Google Maps Introduces 3D Buildings to Bundle of New Cities

No, Google didn’t introduce 3D buildings to Cocklebiddy, WA, but they did make them available in some other major metropolitan areas across the globe.  If you wanted to check out London, Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm, Singapore, Lisbon, Boulder, and 11 major cities in South Africa in 3D, then you all you have to do is open your Google Maps app.  There isn’t an update or anything waiting for you in the market – the maps should already be there.

  • I live in Cocklebiddy, which is a suburb of Redmond, and I can attest that there are no 3D buildings here. We do have 1D buildings and a few 2D. But we have lots of 3D trees!

  • This is old hat — saw it appear on my HTC Thunderbolt at least 3 weeks ago while in New Orleans.  Pretty cool, but certainly not super new.

  • I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores.       I have used the 3D before for something useful, I was looking for a specific building and it had a very different architecture from what was around it and it stood out in downtown Chicago
