Exclusive: New Verizon LG Revolution First Pics

We dropped the first report earlier on the LG Revolution launching May 26 as a newly blackened, Bing’d out 4G LTE device on Verizon and are back with the first real pics of it.  The lock screen which as we mentioned is a straight MIUI kang is on display here along with that smooth new black cover.  I’m now torn on whether or not I prefer this to the silver back we saw back at CES, but either way will be hard pressed to want it knowing that it’s not a “with Google” device.  Here’s to hoping that it lacks a locked bootloader and can be rooted in no time so that we can all take full advantage of its above-average internals.

Oh and the packaging will look identical to that of the HTC Thunderbolt:

Cheers ___!

Wait a tick?….isn’t the LG Revolution the 1st and only Android phone that will be streaming NETFLIX? if so i might jump on it!!!

Thank you so much for providing individuals with a very spectacular possiblity to read from here. It is usually very nice and as well , packed with fun for me personally and my office acquaintances to search your website nearly three times weekly to find out the newest stuff you will have. And indeed, I am just usually astounded with your staggering hints you serve. Certain two tips in this article are surely the simplest I have had.

Welcome to my blog celexa for child.

Still FROYO, Still no front camera, but the best device being released that day. Id give this girl a spin at the dance.

    • Dodgesityballer

The device is not binged and actually has equal specs to the TB with 768MB of RAM but 12GB of On Board Mem. really the big difference is the camera with 5MP other then 8mp. I might get this device if those specs hold to be true

I think I preferred the silver backing to this new black.  I’m sure this one is cheaper to produce though.

So Verizon is releasing another LTE phone with last year’s specs running froyo.  In the meantime every other carrier is announcing dual-core super phone beasts.  What is going on with Verizon’s lineup?

    • Anonymous

Unfortunately, it’s the LTE antenna.  I know that T-Mobile claims they have 21+Mbps “4G”, but most people don’t get those speeds.  I do on LTE, in fact my average is about 25Mbps, not max, average.  My max was 39Mbps.

Verizon is going to get dual core phones later this year, but they aren’t going to be LTE (except the Bionic).  Once dual core LTE comes, Verizon will have the phones that EVERYONE will want.  Verizon is the only company that is in a major transition and it’s a shame that people can’t see that.  As will all growth and transition, there will be pains, but in the long run it will be worth it.

A year and a half from now AT&T will still be going through the pains because they decided to put off LTE implementation while Verizon is sitting back (not completely, they will be upping speeds through software updates, etc.) and relaxing because they have true nationwide LTE (4G) and they’ll be looking at all of the awesome phones they have.

      • Gg101

You’re probably right that the issue is the LTE radio.  I’m guessing the thing is still buggy and not playing nice with newer hardware.

I’d really like to have LTE, although I’d prefer a phone like the SGSII or HTC Sensation with HPSA+ to the first crop of LTE phones Verizon is releasing.  In 6 months this may all be a moot point as the manufactures get LTE to play nice with newer hardware.

I’m not sure I agree with the assessment that AT&T will have the same issues when they light up their LTE network.  Verizon is first to market with this technology and its customers are now the guinea pigs for the first crop of LTE phones.

My contract is up in July and I have little desire to reup for 2 years with hardware that is already outdated in many respects.  I’m leaning towards jumping shit to tmobile or sprint (they also have much cheaper ETFs) and maybe coming back to Verizon in another year when manufacturers are more comfortable with LTE.

This really isn’t a bad looking device, it just seems like LG is always a little late to the party on Verizon.  This should have been the first LTE phone released, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad it wasn’t since I really needed to get rid of my Storm and I have my Thunderbolt now, but the point remains.

I don’t understand the issue with LG’s subpar smartphones on Verizon.  I mean they make some of the best feature phones out there and Verizon has the best of LG’s best in that regard, but they just never bring the goods with the Android phones.  I mean the Ally and as someone else mentioned the Vortex.  It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Oh Boy! A single core Froyo phone. Just like last year. Can I get Windows Vista with that?

But seriously, with the Android vulnerabilities that have come to light, you would have to be crazy to pay money for a Froyo phone.

  • http://moxietechie.com Lisa

What is with LG these days? I mean they make solid phones… that aren’t smartphones. First the Vortex and now this…?

Well at least it looks sleek.

