I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 from Rogers Canada and a Moto Defy from T-Mobile USA both rooted and running on cutom ROMs and with no data plans on either…they are depending mainly on Wi-Fi netowrks. Canada is the most expensive country in the world in terms of data plans on mobile devices.

The milestone community is also trying to break the bootloader (albeit using a more direct method) by cracking the 1024bit rsa key via BOINC. Though this may or may not be useful to those using DXes or D2s, and it’s probably going to take extremely long, we do appreciate any help that we can get. =)

Our devices shouldn’t be locked down. Normal users will come around eventually and the unlocked models will get the business. That or we’ll all just get wifi only devices and stop getting raped by carriers. A data plan and smart phone isn’t mandatory and if they think they can hold us over a barrel they’re wrong.

In the meantime, try Darkslide 4.2… Im highly disappointed in Droid-Life.com for not mentioning this ROM for Droid X. It’s by far better then the rest at this point.

Hell yeah. There’s hope for my D2G! Now we just need someone to actually make ROMs for it. Fission is awesome though, I really just never want to see Blur on my phone ever again

Could you imagine…… Cyanogenmod on the DroidX???
I sure can, and have been…and will continue to think about how much better the DroidX will become once the Bootloader is conquered.
