There has to be enough room for profit. Verizon buys Thunderbolts from HTC and resells them to the public at a marked up price.
Practically identical? No they are not! The Thunderbolt has the new gen
processor that is faster and more power efficient. It scores 2000 on
quadrant, Evo scores 1100. It has 768 megs of RAM, Evo just 512. That in
itself is huge! It has 8 gigs of internal, Evo less than 1. It has 32 gig
SD, Evo 8. It has a new camera sensor, which means better pics. It has an
SLCD screen, which looks much better than the Evo's LCD. It has the new
Sense, with Skype video calling integrated. It has an aluminum unibody, the
Evo is all plastic. It has a nicer kickstand that can be used vertically as
well. It has Dolby surround sound speakers. It has Lte, which does not have
to be turned on and off like wifi, as is the case with wimax. I had the Evo
for 7 months. I assure you, this is a huge step up!

haha...calm down dude...i should not be commenting? Just look at the specs for each, they are practically identical. Lot of great phones coming out for verizon this year which is exciting. But seriously, HTC is an awesome company but they are pushing for the first 4g and thats all right now. Its going to be a good phone but do you really want to lock yourself in? Let me know how you feel this fall or sooner...haha

Really? Was that commercial an official Verizon announcement? Or was it just another leaked piece of crap? Cuz I know I've never seen that on TV, and I've been watching like a hawk. Verizon has not announced a release date, so nothing's been pushed back.

Unless of course they're also adding in the money they will lose on the unlimited 4G for $29.99 that was rumored, rather than going with a more expensive plan.. that, the 32 GB SD card, and the higher expenses to manufacture the phone.. $200 more sounds about right.
