This looks great. Android is only gonna get better with Matias on the project. For those of you who don’t know he is the guy behind webOS and it’s design and though the devices sucked I think everyone thought webOS was beautifully and thoughtfully made. This is the first release of Android he has had substantial input on and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to see what happens with Ice Cream and down the road.

    • Calculatorwatch

That is awesome, Android could definitely use more webOS. I would have bought a Pre over my Droid if the phone itself didn’t kinda suck and I didn’t realize that Android would always have way more apps.

    Honeycomb’s big. (yeah, yeah yeah)

Dude, honestly, what’s with all the spam lately? It’s the Apple minions, jealous of android’s increasing dominance, attempting to throw us off kilter! Well, it won’t work!

In seriousness, when we see spam comments, are we supposed to just flag them, or are there other actions we can take?

    • DBK

      Flag them into oblivion!

But seriously, the Droid-Life gods need to put some sort of filtering system into place to keep these spammers out.

How do you power it on if there isn’t any buttons????

    • Gregory

There are buttons, just not on the front of the device. Not Home, Menu, Search/Genious, or back buttons

  • Jroc869

This is freaking awesome. This has absolutely nothing to do with being a fan boy, but what the hell would any one want with a crapple I*ad after seeing this. I have to wonder how much of this 3d ui they where able to use from bump top, the company they purchased in may last year.

  • Sparking22

I saw posted on another website that xoom might be coming out on february 14th?????

  • Unfriendlymoose

I think this just ruined my thoughts on waiting for the PalmPad… Unless the PalmPad has equal specs or greater and a cheaper price will I buy it.

All this talk about honeycomb and Gingerbread still isn’t out?

    • Jroc869

gingerbread is already out and honeycomb is for tabs not phones.

      • DBK

Gingerbread is not fully released and Honeycomb will work on phones, just not as well as it would on tablets.

This could drive me back to a non smartphone with tablet combo. Cant see how I would need both. Save some money on my monthly.

This makes all previous builds of android look lame as hell

Very cool I like how google is using 3D, tthe UI is very polished and user friendly. I can see much more coming in the near future. I think I will be purchasing a Xoom shortly :P

    • Sparking22

I am just waiting for the pre order link lol

      • Anonymous

I am wondering what the next Xoom tablet will have in store for us :)

        • DBK

Lol wifi only and a better processor.

          Let the revolution begin! :)

  • http://twitter.com/hijackerjack Rohil Thopu

Gotta admit, this is really awesome!

  • shr1k3r

i really hope that notification system, task switching and 3D homescreen comes to phones!

  • DroidzFX

I want everyone to take note who had all these features first. Now that Jobs spies have seen what honeycomb can do I guarantee you will see some version of this on the ip@d2. Then they will claim they were the pioneers of widgets and notifications on tablets.

    • http://twitter.com/NovembersDirge The Observer

The sad part is that a lot of people will believe Jobs/Apple.

    • Anonymous

well.. and they will magically change everything…. again

      • Anonymous

        ….again

    • tommytmt

I know its sad isn’t it? Well at least in my circle people will know the truth … I’ll make sure of that.

  • http://www.linkedin.com/in/PhilHamlin Phil Hamlin

Looks outstanding. Is it true that VZ will require a data plan for this thing? For some reason, I always thought when you bought a Galaxy Tab for $599 ($499 now, but … ) — that was without any contract. False?

I need one of these but don’t want to pay any monthly subscription fees…

    • http://www.linkedin.com/in/PhilHamlin Phil Hamlin

Thing I just answered my own question by checking out VerizonWireless.com (how novel, eh?). The $499 pricing DOES day “2-yr contract price”, but then, when you click through to the product detail page, it calls it “full retail price” with “month to month” service. So then, does that mean you have to buy at least one month when you purchase it? I could live with that…

      • DBK

There is a wifi only version of galaxy tab coming out. As for the Xoom, you will probably be forced to buy that first month of service, but then be able to cancel it afterwords.

        • http://www.linkedin.com/in/PhilHamlin Phil Hamlin

Yeah, saw the announcement about the wifi-only g-tab. Unfortunately, I’m to the “who cares?” point with that one, and I want me some honeycomb! That demo looks awesome. Only keys now are.. obviously… pricing and availability! Can’t wait!!!

        • http://www.linkedin.com/in/PhilHamlin Phil Hamlin

Thanks for the info, by the way. Good to have confirmation :)

  • http://twitter.com/MBDOWNS Beamish

And now we can see exactly why Steve Jobs got so snippy on that conference call. They backed the wrong horse with AT&T 4 years ago allowing Verizon to drive people to Android phones so the platform could develop quickly. Now, in less than a year, their capstone product, the iPad, has been relegated to also-ran status.

The only thing that could ruin this is if Motorola over-prices the Xoom.

    • Anonymous

or if they lock it down like the last few droids. that won’t scare away non rooters, but i sure won’t be getting it if i can’t take the customization as far as i want

  • guest

Honeycomb looks like the start of a very user friendly interface. Google’s cloud syncing and app integration coming together nicely. Widgets are awesome.

i just jizzed in my pants

  • Anonymous

I really love the look of Honeycomb, I am genuinely hyped for a tablet. Can’t wait to see the actual reviews, hopefully Motorola doesn’t mess it up somehow.

  • Illinipoke98

    color me impressed.

  • Anonymous

anyone hear that he called andy “the droids”
    wow

    • Magicjboy

Yeah thats one of the ways the droid brand has killed android. While I love my droid x people just dont understand the idea of android and how droid is basically just the hardware and the crappy software overlay.

      • Anonymous

        it drives me insane….

      • Anonymous

it’s not even that. it’s just a brand name.

      • DaveIsAwesome

I wonder if there was ever a computer called the Window.

  • OreoMan

I have to have one of these now!!

  • http://twitter.com/EvanTheGamer EvanTheGamer

Sweet…makes me want to get a Tablet even more than ever before so I can use Honeycomb for myself!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IRXQUPRGYT353VRYHBW35SFHBM dustin

i duno what im more excited for… honeycomb… or launcherpro for honeycomb… (assuming that thats a possibility)

    • pezjono

(with a corny voice and face)
“With Android, anything is a possibility!”

  • Rmunks98

    more on motorola atrix please!
