App Of The Day: TweetCaster Premium

Before I get into the app of the day, I want to take a second to thank everyone who has been giving feedback about the apps we review. With hundreds of thousands of apps out there, I’m glad that this site can provide a path through some of the apps that stand out to us. So, thank you again and please continue submitting apps and commenting on the apps we do review.

Yesterday we reviewed Live Wallpaper Flip Clock. I saw some interesting comments on that one.

Today’s Amazon App Store free paid app is: TweetCaster Premium

Normally $4.99, this is a pretty big deal. Nice of Amazon to give away hot apps like these. So let’s take a glance at this one.

I know a lot of people use a lot of different clients for Twitter, so TweetCaster Premium being free should put this at the top of the list for anyone using a free client that has been looking for the upgrade to a premium with all the added benefits. TweetCaster does all of your basics and then goes a step further. From customizable notifications to themes to filters – make it your own. The app operates very smooth and as you can see, is one of the better looking UI’s in the game. So if you don’t have a twitter account, maybe now you should get one and take advantage of a stellar client to follow @droid_life with. :)

Enjoy.

Cheers to everyone who sent this in!

I can’t see comments from other tweeters at celebrity profiles on this application????

  • John

Is it true you can’t do a quick preview of pictures like with most other twitter apps? …like it can only view in browser

Nice! I live in Hoffman Estates. Small world…

TweetDeck rocks all over TweetCaster IMHO, and even some on Seesmic (great contender though).  I’m also not sure the free app a day thing is worth the bloatness of the Amazon App.  You have to manage apps downloaded through the Amazon App via their app, which makes a pain for updating apps, or anything via the Market or another party such as AppBrain.  And for god’s sake, allow a person to remove apps they don’t want any more from your Amazon App’s “My Apps” view… #stepsdown

where can i get that background in the phone picture?

Until Twitter changes TweetDeck it is still the best (and free all the time).

hands down the best app for tweeter. It’s clean, and works very fast. The best part is the quick view of pix without clicking!!

    • John

most free android twitter apps include this feature. i thought i read this app doesn’t support that feature tho?

Hmm I wasn’t going to grab this until I saw the story and comments here.  What do you guys think about this vs. tweetdeck?  What would I be gaining?  Right now, I”m really only using Twitter to follow a handful of people, I’m not actually posting anything.

  • Blutodawg

Not a fan myself, had it in the past and found it frustrating frequently. The newest update of the standard Twitter app is the best and most reliable I have found yet

  • Anonymous

Best twitter app out there. Zip it is such a useful feature

  • RW-1

Grabbed it… I have a twitter account, but hardly use it.

What I like about this is that one can grab an app, delete it, but still have it available for later, or onto a new device down the road…

actually you don’t have to even delete it you can just cancel when it wants to install. Thats what I do on my d1

  • Jay Wood

I love the free apps, however I think Amazon tracks your use somehow. I deleted the amazon app store and the programs will not work. Gives an error message saying you must be loged in to amazon. Makes you wonder, hm

    Thanks for the tip off!
I downloaded this and tried it out. I actually prefer it over the standard Twitter client and Seesmic.
What really sold me was having multiple accounts, including a Facebook account as well.

    Thanks again!

    • Anonymous

You’re welcome! Thank you for posting your thoughts on it. I really like the UI and multiple accounts, although that feature isn’t exclusive.

I’ve been using the free version of Tweetcaster for a while and even when I try out something else, I keep coming back to it. Thanks for the heads up – glad to grab the Pro version!

  • LTL11

Nice free give away and seems to have tons of cool features.  Widget sucks though, until there is a 4×4 widget that is like plume I am going to have to stick with it.

  • Beka

I am a “casual Twitterer”… “causal” may range anywhere from once a day to once a month depending on what’s going on in my life.

    I DL’ed this today to give it a try… can’t hurt… $5 app for FREE!

I LOVE IT!  I’ve already checked my Twitter several times.  The UI is amazing, this is so much better than the stock app, Plume, Tweetdeck, etc…

Good!!! It’s a steal if you ask me. Make sure to follow @droid_life now!

Mark, you’re not in Crystal Lake, IL are you?  Nice review.  I’ll give it a try but dang I love Tweekdeck.

