The DROID Charge Scavenger Hunt is About to Begin, Teaser Video is Live

Two days ago, the @DroidLanding Twitter account that has been used for a variety of DROID-related contests over the last year reactivated, which meant a new contest was about to begin.  And with the DROID Charge getting an official announcement within the last hour, a new landing page for the next scavenger hunt went live…along with this teaser video.

Hey guys where is the discussion thread at ?

I might do this just to sell the phone after. The first one was actually pretty much.

After going through the intense scavenger hunt with the Droid X I’m done. I don’t feel like solving anymore clues when they ended up being pretty pointless. If one is in NYC and I know it will be I may give it a shot on the last day if I’m free, otherwise I’m just going to buy a Droid Bionic when I’m due for an upgrade.

Who is going to buy this at $300 when there is the thunderbolt and Incredible 2 out there for $200?

  • Mr. Joe

    The video scared me =(

So… there will be at LEAST 16 Droid Charge users (if they resist the urge to stomp on it like garbage)… way to make a dent in the market, Samsung.

If you read through the rules, there are some hints. This seems to work just like the Droid X giveaway. They will post a final clue on Twitter for each phone they giveaway. The clue will not be tweeted until the phone is hidden. So the numbers cannot correspond to a hidden phone yet, because the phones are not hidden and waiting at this point. Just follow the twitter if you wanna win!
“Dates and times of Certificate placement will vary, but the final clue of each location will be tweeted an/or displayed on the map at the time it is hidden. Participants will have 4 hours from the time of the posting of the final clue to find the certificate and once it is found, follow the instructions to claim their prizes”

It’s not because it’s not yet hidden that they don’t know exactly where it is going to be hidden. They’ve probably already scouted the locations and know exactly where each one is going to go. If you remember there were some hint tweets well ahead of hiding time that gave pretty good idea where it would be if you could decipher their meaning.

Ok, so did anyone else get an app downloaded when you scanned the code? It says “scan the code to get this app” but all it did was open the log in and scan browser for me, no app.

Let’s just leave it hidden and forget it ever happened.

The video says “thousands of servers in the midwest” went down…

So did Droid Charge take down Amazon’s EC2? Now _that_ is an attention-getting marketing ploy.

Considering my city doesn’t have 4G yet, I highly doubt they’d give away a 4G phone here. Oh well, at least I won’t feel the need to waste my time on this.

Good point… that potentially narrows the search cities

  • http://level2studios.com Jared Sartin

Hmmm, Now to figure out how this one works with the “scans” – Thoughts?

    • Anonymous

After you scan, it gives you a set of numbers at the top. Don’t know what to do yet. Not long enough to be LAT/LON. Next tweet is supposed to be 10pm Est according to the site.

I was noticing that… been trying to do some number crunching and such… My initial guess is that it is just random, then come closer to “giveaway time” there will be more in depth clues. The thing that baffles me is that its X + (+ or -)Yi and they easily offer you to share it… There has to be something with this number setup.

Guess we will see at 10PM EST.

I think it is random for now. They change every time you run the scan. Doesn’t bode well for number crunching. But… that could change.

          • http://level2studios.com Jared Sartin

True, could appear random, but if there is a pattern to it then the number crunching comes in. I am just trying to solve the potential pattern… and pass time at work.

It also says u can scan up to 10 times per day for random give sways
