HTC Thunderbolt Accessories Headed to Best Buy on February 19

All talk these days seems to be about the Motorola XOOM, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about Verizon’s first 4G LTE device, the HTC Thunderbolt.  According to some new info we’ve received from our friends at Best Buy, it looks like they plan on having accessories for the TBolt in stock on 2/19 which puts the release date still on schedule for the last week of the month just like our sources have been telling us.  Normally when accessories become available at BB, the device they are paired with comes out a few days later.

Yep, we’re back into phone mode again.  Can February get here any faster?

Still happy rocking my rooted og droid. :)

  • RaptorOO7

So BB is getting accessories on 2-19, does that mean the phone is arriving before as we have been told, rumored and confirmed by many and the accessories are arriving late for BB? Or worse yet does it mean it is being pushed out a week or two from when we have all been told, confirmed and rumored to be?

In regard to LTE pricing not going up, I don’t see why Verizon would make a 3G smartphone distinction unless they were planning on doing something with 4G phones. Until I see a contract from Verizon and pricing on LTE this is one topic I am not willing to just nod my head in agreement on it.

  • MD

My friend works for Verizon and he said the release date for the TB will be Feb. 20th and the pricing on 4G LTE is not going up so I’m happy about that.

    • Anonymous

Most liekly will be feb 20….but you really think? because that means i should sell my droid x on feb 17 to get the best value on ebay soo……just try confirm….i didn’t think they would charge extra for lte at the moment….

I am thinking that this miight be my next phone, the Bionic is ugly and doesn’t pack the punch I was looking for likt the Atrix, and that thing is ugly too (but nice specs). The Thunderbolt is sexy and by all accounts the feel and craftsmanship is very nice. Still wanting to see the Droid X2. Uhhh so many choices and decsions, decisins. Oh and don’t forget “How much will that 4g plan set me back”???

You’re Killing SMALLS, Your Killing Me (The Sand Lot) :P

    • Anonymous

yep, not to mention i just dropped it :(…..but ebay….

  • jag518

Give us the 4G data plan pricing already!

  • 0mie

Hey, even with the $15 for 4G data plan I’ll still be paying only $20 for my smartphone data. I can dig it ;)

    • Black&gold

How is your data plan so cheap?

      • Anonymous

He might be a Verizon employee.

    • Asgljasgl

      nobody cares

do i dump D1 for for this? or wait for DX2

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=25001493 Hank Godwin

Wait for the DX2, or any phone that has a dual core processor for that matter. Your trusty D1 can hold you down until one becomes available.

      • Anonymous

id love to hear some reports on how batttery life is with the dual core/4g/4inch screen phones……

        • Cafutter

Agreed. With the faster processor and higher graphics, I imagine battery life will be an issue.

    • Anonymous

      dump it

  • Krobin 350

was told by retail store vzw rep today in dallas that the release date is feb 5 release date…

  • Fakeymcfake

    • Anonymous

really? so seriously i should sell my dx the 12th then right? and like it it will be on sale on the 14th of feb? if so how much off contract?

  • Anonymous

Everyone keeps saying the Iphone 4 thats coming out is old technology from last year. Well isn’t the thunderbolt old technology from last year since its pretty much identical to the Evo, and yet no one makes any reference about that??

    • KleenDroid

The Evo doesn’t have the same processor or ram.

      • Anonymous

also more rom, and dolby surround sound….and made of metal….

  • Anonymous

Can I buy a Thunderbolt and choose not to pay for 4g and just keep my present plan?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=25001493 Hank Godwin

      Nope.

    • Anonymous

Actually, I was under the impression that you can. Not every market has 4G yet.

      • Anonymous

please let us know when u hear something about 4g pricing for smartphones

      • KleenDroid

Unfortunately I’m in an area that does have 4g. The only reason I say unfortunately is that I already pay more than my fair share to Verizon for my families 5 phones.

I feel it should simply be the replacement of the old 3g network and not a reason for a rate increase.

    • DRoidxRocker

I talked to several VZ reps at the store, they are not anticipating any initial price increase. Now, this may change for those who buy 4G phones later.

Hmm…my girlfriend bought her Droid 2 Global on the 15th which means she has 30 days to return it. Maybe she’ll want the Thunderbolt.

    • Qst_more

Hey, this gives me an idea – I REALLY want the Thunderbolt, but my blackberry is dying fast and causing me all kinds of headaches… If I re-up with Verizon with some other phone at the end of this month, and then the Thunderbolt comes out within 30 days after that, do you think Vzw would let me return the one I get now and get the Thunderbolt instead? Hmmmm…

      • Pmaroke

        I believe they would.

      • KleenDroid

No they wouldn’t…. since their return policy is now 15 days :)

        • Qst_more

          Ah phoooey – it’s actually 14 days… just checked the site :(

          • KleenDroid

Ouch… But you can check out Costco where the return policy is 90 days! Maybe even Best Buy has a better return policy, I’m not sure.

          • Anonymous

also, i hear Costco is doing a buy 1, get 5 free deal

          • RaptorOO7

Best Buy is 30 days so you would be safe with that. As for the dates, the phone could come out before the accessories, Verizon could ship it before Best Buy, I mean anything is possible at this point. All I know is I am waiting anxiously since I sold off my DInc and iTouch since I only need one great device instead of two devices.

          • Qst_more

That sounded promising until I looked at Best Buy’s website and found this on the returns policy page: “If you are returning a mobile phone or device with a plan, Best Buy is not responsible for carrier charges incurred after the carrier’s 30-day cancellation period.” Since Vzw’s policy is now 14 days, I’m guessing the same thing would apply – sadly…

      • cyph

no because their return policy is 14 days now

      • Dalfwonton

verizon changed their return policy to 14 days so be sure of the release date on this

    • LeeInMKE

I believe VZW’s return policy changed effective Jan 16 to only allow returns for up to 14 days. So, if she bought it Jan 15 she’d have 30 days, but since the TB won’t be out until Mar 3rd (my speculation), she won’t be able to return it and get the TB.

    • Viper76269

i believe they changed the return policy to 14 days

Excellent, only thing we need now is how much Lte is going to cost

    • EC8CH

      exactly…

    • MD

My friend works for Verizon and he said LTE is not going up in price. It will be the same as 3G

      • Anonymous

If that is true, I will be one happy camper

  • Anonymous

I love this device but I am definitely holding out for dual core…if I wanted this phone I would have bought an evo eight months ago…

    • KleenDroid

The Evo is probably similar, except for the specs. The processor is upgraded as well as the ram for starters….

  • Pmaroke

Is the thunderbolt gonna be your next phone?

    • LeeInMKE

      Yes.

  • Droid1guy

    First!

    • Pmaroke

      Fail

      • Alex

I ilke the phone, but if the data package cost more than $30 dollars, then Verizon can keep the phone and the data!

        • RaptorOO7

My only concern is that the 4G data plans will be mandatory even if you don’t have 4G anywhere near your market. My market is likely to get it by EOY but I don’t see why I should pay extra for something that is not rolled out in upstate anywhere but Rochester, NY leave the rest of upstate uncovered by 4G. I have no issues paying more IF its unlimited or at least unlimited based on speed/price packages.