    • Anonymous

Why yes I am in Crystal Lake. :)

I have a townhome on the North-East side (near 31) there.  I lived there for a few years.  Now I’m in Campton Hills (St. Charles area) with my family.  Glad to see locals on here :)

Awesome! I actually moved up here from STC. Grew up in Aurora. :P

  • Monoxide

What device stats widget is that?

    • Anonymous

LOL. System Info Widget by Jason Calhoun. Reviewed and linked on my MySchedule post earlier this week. :)

  • http://profiles.google.com/gorgio1 Alex G

what clock theme is that ? and on what bw’s? or Live Wallpaper flip clock?

    • Anonymous

The one in the shots is Fancy Widgets. I switch between that, BW, and Live WP Clock a lot. FW was free app on AAS awhile back.

Any Android device gamers reading this post? If so I have a nifty game preview you might like to see.

      Yes! Please share! :)

Warning- Mature rated preview. Violence and swearing in preview.

          Wow! Looks fun.
It’s good to see Gameloft finally developing concurrently on iOS and Android instead of just porting iOS games.

          • Anonymous

Yeah it looks Grand Theft Auto’ish but yeah, nice. I think this is the first gameloft app built for both, not just ported, but I can’t confirm that yet. I’m working on it though.

          • Anonymous

            That’s awesome. Keep us posted!

          • Anonymous

            And thanks!

Did anyone purchase this app prior to today?

Not too sound utterly cheap(because I’m not! Have bought more apps than have downloaded free ones), but you know how long I’ve been waiting for TweetCaster Pro? Like since the launch of the Amazon Appstore. Seriously. Every morning when I wake up, even before I grab my cup of addiction, I check to see what new free app Amazon Appstore is offering, in hopes of seeing TweetCaster Pro available for free!

And today is that day. Finally. This twitter app is, in my opinion, the best one available on the platform. I use it pretty much regularly and it offers many cool features.

And if you’re still not sure…there’s still no reason not to download as nothing beats FREE!

    • Anonymous

Yes this and FlexT9 are a couple of those,”Are they crazy??” free apps.

      • Beka

I completely missed the FlexT9 day!  I’m still kind of peeved.  One of the few days I did not check Amazon since the damn store opened…  (Of course, the SwitftKey Beta today makes up for that hurt a little bit…)

        • Anonymous

Well, this is why I started the listing the AAS free app in case anyone forgot to check it. How do you like the SK Beta?

          • Beka

I like it a lot, and I’ve been a die-hard Swyper since I got my DX!!!  I DL’ed SK when Amazon had it for free but I could never keep it as the default long enough to really get a feel for it.  IMO, the Beta feels much smoother.

Another app-of-the-day that’s going on the, “Why not, might as well” pile.

And I suppose and obligatory, “first” is in order as well. O_o

    • Anonymous

What types of apps would you like to see reviewed?

      • http://twitter.com/Sandelb Kent Blackwell

Oh no no, I didn’t mean to disparage your review. I do appreciate that you review the app of the day every day. When I said, “why not, might as well” I mean that I always grab Amazon’s free app of the day just in case I want to install it some day down the road.  I don’t use Twitter that much ( frankly I use it as a glorified RSS feed) so this kind of app doesn’t really appeal to me (the official Twitter app is serviceable enough) but hey, who knows? Someday I may become some sort of Twitter power-user and I will have this gem just waiting to be installed.

        • Anonymous

Ha! I did’t really take any offense to it but I’m glad you clarified it :)
I’m guilty as well. I don’t know what I need half of these apps for free but I just can’t stop downloading them! :P

          • Anonymous

I think that’s what we all do. Download it just because it’s free. So far the best one for me has been flexT9 keyboard.

          • Anonymous

            flexT9 was a great giveaway

          • http://twitter.com/Sandelb Kent Blackwell

I missed that free app day because I was travelling for business. I swore to never again miss another free app. I literally set a calendar reminder.

      • Matt

how do you have you clock centered like that with the weather above it?

        • Anonymous

That would be Fancy Widget Pro. AAS free app awhile back. It’s all one widget.

          • Matt

Oh ok, I thought it was a way you had beautiful widgets configured.

        Review “The Impossible Game“…lol?

        • Anonymous

Haha here’s your review of that one: impossible with a pretty cool soundtrack. :P

          • Anonymous

            Okay, fair enough…lol
