No thanks, I’m still waiting on quad core.

  • Mauricio Sanchez

Idk if anybody asked this, but um… so is the Droid 3 gonna have the same Droid eye as the Droid 2? Lol.

  • iPhone 5 FTW 🙂

10 hours of battery life and no force closes from apps. It’s nice to be able to actually USE my phone like a computer instead of turning down the brightness, shut off gps, wifi and limit my usage just to get through the day like my old android phones.

    • pj

Haha. I like the I*hone as well, but this isn’t the place man. At least acknowledge the site name. And as far as your problems with android, its sad to hear you say that. Obviously this was a pos phone. My Droid incredible will run circles around my wife’s I*hone 4, with the brightness cranked, wifi on, and doing everything you wish the 4 could do. I can get 14-18 hours like that, or I could limit my usage and get 32-38 hours out of it. I guess my whole point is that you should stop being an ass about something you have a biased opinion towards.

      • Anonymous

You are FOS and a bonehead. I had the Dinc and without the extended battery, lucky if I could get more than 5-6 hours. And that’s with turning half the crap off. Brightness down, check. GPS off, check. Bluetooth off, check, Wifi off, check.

Oh and lets not forget how the battery dropped 5-10% after the phone was disconnected from the charger. Can you say “bump” charge? It was a great phone, if you could actually use it. HaHa!!

Random question, do they offer gel skins for the qwerty keyboard? I’ve seen them but can’t find where they’re sold.

I called VZW last night and tried to order…. I got as far as for her to ask my address and everything. She found it in the system, found a SKU, but there was no price for her to charge me. So then she said, “hold on” and said, “oh you know what? That phone isn’t out yet. You’ll have to wait” So close!

I can’t believe they are releasing this without 4G… lmao

    • For people that will have limited 4G coverage until at least next year, it’s not such a big deal. If a 4G version comes out next year a la D2G, I’ll just sell my 3G version and buy the 4G one.

    what does direct-fulfill mean?

  • I simply had to thank you very much again. I do not know the things that I might have taken care of in the absence of these opinions contributed by you directly on that problem. It was a daunting dilemma for me personally, however , viewing a new specialised technique you dealt with that took me to leap over gladness. Now i’m happy for this work and as well , believe you comprehend what a powerful job that you’re getting into training many others using a blog. Most likely you haven’t come across any of us.

Really wish this was LTE capable.

    • Anonymous

The lack of LTE is the one thing that is keeping me from rushing out and getting a D3.

I’m sure there will be a dual-core LTE phone with a physical QWERTY keyboard eventually.  I’m just wondering how long we’ll have to wait…

  • Simon Son

Does anyone know the dimensions of the D3?
I want to compare it to my D2.

    • Mr. Joe

I believe it’s thinner.  The comparison chart posted here yesterday I believe has some stuff.

I just cant get past the qhd screen. I hope its a really quick passing phase because they just dont look right. I went samsung over moto this time pretty much because of the screen.

    • Anonymous

Qhd is resolution not the screen. Damn this just proves people go by what ppl say not by using it. Pentile is the screen

      • Anonymous

how are you assuming im going off of what people say. Ive compared the two side by side and while they both have a “pentile screen” and the samsung has a lower resolution its still looks better than qhd.

        • Anonymous

That’s because it is super amoled screen on Samsung. Moto uses pentile screens which obviously are going to look worse than super amoled. The resolution has nothing to do with it hence why I said Qhd is resolution not the screen.

        • Anonymous

You do know that Samsung’s super AMOLED is also pentile right?

          • Anonymous

exactly what i said before i edited the above to say that pentile looks like crap. That guy had me so confused i didnt know which way was up. he made it seem like he knew exactly what he was talking about and in part he was on to something. I have the samsung infuse which is what i thought i referenced above when i said I switched over from moto to samsung. The infuse doesnt use a pentile screen so I still stand by my statement about pentile screens.

          • Anonymous

Fair enough but my Dad has a Captivate and I’ve used an Atrix. I got good looks at both pentile screens and they aren’t nearly as bad as you people make them out to be. The biggest argument I hear is that text looks like shit, this is completely false, black on white text looks perfectly fine and I have perfect vision. True, blue text looked pixelated but it wasn’t unreadable. Maybe it’s the OCD.

          • Anonymous

I never compared the samsung pentiles to the moto pentiles so ill take your word on that. Putting the infuse next to the atrix is a different story. The super amoled plus screens IMO are the best screens out right now. Im glad samsung has chosen to go away from pentile. All I know is, is that screens are looking better and better everyday and im stoked to see what the future will bring.

          • Anonymous

I fully agree with you there, AMOLED screens are the next generation of display technology, especially Samsung’s AMOLED+. Everything else is outdated by comparison.

      • Mr. Joe

        Amen brother.

  • I think I’ll finally drop my OG Droid, and pick up a Droid 3 when it comes out. I’m actually pretty intrigued by “Blur”… Not too interested in the VZW bloatware though.

  • Who in their right mind would buy this or any phone right now.
    This fall will have:

New Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Nexus 4G
New Apple iOS 5 and iPhone 5
    New WP7 Mango and devices

why not just wait to see what happens?

    also: inb4 fanboi

    • JJ

Nexus will never come to Verizon.
New iPhone…with an OS 3 years past it’s prime.
And please tell me you did not just tell people to buy a windows phone.

I’m sure I’ll be called a fan boy now too, but guess what it’s a website for android.

      • Sean

not to mention that 4.0 will likely make it onto any device that is coming out now.  my OG droid ran froyo pre-root.  post-root, the sky is the limit.

      • Anonymous

Agree ios5 copied what has already been in Android for awhile.

