I love SoundHound and i use it over anything else but for some reason and i don’t know why but I tried the one from amazon today and it was totally unreliable and would force close half the time and would always force close when trying to do a voice search. i have an older version of SoundHound infinity that isn’t connected to the Android Market anymore after i upgraded to the OG Droid stock rooted 2.2.1 ROM and reinstalled it from a backup. so i cant update it from the android market. And second, it wanted me to uninstall the current version i had to install the one associated with my amazon account, which was frustrating in itself, but then i lost all of my previous soundhound tags. i un-installed it and went back to the reliable older version. Anyone else have force closing issues with this?

I did a wipe and installed gingerbread yesterday. Google backed up and reinstalled all my apps except the ones from Appstore for Android. When I reinstalled the Appstore app, it immediately started downloading all the apps I had gotten from them. No charges. Also, I’ve received updates on their apps already. I’m good with them… Not sure why people have a problem with their existence.

Soundhound is way better than Shazam IMO. It’s faster and doesn’t require you to open the app when you use the widget. On a side note, Droid Life should do a poll to see if anyone has actually purchased an app from Amazon. I mean, what’s the point? You can get them all on the market with timely updates. I’ve grabbed every free app of the day that they have offered but I’ll never actually buy one off there.

Not really sure about this but it’s possible that your downloaded apps that were free at the time would still appear as free even though they aren’t anymore if you uninstall them. You probably would have to kill your account with Amazon to remove them from the list.

Sorry, let me follow up on my own reply to correct this statement (now that I actually read the developer’s agreement). Amazon pays the developer 70% of the sales price or 20% of the list price (the price the developers set as a maximum price), whichever is greater. So, for every free (usually paid) app Amazon gives the developers 20% of the non-discounted price.

I got this app and sang (incorrectly) what I could remember of a song I heard on the bus in second grade. Nobody has ever been able to tell me the name of it, nor have I heard it on the radio since, turns out it was Live and Learn by Joe Public. It was released in 92, I’ve been trying like 18 years to figure that out.

sad to say, but they’ll eventually run out of quality paid apps that interest people. Who knows though, maybe development will keep on pumping out good apps and we’ll have a way to try them out for free.
