Ok, I’m going to take the opposite side of the fence here – $30 isn’t that bad. Mind you, I’m not saying that I’m going to pay it – I have no need for the app. However, I live in the suburbs of NYC – let’s say, sake of argument, that I’m commuting on the train every morning into Manhattan. I can go and buy a copy of the newspaper for a dollar and have to worry about trying not to offend anyone by taking up tons of room with it on a crowded train, or I can pull out my tablet which I’ve made sure has been updated with that day’s paper and just read up in peace. And if I’m going to work as a trader on the NYSE, then if I can get copies of the WSJ, the Financial Times, and whatever other financial-oriented papers there may be out there for less than it would cost to buy all of them, along with giving me a quick way to go through them that’s a bit more… expansive than an RSS reader… yeah. For the right person, $30/month isn’t all that bad for this.

Thanks Matt. I enjoy reading the paper and something definitely needs to be done to keep information available. Sounds like a great attempt by this application/company, but I agree that people wont be happy paying $30 a month or $1+ each to read something they can find online for free.

I love information and it will be interesting to see what happens in the near future.
