But even the 600Mhz kernel he uses by default seems way faster than the “normal” kernel. This kept my D1 viable for a long time, but I’m taking the jump on this X2. I was waiting for a dual-core phone with a BIG screen, HDMI out and n wireless (although the most recent press release doesn’t say “N” anymore)… My wife broke her D1, so I’m giving her mine and upgrading.

No lte and encrypted bootloader. Fail. Weak. Who would buy a 3g phone when 4g is same price, even if 4g isn’t in your area yet

I’m sorry, but how exactly is this better than the original Droid-X? A marginal increase is not worth the cost of upgrade. I am dumbstruck that they didn’t see fit to include a front-facing camera. #FAIL

I really feel that HTC’s design team has also beaten Moto to the punc. The
Atrix and the Bionic both are ugly and just plain ordinary looking. Iknow
it’s more of whats inside that counts, butman it’s great to have a device
thats sexy w/ Brains lol

Waknatious is correct, only 4G phones at this time for Sprint and Verizon are able to do this.
and this is only able to happen in the 4G coverage areas only. If your phone shows the 3G icon
you will not not be able to talk and browse at the same time.
4G is cool but anyone with a 4G capable phone will tell you if left enabled all the time, it eats your battery up like rosie o donnel in a twinkie factory…. WHAT !!!

The Droid X2 is perfect replacement or me for my Droid X at this time. I want a unit that has a better screen, more ram a dual core CPU, Gingerbread OS and only 3G network capability. My area will not be scheduled for upgrading to $g network for 12-24 months from now. This unit will give me the maximum features until I have to upgrade to 4G.

Pretty sure that requires LTE, so no. LTE is fully packet-based, unlike CDMA or whatever (I’m not an expert.)
