Best Buy Will Hold a Pre-sale for the Motorola XOOM Starting February 17th

Best Buy is really starting to gear up for the launch of the Motorola XOOM.  We received confirmation earlier that it will be priced at $799 and that at least a 1-month data plan will be required to unlock WiFi on it, but that’s not all.  For those of you wishing to lock one down prior to its February 24th launch date, you are in luck.  BBY is prepping a pre-sale which starts next week on the 17th we are being told.  Units should arrive in store by the 20th, but obviously you won’t be able to pick them up then.

Cheers ____!

I don’t think you’re going to have to worry about being able to saunter into BB on day one and pick one of these up off the shelf…. At $799 a pop, they’re hardly going to sell out in most locales.

I’m keeping my rooted nook color close by and my wallet in my pocket until this tablet idiocy shakes out more fully.

There is no guarantee that any of the competing devices will be any cheaper than the Xoom. The G-Slate is going on sale in Europe for $1399 USD. The Tab sold for $599 don’t you think the 10.1″ with double the hardware specs will sell for $799, especially since they Xoom will be successfully selling for $799.

It looks like the $799 is the subs price and the $1200 is the full retail.

Maybe the $1200 is a “placeholder” for the actual price, but why not just list the actual price OR no price at all right now? Saying the tablet cost $1200 (when it may not) is like Verizon, Best Buy, & Motorola shooting themselves in the foot especially after the overwhelming bad press the $800 – $900 price has already received.

I guess they WANT Apple to continue to dominate. Hey maybe the shareholders of Moto are also have more stock in Apple?

The price of this tablet and the Thunderbolt is killing Android. Wake up Google!!!!!! They are using your free OS and charging a premium for it like iOS.

    Bwahahahahahahahah!
    $1200 @ Best Buy

Here is my f*ckin’ arm and leg too!

I like the tablet but there is NOTHING that ANYONE can say to justify that price.
If you defend a $1200 price tag, you are an idiot….
…. and possibly a little mentally unstable on top of it.

    Moto Xoom @ $1200 = Apple iPad 2 Win
(and I will never own an Apple product… but neither the Xoom apparently)