        • Mr. Joe

and they all copied what Palm has had for a while with Palm OS.

If you want to get Picky McPeterson about it.  All these smart phone OSs copy another OS and so on and so forth.

Therefore, nothing is original it’s built on an existing idea.

          • Anonymous

Yes but who sues who? Pretty sure apple sues everyone for supposedly copying their stuff yet they are doing the same with the next update. Pot calling the kettle black on that one just wish these stupid judges would realize that and stop allowing apple to do it.

          • Mr.Joe

            It’s called bullying.

We see big corporations do it all the time.  Hell MS tried going after all the android makers and have them pay them money.  The big ones fought and got out of it but the smaller ones caved in.

The only reason you sue someone for infringement is if they down right coped you.  Which I’m sorry to say none of them do.  They share features yes but it isn’t a copy paste job.

          • Anonymous

Yeah well I’m glad Samsung is firing back since they had products out before tge ffirst iPhone yet apple says people don’t know the difference. Just because apple is no longer innovating and trying to recover the ground its losing doesn’t give them the right to sue. But apple things they invented everything so of course they would do that.

          • Mr.Joe

I’m praying Samsung gets that ban on Apple products here in the States.  That’s really going to show them that you can’t bully around people.
What’s funny is that over in Asia there are actually copy paste iPhone look a likes all around.  Yet Apple doesn’t seem to care lol.

          • Anonymous

Its because Samsung is wiping the rug with apple. The gs2 dethroned iPhone in sales and as top selling. Apple knows Samsung is making a better product and has nothing to compete so they need o try and block the importation of Samsung phones. Its America if you can’t beat someone take them to court the system is so corrupt that’s why things like this happen.

          • This is hilarious. Are you a comedy writer?

          • Anonymous

So samsung isn’t outselling the iPhone with the gs2? I guess all ththe sales figures lied? Smh and the system is corrupt whether you wanna admit it or not.

          • that is correct the gs2 is not outselling the iphone.

          • Anonymous

He’s a lot smarter than you, deal with it.

          • are there anti-stalking laws on the internet?

          • Anonymous
          • Michael Scrip

“Its because Samsung is wiping the rug with apple. The gs2 dethroned iPhone in sales and as top selling.”

It’s just been reported that the Samsung Galaxy S II sold 3 million in 55 days.  That’s 2 months.

I’m pretty sure any iPhone can sell 1 million in the first week.

Also… last quarter Apple sold 18 million iPhones… and that’s with the iPhone 4 being 6-8 months old at the time, and the 3GS even older.

          • You are right. Apple is not innovating meanwhile iPads hold 97% of the tablet market and sales figures show that the iphone is slowing down the sales of droids on Verizon.

Looks like they are doing everything but losing.

          • Anonymous

Tablets of course because android isn’t there yet. But slowing down doesn’t mean anything you just go listen to what Steve jobs tells you about innovation lmao.

      • I have a feeling that Verizon will get the next nexus. Verizon is the only major carrier with out one as of now. But hey, who am I dream? ….. An LTE Nexus phone. yeeeaaahhh booooiii…..

        • Sr20s13

well some will say the OG droid was the first real nexus type phone

          • If you want to play that game wasn’t the G1 the “first real nexus type phone”?

    • I can’t seem to find this Nexus 4G at my Verizon you speak of…
Seeing as how this is Droid Life I couldn’t care less about what Apple does…
No thanks to any Microsoft phone,
but otherwise those are good points you make.

    • Anonymous

there’s always something exciting around the corner. you’ll just be waiting forever.

there’s a major Android version update every 6mo.
we already kno what’s coming for iOS5 – & the iphone experience still not good enough for many of us.
May be interesting to see what Mango has to offer, but would you really wait around for something you probably wont like?

Id rather renew my contract asap w something i kno I already like, and if all this new stuff is any good, then once it all irons out in the next yr, Ill be the first to be able to upgrade again. Unfortunately I cant afford to pick up new devices every 6mo.s, if I did, then… i guess.. i would still pick up the D3 for now, and get ICS/mango/iOS5 in 6.mos

one thing I will say tho… Im not all too happy abt getting the D3. Locked Boot, no 4G, low RAM.. but it’s really the only device w the physical form factor I like.  i guess Im tolerating all the disappointments.

      • you have made the most sense through out this entire thread and im with you on the last comment…..I just wish verizon had more options in android phones with physical keyboards for those of us with fingers to big for a fully touch screen phone

      • John Doran

Amen… I like Swype and Flex T9, but I still fall back to my OG’s physical keys more often than not. I wish there were some 4G w/keyboard options on the radar.

    • Anonymous

This may be the perfect phone for my daughter. She could care less about what is coming out 6 months from now.

All she cares about is Skype, texting, Facebook ….

    • Because I hate my DX2 that much.

          • Anonymous

            shhhh  we’re all adults here

    • Anonymous

You do realize that the next Nexus won’t be out for another six months at least, right?  Not to mention there is no Nexus available for Verizon and that doesn’t seem like it’ll change at any point in the near future.  Btw, I would say there’s a 98% chance this will receive ice cream as an update based on past history.

The iPhone 5 is outdated compared to the likes of the Galaxy S II and the Droid Bionic as are all WP7 devices, both of which are just starting to get many of the features android has had from the start and both of which have nowhere close to the level of customization.

    • Raptor007

If you are reading an Android Blog who in the world is going to buy an iphone or Windows Phone Phone, they are clearly android buyers.

Not everyone gets 4G LTE so deal with it.

    • And which of those phone that you’ve listed will come with a physical keyboard?

  • Anonymous

This is almost as much confirmation as the tiered data plans.

This is more it says launch date and when it will hit all channels
