Adobe AIR Update Includes Tablet Support and Better Performance, Where is Flash though?

by: | posted 02.24.11 | Apps, News

There is a big ol’ Adobe AIR update in the market and it brings the app some much needed tablet support, but also improves overall performance and GPU-based rendering.  Sweet, right?  The sad thing is, we’re still trying to see where AIR fits into our everyday lives.  After being introduced a few months back, I can’t say that I’ve actually used an AIR app since…but maybe that’s just a “me” problem.

Oh, and where is the Flash 10.2 download!  Let’s do this Adobe!

by: | posted 02.24.11 | News, Reviews, Tablets, Videos

Well, here we go folks.  The Motorola XOOM is available, we were handed one while at the Blazers/Lakers game last night, and somehow found a quick 10 minutes at 2:00AM to whip out an unboxing.  Apologies for the darkness and raspy voice, but it was one heck of a game.  We’ll have so much more throughout the day, so keep it here.

Motorola XOOM Live and Available from Verizon (Updated)

by: | posted 02.24.11 | News

The Motorola XOOM is finally available from Verizon.  You can purchase one right away online or head into a store first thing in the morning to experience the first ever Honeycomb tablet.  We’ve got one in our possession right now and in the 5 minutes we’ve had to play with it, are super impressed.  The screen is beautiful, Honeycomb is a lot more polished than we had imagined, and the build quality is top notch.  If you haven’t made the decision to purchase one, I highly suggest that you at least sneak into a store and give it a good 15-20 minutes to see if your mind can be changed.

We’ll be giving it a proper run-through as the day wears on, so keep it close!

Update:  Here is a quick dark room, late night gallery…

For those of you heading into a Best Buy or Verizon store early tomorrow morning to pick up a Motorola XOOM, you are probably wondering how the upgrade process to 4G LTE will work and we have you covered.  As expected, the upgrade will be free to everyone and will be available approximately 90 days after launch, so we’re looking at May before this thing will be cooking up those 4G speeds.  And as we were told by Motorola at CES, you will have to send in your device and will be without it for 6 days while they upgrade the hardware and software.

Full details after the break.

by: | posted 02.23.11 | Polls

In case you had not heard yet, the next version of the i*ad will be announced next Wednesday and talk of it killing the XOOM’s chances of success have already begun.  Since that’s a topic that no one on either side will walk away from feeling clean, we’ll avoid it for now and instead switch it up a bit.  What we want to know, is how many of you are putting off your purchase of a XOOM tomorrow until you see what Apple has to offer?  And let’s try to keep it as clean as we can, OK?  Hypebeast.
