Nexus 3 Possibly Caught in the Wild, No More Physical Buttons Required? (So Fake)

Update:  Ignore this post.  The image is obviously just one giant sh*tty Photoshop job.  We’ve pointed out 5 blatantly obvious flaws in this idiot’s work.

  • http://twitter.com/RobbThundr Robb Manlapaz

even its flaws are its perfections, all hail the nexus 3

It theres not doubt there is some PS done on the image, but that doesnt mean it can be real.  This could just be and early mock up or a test device with certain elements removed via PS becuase of that.  I for one just want it on VZW. I’ll even tak it without LTE. Ive had and N1 and Ns before getting a TB and love both.   Hope we get some love here on VZ.

Now they can actually move to making 4.5″ HD resolution phones. They still need to cut more from the bezel though. Make it edge to edge.

  • ILikeButtons

Not liking the whole buttonless idea. Android already took a step backwards when manufacturers started removing the optical pad. Would have been nice if Android made use of the optical pad for a mouse pointer in the browser. It would make clicking clicks, activating mouse over elements and controlling Flash content much easier.

Am I the only person in the world who isn’t happy about doing away with physical keys? When an app freezes, sometimes the only thing that saves me is holding the back button and killing it (a la cm7) or using the home key. Making them software would render them useless in that kind of situation.

Zoom in on the picture.  Look at the left side where it touches the ball of his thumb.  Look halfway up the side of the screen…right at the divide between screen and black.

    Fake :(.

No way verizon is not part of OHA and seeing as how buddy-buddy google is with sprint I bet it’s going over there

Be nice if some of the devices would’nt look like iphones… It looks just like one minus the button! C’mon may be dialed internally but make it original externally….

  • Booboolala2000

Funny how Motorola seems to never have a nexus device. Except the XOOM. Sad.

  • Scott Hartman

I’m sorry, but that’s a fake.  Someone hacked up an image of an iPhone or iPod touch and dropped an HTC speaker onto it in Photoshop.  I’m not saying that Tech Hog is trying to pull a fast one, but that’s not real hardware.

That’s not to say that it may not have some truth to it (like hardware buttons will probably be optional in ICS phones) but that’s not the real McCoy.

I don’t think this is blurry enough to be a real leak!

  • http://twitter.com/LegendaryFenix Philip Luke

I think you guys are looking way to much into this phone based on the pics, people saying its fake ect. there is no way this is anything close to a final version, this is just a test kit. its there simply to hold the screen and the guts (processor, memory, ect.) together for test. assuming this is any kind of final design is like saying the original 3DS pics were what that system was going to look like. http://www.next-gen.biz/news/3ds-hardware-image-leaks obviously final design was far different.

I too hope this comes to verizon as this would definately be my next device, but it will look like is anyones guess. lets just pray it doesnt have a qHD screen.

  • Steelertown7

why no physical keys? Doing gestures is stupid.

    • Kwparker80

The advantage to the software buttons on screen is so that you can rotate the device in any of the 4 directions and the buttons will always be at the ‘bottom’ of the screen, no matter what that is at the moment. Works great on Honeycomb, and as long as the screen is large enough it is a nice feature. Don’t you think that trying to use the hardware buttons while holding the phone upside down would be confusing?

That said, it doesn’t really make sense to hold anything other than a 7″ or larger tablet upside down. The only real reason to do it on a tablet is because of the way some cases are made, and how the built in ‘stand’ is implemented, like on the Acer case for the Iconia Tab.

Each to his own, but I like the buttons onscreen.

The buttons on the bottom are one reason I love android. If they are going away, I’ll be pissed

A Nexus phone built by HTC will be amazing plus pure Vanilla ICS!!!! Hopefully this device will have the specs and possibly on Verizon’s 4LTE Network,  dual core, 1G of Ram  Front & Rear camera, Lightening fast and the final word of the year “UNLOCKED Bootlaoder”.

“Google Experince there is no substitute” :P

Why don’t droidlifers get Verizon NEVER get a nexus like deVICE its too vanilla for them they want feature phones running android

  • LarryL

For those mentioning Verizon, I all with you, as my Droid OG is due for an upgrade this August. But this post forgot to mention one information floating around the interwebz: this device is said to be “tested on HSPA+ and Sprint CDMA+ networks”

I think Sprint will get this one. I just hope it’ll come to Verizon as well, although the DROID line makes it close to impossible to get a NEXUS on VZW.

  • Anonymous

Maybe the physical buttons are on the side? keeping front face small while keeping the screen big.
    Just a thought.

  • Wartrends

hope Verizon gets this phone. NO MORE BLUR!

  • Riverjao

Mmm…me likey. NOW PUT IN ON VERIZON YOU JOKERS!!!

Like this is you think everyone who comments on this article thinks they’re a Photoshop expert.

This isn’t Facebook or youtube :-P

Look carefully at it.  I can’t do jack shit in photoshop, but I can recognize when someone messes up.  Check near the ball of his thumb.  Check the right side of the screen between the black and screen half way up.  Do a view image and zoom in with Ctrl + if you have too.

    • tjhrulz

I am thank you I have CS5 and I can do better than this

Let me photoshop your defiantly to definitely :)

  • thesaber2000

this could be my next phone if its for verizon.

does this mean we could change the button layout! if so im all for it!

Saw this on Android Central a few days ago, the story just does’t seem real. Now I don’t want to be the Debbie Downer here but I have a strong feeling that image may have been photoshopped…and i’m not just talking about the watermark.

If you examine the device near his fingers, mainly his thumb it starts to look well iffy. I can understand the lack of buttons in ICS but come on what has TechHog ever done?  I feel as if this was just away from another blogger to get some hits and exposure.

    What do you think?

  • Anonymous

Nexus Prime… yes! i will follow it wherever it goes, hopefully verizon gets it but if not i’m going where this is going! …

  • Thundarra

The photo has already been debunked as a photoshop. Sorry guys.

  • http://twitter.com/timberwolfkw Kyle Wilkins

I really hope Nexus comes to Verizon, and HTC takes the Nexus line. I would be sold right there.

I wish Ice Cream Sandwich features a fruitful set “gesture-controlled” actions so that a removal of those physical keys clearly becomes revolutionary :D

That would be great, IMO ^^

Nexus Optimus Prime will soon battle iPhone 5 Megatron.

    • Anonymous

LOL Good one mate :) But…

You have no love for Sammy Galaxy Bubblebee III ;)

  • SEAN

looks like their going to a physical model that more-directly competes with iphone.  what would be cooler is if the bionic is ditching soft keys for Ice Cream Sandwich as part of its changes.  if that’s up for verizon, i’m going to have to hold out even longer on my upgrade!

  • Anonymous

couldnt it just have those disappearing soft keys that some phones have?

    • Anonymous

The area beneath the screen is really tiny, so I doubt it.

  • Johncorfee

I really hope this will be on Verizon.

Same here! That device looks sleek as hell.
