the idea of pushing ads it over the top for me.  I would prefer a cleaner approach meaning all i want to see on the home page is a list of groups with apps.

    • Leec136

How do u check it to c what u are running?

      • If nobody has answered your question yet, and/or you haven’t figured it out on your own:
Click the Android Menu button on your device, choose Settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications, then scroll down and tap on Market.

Installed the apk and it went straight to 3.0.27 on my Thunderbolt

  • Anonymous

It’s a nice application but when you go into related apps It doesn’t matter if you are in landscape mode or portrait mode You can not read all the detail and that’s annoying to me.

  • Why do I have 2.3.6 ? and my market updater app doesnt run at all and i have no options.

  • Jamerson90

I’ve got it on my D2

  • on .27 after manually installing .26 on my Droid 2 R2D2 (gb 2.3.3)

  • Paulding

Did you get the movies tab on your dx2

  • Ray

  • J Dub

    I’m showing .27

  • Davros

Manually updated to .26 but now shows .27. Wonder when that happened. DX stock rooted.

  • Luckyr1981

Didn’t even know it updated, I just noticed it right now

  • Here’s a fun question. Since Market is a system app, it can’t be removed, written over, etc. When Google updates our Market, do they just install over it as a regular app, or do they have a magical system to manipulate our system apps and actually writes over our existing Market with the updated version?

In short, do we now have the Market installed twice (the same way as if we update the Gmail app from the Market), or do we only have it once, in the system folder?

    • Martin Pelant

yep you will have it twice -original apk in /system/app and the new one in /data/app-> so you can always uninstall the newest version and return to the stock one

      • An even more fun question: Can we uninstall the system version, or rather all system versions of apps available in the Market… as in, will that screw up anything? (I already know it is possible, and I know how, I’m just not sure if it safe.)

        • Alessandro Barone

Yes, you can delete the system version and replace them with the new version, or vice versa. and yes it is safe to do that. Use an app like root explorer.

          • Mskks64

            titanium backup works great too

For Android 1.6 and higher, the Android Market application automatically updates itself when new versions become available. This is a silent update which means you will not see a notification and will not be prompted to update. Perform the following to ensure the latest version of Android Market is updated properly:Android 1.6 – 2.3Launch Android Market
      Switch to the Home screen
Wait 5-10 minutes for Market to self-update
      Re-launch MarketAndroid 3.0Launch Android Market
Touch My apps in the top right corner
      Switch to the Home screen
Wait 5-10 minutes for MyApps to self-update
Re-launch MarketTo check the version of Android Market:Press Home, press Menu, and touch Settings
      Touch Applications
      Touch Manage applications
Touch the All tab (Android 2.2 or higher), or press Menu, touch Filter, and touch All (Android 2.1 or lower)
Scroll down and select MarketThe version number appears below the Market title. To check the version of MyApps:Repeat the steps above, but select MyApps instead of Market. The version number appears below the MyApps title.

i was using the new market (3.0.26) with the gingerbread release on the motorola atrix, but everytime i wanted to download something it said “insufficient space”, so i had to reinstall the old market. Maybe i will test this one to see if it works.

  • Anonymous

.27 confirmed here. did nothing to update it, handled it all on its own.

  • rich

must be nice to have a new or newer market… still stuck with market 2.0. wtf ever who cares… this is the exact reason why I hate skins on the phones… it causes so many problems like being updated… if they would leave the damn phone alone and leave it stock then I would be basking in the new or newer software when its released…

    • 12345

Skins have nothing to do with it, I have a nexus s (vanilla android) and I’m still on 2.3.4 market.

      • 12345

        2.3.6 not 2.3.4.

i have .27 on my T-Bolt. i did not manually update to .26 when it was posted. i’ve had it since sometime last week.

might have been .26 first. i wasn’t paying attention :-O

  • Yep got the update on my Droid running the new PE.

  • Laszlo Boocz

Droid 1 and i have 27 installed. I did install the apk that was posted here not too long ago. I noticed under Games, there is no Top Free category like there is under Apps. I don’t like that very much as i would like to be able to sort what are the newest games out in the Market.

  • SiDRocKRuLz

I have .27 on my HTC Thunderbolt(Not Rooted).
