All Gingerbread gives you is a slightly nicer button style and better icons. I’ve flashed my Inc back to CM6.1.

“Proof” using Settings.apk is cheap, because all it takes is a rooted phone with a terminal and a file manager and five minutes to change the OS Version from 2.2.1 or whatever it really is to Windows 7.

As much as I want to be on your side and say this is a port of honeycomb we should take a quick look back at the last two OS’s right before they would come out the web would be crawling with people’s screenshots of photoshopped “about phone” screens, but we found out that some were fake and some real. And since no one has really played with honeycomb yet I dont see any way we can official prove or disprove this video.

Why mess with honeycomb -meant for tablets- when “there is” a phone android release called Gingerbread? Where is my Gingerbread, damm it?!?!?!

Fair enough, though I’d still like to see a “settings–>phone info” screenshot…while that’s also susceptible to faking, it provides much more definitive proof of the Android version number, and is pretty easy to setup.

Otherwise, I have no trouble believing this is a port at all. Ports happen constantly. Gingerbread ports of the sdk were all over the place when it first dropped. Can’t see why the same wouldn’t happen here.

How was my post defensive? I think you’re confusing “skepticism” for “defensiveness”. I definitely noticed the resolution change, but that’s something that – correct me if I’m wrong – can be pretty easily replicated/faked through apps like this: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/change-android-screen-resolution-with-lcd-density/. If this is a true Honeycomb port, that’s something wonderful and worth praising. If it’s a fake, it’s worth verbally chiding, since fakes do nothing to aid interested folks in any way. I proposed a simple statement: we have absolutely zero proof that this isn’t a fake, and until otherwise I will remain skeptical (though cautiously optimistic). I see nothing controversial about my post.
