Minor DROID Incredible 2 Update on the Way, Improves Server Connection Issues

Fresh off of its Gingerbread update, the DROID Incredible 2 already has another on the way.  This time it looks like it’s just a minor “server connection” fix (only 4.2MB) that has to do with email and contacts, but no matter what, we’re happy to see HTC and Verizon acting quickly.  We haven’t heard when the update will be available, so be on the look and let us know.

Update:  @TeamAndIRC just released the RUU over at RootzWiki for those that want to update now.

More info.

One should not have to reboot their phone in order to make a call.

My friend has a Incredible 2 and is having trouble with the GPS in Google maps finding his exact location. This causes Google navigation and other location based serviced to malfunction. Does this update fix this problem. or if anyone has found solution please share the link with me.

    • Jrizk07

Sounds like he has a bent or bad back cover, the antenna’s are on that cover so if he bent it in any way he’s going to have issues. I used to own a vibrant and Inc2 GPS wipes the floor with the vibrant. Instant locks and very accurate.

      Check his back cover.

will there be a debloated, deodexed, of this? or is it even worth upgrading?

I must show appreciation to this writer just for bailing me out of this particular problem. As a result of researching throughout the search engines and seeing principles which were not powerful, I figured my entire life was gone. Living devoid of the approaches to the issues you have resolved as a result of your main report is a crucial case, as well as ones which may have badly damaged my entire career if I hadn’t encountered your website. That competence and kindness in touching all the things was precious. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t come upon such a step like this. I’m able to at this time relish my future. Thanks for your time so much for this professional and effective help. I will not think twice to suggest your web sites to anyone who would like guidance on this issue.

Shows updated Radio. Maybe it will also fix the crappy signal strength since GB release… here’s to hoping.

    • Castagnino

Looks like the radio is the same.

    • Jrizk07

Radio is the same, it’s an updated build number

  • Inboy81

Here is a link with info about gingerbread status on D2G and D2. This site is one of many I found. Ben being handsome has nothing to do with it. Brag about it and not post the picture, ok that makes since.

update will be available on the 26th after 5pm PST…I think – but the 26th for sure.

  • Zeo

Does Gingerbread or any upcoming Android version separate the “read phone state and identity” permission for apps (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=17675)? I don’t like how apps can have access to my phone number.

    • latus

I don’t think it changed in Gingerbread. It was bad in Android versions up to 1.5 where apps were granted this permission by default. Google should really separate the state and identity (phone number, IMEI, MEID, etc.) permissions.

    • Timmy

No wonder I’ve been getting telemarketing calls. Why are these permissions even grouped together?

ALL HAIL iOS 5! Revolutionary notifications that have never been done on any other platform

      • MXFoX408

Whats so revolutionary about copying Windows phone 7, RIM, and Android? A bit hypocritical coming from apple considering their lawsuits aimed at android. Arent they also stealing an idea of having a pull down screen from android? So where did apples innovation go? They realize they cant beat everyone forever.

  • Guttatae22

I regret Eva gettin the Thunderbolt Smh

    • Anonymous

Why? Does it not do what you want it to do?

  • Nathan Lauver

Great to know. Update hasn’t shown. Rebooted. No update. Pulled battery. No update. If I try to manually update com.Android.settings bombs. Any advice or should I just be patient? This is a stock DInc 2 with all the current updates but this one, not tampered with, although I have considered it.

    • Tim242

Did you read the article? Just askin.

There is a beta of the Droid Incredible Gingerbread update and a new Radio. Its a Beta and has some bugs but the should have been fixed by now.

  • jason6g

it is nice to see a company offering more support for a sequel phone than one of its flagship new lte devices… way to rush out the t-bolt guys – and they wonder why people root…

    • GotSka81

This is EXACTLY what I was going to post. Glad to see I’m not the only one who realizes this.

  • lotto

kellex i remember you saying the DI will probably see GB this month (july) a while back… any update on this? pleaseeeee

    • Anonymous

No news at this time – assuming they will try to update the Thunderbolt first.

  • Drummer62

Do you think Dinc1 will ever see gingerbread?

    • Anonymous

if you root you can have it like i do

  • http://www.facebook.com/TJHRULZ tjhrulz

let me get this out of the way now, poor thunderbolt owners.

    • lotto

dont forget the people whining about the bionic coming out.

    • Tim242

My thunderbolt runs great. Not one single issue. Not worried about gingerbread, it is nothing special.

    When does D2 and D2G get 2.3?

    • Inboy81

I hope never 2.3.3 is a joke boiling over with bugs. DROIDX I had since July 2010 never had a problem until 2.3.3 came out. Went through 4 devices made X a major drag force closes browser, keyboard force close. Scrolling became hit and miss. Shuts on and off. Buttons on bottom didn’t light up no more when plugged on charger or in my dock. I let them have X back told them to take it shove where sun don’t shine. They canceled line free of charge. I use my other line with a D2G love 2.2 no problems just like before Gingerbread hit my X. They have so many bugs for 2.3.3 they keep canceling update for D2 and D2G. I really don’t think a single core can handle 2.3.3 or that version is shit. There was a theory that X couldn’t handle it and know I know. Verizon said they wouldn’t sign off on it unless it was good. There testers to me are just pocket testers. I know there may be a disagreement with what I said.. so be it. Don’t wish a bad dream in your D2 or D2G.

      • Chris125

the nexus s is single core and handles it fine, not to mention so does the inc 2.

      • http://benisntfunny.com Ben Eubank

Weird. Dinc2 and my Droid X work fine with 2.3.3. It’s likely just because I’m more handsome or something trivial like that.

      • dairyman

My DInc2 is running smooth as butter since the update.

        • Inboy81

          Much butter :) interesting
