Once they added feint, and down resolutioned the graphics, I stopped updating this game. The latest version was (to me) a bust, and I was glad I backed up first and was able to revert to a previous version. Now, it might as well be free, I wouldn’t pay for it any more.

  • Droydhead

I dont mind installing free pay apps with DRM but I will never buy an app that has to have the amazon store installed. I dont mind the android market but 3rd party markets, nah.

  • Droydhead

How long is this promotion gonna last? I’ve grabbed every app since day one.. I hope it doesn’t stop! Fruit ninja FTW.. Weeeeeee

It doesn’t crash on mine (OG Droid w/ GB GPA14), but it stutters enough with multiples in the air for me to completly miss. Maybe a kernel faster than stock?
And no, I didn’t have this game before today.

This game is awesome. Everyone should have already owned it by now. THD version is even better.

I wouldn’t worry here. It is likely that part of getting your paid app into Amazon’s store is an agreement that they could for one day (24 hours) place it on prominant display for a free download… Now would it be for one year between free postings? Or just once?

The reason I say this is that so far it appears Amazon has placed some really good apps in the free list so far, and it accomplishes two things:

    1. It definately drives the Android public to their market, so you get plenty of hits and possible revenue on the other apps one might purchase.

    2. Increases the numbe rof Amazon accounts in general, you may more likely begin using the total amazon website to purchase other stuff.

Great job so far from them, nice layout, an app a day for free, some major developers coming onboard, it can only get better, and this evolution is a serious threat to Mr. Jobs and company. jobs was hears saying that the new market would lead to confusion, I say it leads to competition, and more choices for the consumer.

We now have more than one marketplace to shop at, and that is a good thing, whether ot not you decide to load it up. Do you only shop at one store for (example) shoes? Definately not.

(I was also thinking about a timeframe for free apps “purchased” as a sidestep, you have it but instead of like the google market for a return, you only had it for a specified time) I went looking to see if I could find anythign in that vein in “fine print” online, but none surfaced, IMO this is just a good deal for us, you get a free app, and have ot for the life of your account.

  • Coaster36

Are they still doing the thing like angry birds if you uninstall the market you lose the free games? That turned me off their market 100%. And now you need credit card info for a free app? Id rather pay the developer the few bucks.

too bad fruit ninja run a little buggy on my OG Droid

    • RonsterWVU

that is a good question…. Like Soundhound… They will find a way to make money again…

Damn you eddie… damn you, i knew this was too good to be true!

      poop mouth!

Yes. I already had one app update that was downloaded as the app of the day.

      • eddieonofre

        good to hear that then
coz would be really a pain in teh butt to get a free app and then when tehy updated not being able to get it updated
the amazon appstore is going well with me

I just updated doodle jump. For free…

    • http://twitter.com/EvanTheGamer EvanTheGamer

I think all updates will be free. Does it even say anywhere on Amazon Appstore that some updates will be free while others will cost you a small amount? I doubt it. That wouldn’t be wise.

  • John

amazon is smart. I used to go to there website once a year to xmas shop. now i go there every single fricken day.

seems like almost every app that’s featured on amazon, I’ve already bought lol D:

  • Anonymous

I was hoping that this would show up on Amazon’s free list eventually. Woohoo!

  • Cgorodess

Why do I need to enter my credit card info to get a free app on the amazon app store?? No thanks

    • Anonymous

I TOTALLY agree… Is anyone going to enlighten us on this matter or continue to ignore a valid concern being voiced by many of us constant readers??

      • Walker Mitchel

It’s because amazon wants you to register your information to an account so that when you are browsing their app store after getting the free app you it makes it easier to pay for other apps

    • Nemesis099

I think it is because they turn on one click shopping. As I make a few purchases through Amazon each year they already had my CC# although I almost always have gift cards thanks to coinstar machines.

    • Scott_okeif

Authentication? How does Amazon know who you say you are without verification?

      • TRAVieso

They’re giving it away for free, what does it matter who I i’m?

    • Coaster36

Im with you on this. Ill stay with the regular market.

    • SmellySox

Do you have a verizon rebate card? Mine had no money on it but it worked. :)

Really? Nobody can understand this? The free apps are enticements to get you to be an Amazon member and (hopefully) you know… SELL you something in the future. The Store asks you to set up your credit card, so that you can do “1 Click” purchases of applications you are paying for. In exchange for doing so, you get to download apps that you would normally pay for at no charge. It is not malicious (though you could say it is a bit sneaky, because they are relying on “impulse” buys in the future) It is marketing pure and simple. You don’t want to pay the “price” of setting up the account… then you don’t get the carrot they are dangling out to entice you to do so.

Amazon is on the rise in the Android world, but now looking to develop it’s own Android platform. I was just reading an article about how Amazon is looking to take over the reigns of it’s own Android development projects.

QUESTION: If we are purchasing apps (setting up Amazon Apps Store account for freebies), will these then be something we can download thru the google market

    • Dshudson

      Good question.

    • Anonymous

No! (Which I think should be obvious). Anything you download from Amazon would have to be updated through Amazon as well. As far as the market is concerned, you don’t have the app.

I’m wondering who did not already have it?! If they read Droid-Life they would have bought it months ago ;)

    • http://twitter.com/_majesty majesty

I didn’t have it …..but now I do woohooo amazon knows what they’re doing, shazaam encore AND the paid version soundhound for free? it’s only getting better

  • Eric

to bad its not the tablet version.

  • Mauricio Sanchez

I knew being cheap would pay off someday.

    • Nemesis099

I know what you mean. I have only purchased a few apps as I don’t really like Google’s payment method of small credit card charges.

  • Mike

Too bad I already bought it…

  • Dshudson

    Hate that game..
