Fring Group Video Leaves Beta, Hits Android Market

Fring introduced a new group video calling feature to a select beta group about 3 weeks ago and are already releasing it to the public for free.  The service allows you to chat with up to 4 friends from all over the world and on a variety of platforms including iOS.

The timing of the release couldn’t have been better, especially with Verizon introducing a couple of new phones that include front-facing cameras, like the DROID Incredible 2.  And I’d ask you to “fring me!”, but I don’t think I can handle that many video chats at once.  Go grab it!

This app works with the Droid X!! It uses the rear-facing camera (not great for video chat but at least it is something).

Point the camera at you…put a mirror behind the phone so you can see the screen…BOOM!

cool. another video calling app. maybe I’ll use this one since skype still hasnt released an official skype app with video calling. I think I’ll use fring video calling right now on my thunderbolt with 4g. oh wait. i can’t. i lose 4g connection every 2 minutes. well at least i have 3g as a backup. oh wait. no 3g working on the thunderbolt. i guess this app is useless on the day of its release.

maybe useless for you but 3g was working fine for lots of people yesterday when the 4g network was down. and in case you havent heard, 4g is up and running again…
