Full Gingerbread RUU for the DROID Incredible 2 Leaks, Rooted Version Too

If anyone has a DROID Incredible 2 and wants Gingerbread (Android 2.3) early, then you are in luck.  The full RUU has been leaked for all non-rooted users, but recommendations suggest that if you want root in the near future, that you should hold off from flashing it.  Apparently, the root method that is still unreleased by AlphaRevX, will not work on GB, so you are better off waiting for them to release their method (which we’re hoping is soon) and then upgrading to 2.3 with the rooted files we’ve included below.

Download (non-rooted):  Gingerbread RUU

*To upgrade using the RUU, simply plug your phone into your computer and run the .exe file.

Download (rooted):  ROM | Radio

Instructions (rooted):

1.  First, we have to wait for root instructions.
2.  Then you can simply flash the ROM in Clockwork Recovery just like you normally would.
3.  Then you apply the radio, but it must be renamed to PG32IMG.zip.
4.  After renaming, you’ll drop it on your SD card and boot into the bootloader to allow it to flash.

  • Redmonsterz4yu

So if I do this on unrooted & I get a warranty replacement is verizon gonna charge me.?

  • I was about to be all excited, but then I realized this wasn’t for the original Incredible. 🙁 Where’s my Gingerbread?

  • I am glad for writing to let you understand of the outstanding discovery my friend’s child found going through your blog. She even learned a lot of issues, which included how it is like to have a great giving mood to have the mediocre ones really easily know just exactly specific hard to do topics. You undoubtedly did more than people’s desires. Many thanks for displaying such necessary, safe, educational not to mention fun thoughts on the topic to Gloria.

This is what I’m gonna do.I’m gonna update this with the non root method and when HTC unlocks the bootloader root when my warranty is through you should do the same for safety reasons

  • Needed to draft you a very little observation to give thanks yet again on your splendid thoughts you’ve shown on this website. It has been so wonderfully open-handed of people like you to provide without restraint what a number of us could have offered for sale as an electronic book to earn some money for themselves, particularly since you could possibly have done it if you ever desired. These good tips likewise acted as the fantastic way to be certain that many people have the same interest the same as my very own to figure out somewhat more around this issue. I’m sure there are millions of more pleasant periods in the future for people who view your website.

Welcome to my site effexor truth!

  • This is pure torturous, posting a rooted and non-rooted version of the most anticipated version of Android, for a phone that is awaiting a perm root solution. It’s like telling someone who hasn’t eaten in days, there are two options; he can either eat the one chicken wing, OR if he waits, he can have the entire chicken…..only….we don’t know when it’ll be ready. lol 😀

  • Jason Naylor

Can anyone confirm that this works with no problems?

    • Nicholas Goss

The unrooted method worked flawlessly for me. You will lose your apps, and they will not be listed in the market. But the only issue I had! Good luck!

      • Rayzkain

So did you save it to sd card, change to update zip, recovery, then install. Something to that affect?

        • Nicholas Goss

It’s actually a different process. The RUU itself is an exe. You run it, with phone connected, and follow the instructions like you are installing a Windows program. Very easy!

          • Rayzkain

Cant wait to try. U said u lost all your apps? Even the ones u paid for?

          • Jason Naylor

Yes I’m curious too. Even the ones you pay for?

          • Any purchases made in the marketplace will be on file; so if you went on the Android Market via computer….you will find them there.

          • Jason

Yes, but you can download the ones you have paid for from the market again.  It will show you have already  paid for it.

          • Darrienjackson

i think i bricked my phone i need help

      • Jason

Did you also notice you loose your 1.3M front facing camera it’s only 1M now?  this happened to me and my wife’s phones

  • I intended to compose you that tiny note to give many thanks again for your gorgeous things you have provided at this time. It was simply incredibly open-handed with people like you to give extensively exactly what numerous people could possibly have advertised as an e-book in order to make some bucks for themselves, primarily considering that you could have done it if you ever decided. These good ideas in addition served to be a good way to realize that most people have a similar fervor just like my own to find out somewhat more when it comes to this issue. I believe there are a lot more fun situations up front for individuals that read carefully your blog.

  • If I’m unrooted, how do I do this?  You say just run the exe file, but what should my connection type be?  Disk drive?  I’m a little scared, never ran an update on an unrooted phone.

htc sync and go download htc sync

      • MOTOX

so im assuming macs are a no-go?

        • Closielle

yeah, you can only run the Rom Update Utility ( ruu ) from a windows based pcc.

all you have to do is install the latest HTC SYNC. Connect through usb to your pc and then click the RUU and it will take care of itself minus checking a few box’s acknowledging your read the ‘readme’

Ive been on it for 2 days now, no issues. no bugs. fixed text lag and improved battery life and signal for me!

however, this may disenable OTA updates but it hasn’t been verified yet. you could still update via RUU when those come out and are available though!

  • I’m thoroughly disappointed here, unless I’m mistaken. To say that he has a “leaked” version, does that imply that it’s an early version of the promised “official update”? If so, that means the official version won’t have 2.3.4 with its updated Google Talk app bringing video chat, but 2.3.3 instead. Boo hiss. I’ve half a mind to return mine…

  • jnt

kellex is this the final or an early leak that could change a bit before the final?

  • Guess the original DInc won’t be seeing Gingy…

  • Cant wait til this thing gets root, then i can take my mom’s inc2 and play around with it xD

  • Rayzkain

looks like the link is down. Wont download

  • Wyattyoss

Do i have to wipe if I’m not rooted?

  • John_f_preston

So what are the possible benefits to this?  I’m not liking the stock HTC Sense, will this be any better?  More options?  Customizability?

  • David

Hopr a leak hit for the DX2… I get mine in the mail tomorrow from asurian….

  • Dkrussia91

    Cool, keep it up!

  • prolix

so, if mine isnt rooted, and i flash it. what happens when the official version comes out, will i still be able to install it? in case there are some other updates with that release?

    • My guess is you’d be able to grab the update manually, then apply it from stock recovery.