  • Jammer71477

It’s a great looking phone but Android phones having Bing is not something I like. Google devices should have Android OS, Google apps, the option for Vanilla Android and for those that prefer unlocked bootloaders.
If Verizon or any other carrier wants to put their bloat ware on a phone I would like to purchase they can also give an apps drawer in all Android phones for us to have the options to hide it because not everyone had the knowledge of how to safely root a phone the way we prefer it customized.

    yawn

Besides the Bing, I’m not digging the fact that they went branding crazy on the actual hardware.

  • amujee

Why does it require a SIM card on Verizon? Even if it was a world phone, wouldn’t the SIM be optional?

    • Anonymous

      It’s for LTE, not voice.

  • Chris Leighton

Does anyone really give a shit now that we now its slathered up with bing?

  • Emeraldjun

    WHERE’S THE DUAL CORE GOODNESS?!?

Agreed! This phone needs a Nike, Gatorade and Vitamin Water endorsement before I make my decision.

    • EC8CH

no worse than all of moto’s billboards… er I mean phones.

  • Thisguy

Its definitely a slick sexy looking phone no doubt about it, but the software is a total miss, and the specs could be better.

Verizon – Where are the REAL 2011 Android phones?!?

    • Anonymous

They should have gotten a version of the g2x

    • Ron

I bet It has to do with a contract with apple…

      • http://profiles.google.com/nerdydesi Nerdy Desi

I hope you are wrong. Damn you iPhone for making VZW care less about Android! Ugh!

  • Nkmett15

Not that I’m interested in this particular droid but, I would have much rather seen this devise in a nice silver like the original we saw… I’m sick of all the black devices that Verizon has right now. I’d like to see some different colors offered. I think this looked better in silver anyways.

    • Anonymous

      it’s not a droid

      • Nkmett15

Hmmm, you got me there. Guess I didn’t think that comment through all of the way… oh well, besides that my statement still stands for what I think….

    • Anonymous

while i still stand behind my comments about the looks of a phone not mattering to me, if this phone were available in silver that would increase my wantness of this phone…having said that, this phone isnt special enough to get me to give up my OG droid so an increase in the wantness wouldnt account for very much

      • Rbess1965

I don’t know why you guys fixate on housing colors. How many of you are NOT going to put a nice protective case or skin on it anyway? The important stuff is the battery life of this thing. It has the same processor as the Bolt, running a similar IU and same display, all on a battery that’s not much bigger. Is this thing going to suck on battery life too? If so, I’m really tempted to go after a Droid Charge tonight even though I’m really worried about its measly 2gb on board causing all those browsing with auto flash problems. The Rev’s screen is not as good as the Charge, but the 2nd gen Snapdragon and the 16gb on board sounds like it will make for a nicer browsing experience than the Charge. Thoughts?

        • Anonymous

exactly, the phone could be a pink heart with purple polka dots on it, as long as it suits my needs the best out of every phone available, i’d buy it…i was making the comment based on though, if it were available in black and it was available in silver as well, i’d go with the silver one, was the point of my comment

If nothing else, LG did do one thing right: That is one freaking awesome wallpaper.

  • Waknatious

Can someone explain to me how an Android device gets paired with a Microsoft search engine? I don’t get it… at all.

Microsoft Money+Verizon=Bing on a god damn android device

Does anyone else’s Xoom run like FREAKING CRAP since the 3.1 update??? I’m typing this on my MacBook Pro btw, b/c I just tried to type it on my Xoom and it wouldn’t work.

    • Mr.Joe

Your Xoom just doesn’t like being in the same area as an Apple product.  Throw the book in the trash and notice a huge increase!

      • Riverjao

Well, they do growl at each other occasionally. But, they both understand where they stand. The Xoom is the best tablet and Mac’s are the best computer/laptops.

        • Mr.Joe

          Yeah….

I know it’s been a long day and all… but yeah… that’s just no excuse.

@kellex:disqus the lockscreen stems from the LG env touch.

not really. The only thing they have in common with the Env Touch is that you slide up to unlock it, they dont even look close to being the same.

    • Anonymous

No, looks nothing like the Env touch and everything like the MIUI lock screen.

Pass, waiting for iPhone 5 with 4″ Retina, LTE, new notification system and widgets. Ah who am I kidding, I’m getting the GSII if it’s Bingless :-)

    • Mr.Joe

How would the iPhone have widgets?  It’s homescreen is a menu.
