So, Google+ is sort of back open (at least for now) to new members after last night’s closure, but in order to join, you have to be invited by another friend through a multi-step process. Initially, you could invite friends by simply adding their email to a form and clicking “submit” – today however, you are forced to use the entire service in order to get them invited. It’s not difficult by any means, and we’ve included the entire step-by-step process for you below.
Tip: How to Invite Friends to Google+
DROID2 Global Gingerbread Available “Soon After” DROID3 Launches
The Gingerbread update for the DROID2 Global was primed and ready to rock back on June 15, but for reasons we have been led to believe were due to bugs that needed to be worked out by Motorola, it was pulled. Some conspiracy theorists would argue against that after seeing this note from a D3 training document that just popped up.
Would Verizon and Moto really hold back 2.3 to make the D3 look a little more appealing? Not likely. In fact, no where in that note does it mention that as a reason, nor does it mention that the D2G’s GB is even ready. It’s “expected” to be ready which means they still have work to do on it. Also, if Moto is holding back updates to launch their newest slide-out with the newest software available, why’d they already give it to the DROIDX and skip the DX2? Exactly.
To help out the D3 side of the argument though, they did release the original DROID as the first with 2.0 and the DROID2 as the first on Verizon with 2.2, so they could try to do the same with this phone. Although, it would make most of us DX owners a little uncomfortable to see them running around bragging about 2.3 on a phone when we’ve all had it for weeks. The D3 is launching with a newer version of Blur though, so…who knows.
What we do know is that the GB builds currently available from Moto are filled with bugs – and once they get them all worked out, they’ll be made available to their entire lineup of 2010 devices including the D2, D2G, Pro and DX2.
And enough rambling from me for one night.
Cheers nessa!
DROID3 Specs Revealed in Training Document, Nothing New to Report
Training has started for Verizon’s employees on the DROID3 and well, there are absolutely zero surprises to point out. After being announced in China as the Milestone3, all of the specs you will see below were already known including its dual-core processor, 4″ qHD screen, and global capabilities. It’ll have dual cameras as expected, a ton of bloatware, Swype, and Android 2.3. Again, everything we’ve known for quite some time now.
If there was one surprise though, it would probably be the little note in there about it only having 16GB of internal storage and an empty SD card slot. Of course, it will still support 32GB worth of removable storage, but this will be one of the first times that we have seen a U.S. device without an SD card of some sort pre-installed. I say U.S., because my unlocked Galaxy S II from across the Atlantic only had internal storage until I slapped a card in it.
What do you guys think? Were you hoping for a reference to an unlocked bootloader? Confirmation on that will likely come much closer to release.
Download: New Skype for HTC Thunderbolt with Working Video, Other 2.3 Devices Too
Skype with Video was finally announced this morning, but the HTC Thunderbolt was unfortunately missing from its list of supported devices. Thanks to our buddy 0mie though, Tbolt owners are now semi-supported. Our devices are all running Android 2.3 (which is a requirement according to Skype) and work flawlessly, but that doesn’t mean 2.2 phones will work. So to those of you unrooted, stock and on 2.2, please test the file below and let us know if it works.
Download: TBolt_GB_Skype.apk [mirror]
And let’s not forget that the 2.2 Skype with Video that we leaked should still work.
*Works on Galaxy S II, Charge, EVO3D, Sensation and Thunderbolt running 2.3.
Cheers 0mie!
Path Makes Its Way to Android
The timing of Path on Android couldn’t have come at a better (or maybe worse) time. With the launch of Google+, it either doesn’t stand a chance on Android or it could find a nice niche thanks to the idea that Google’s new service has dropped upon us: limited sharing.
Path is like Facebook (it can actually work with FB) except that it allows you to really limit the number of people (50 max) that you share your life with (a la Google+’s Circles). You can post photos, share “moments” and even have conversations with friends/family. It’s all about intimacy and privacy, people.
It’s a great concept that has been popular on iOS for a while, but I’m just wondering if it stands a chance on Android now with Google+ planning its world take over?
Cut The Rope Lands On Android Market For $.99 And No Ads
The time has come for Cut the Rope, and if anyone has been playing nonstop like I have, then this is just a plain necessity. For only $1 on the Android Market, you can now feed the ever so cute Om Nom with no advertisements. The only downfall so far, is that if you have already beaten the free version (got 3 stars on each level), your progress does not carry over to the paid version. But hey, it’s like having a brand new game to beat all over again. Go grab it and rate it 5 stars.
Om nom nom nom nom!
Cheers everyone who sent this in!
Full Motorola DROID3 Accessory List, Inductive Charging and Extended Battery Included
The Motorola DROID3 is no longer a secret since we’ve seen a variety of pics, reviews and announcements for it as the Milestone3 in China, but we still weren’t sure about accessories. Well, we are now. According to our homies at Verizon, we should see all of the goodies you had hoped for including an inductive wireless battery door, an extended battery (1930mAh), multimedia dock and a window mount.
All signs are pointing to us being just a week or two away from a launch. We were told a while back that July 7 would be a pretty good bet, but others are hearing the 14th. Talk behind the scenes has definitely ramped up, so I wouldn’t doubt it if we see something official very soon.
Cheers ___!
