There are so many new phones and devices coming out in the next few months that it’s almost impossible to keep track of them. Almost all will have front facing cameras, many will have dual-core processors, big screens will come in abundances, and some will even come with the latest version of Android. What we want to know though, is what the number 1 feature is in order for you to ditch your current phone for one of the future? Is it a massive screen? A powerful processor? Or does it just need to be running the newest Android build? Have to choose one!
Become Friends with Droid Life on OpenFeint and Battle it Out for Prizes!
One of the great things about OpenFeint and their abundance of games, is the social aspect provided by their Feint platform. Almost all of their games allow for some type of score uploading or achievement unlocking, but for me, that only becomes important when you have friends to battle it out with. As I’ve been playing Jet Car Stunts like crazy over the last few days, I’ve also been checking on my friends’ scores to see how badly I’m destroying them (hah!). , “We should build a community of friends and use it to run gaming contests in the future!” And that’s exactly what we’ll do!
All you have to do is friend us through your Feint profile, we’ll accept and then it’ll be time to start handing out some prizes. As popular games are added to the market or if we just feel like popping up an old classic one day, we’ll start spurt-of-the-moment contests that could last anywhere from an hour to a full day and at the end, we’ll hand out fabulous prizes. Sound fun?
Our Feint name: kellex
And feel free to drop your Feint name in the comments so you can build up a solid friends list to see where you stack up in your gaming ventures.
Also look for some new Feint features to be built into the app in the near future that will add to this fun community we are trying to build.
How to: Play Dungeon Defenders on the Original DROID
Dungeon Defenders, the first Unreal Engine game for Android was released yesterday, but the minimum requirements left the game essentially unplayable for those with an original Motorola Droid. Your device needs 512MB of RAM or at least 256MB free at run-time and since the D1 only has 256MB total, this was the issue we needed to overcome. Thankfully, the Android community is made up of amazing people and there is now a set of instructions that will get your OG on track to dominating this fantastic new game.
First step is to root your original Droid. While I have yet to try it myself, I’ve heard that these instructions will still root FRG83D and will be trying it once my OG charges up fully. This post will be updated with my results.
After rooting, you’ll need to head over to the Dungeon Defenders Forums and check out the rest of the details and instructions. You’ll need a ROM with a kernel that supports “swap space” plus an app called Swapper2 and you’ll be playing in no time.
You should be warned though, that using Swapper2 overworks the hell out of your SD card and will shorten its lifespan, so proceed with caution.
Cheers Daniel!
According to Samsung the Fascinate Already has Android 2.2
One of our readers dropped a link on us this morning from Samsung that clearly states in more than one place that their Fascinate should already have Android 2.2 running on it. In fact, their official site is filled with Froyo references, but without any sort of timeline for release, this does nothing except frustrate all Galaxy S owners.
Download: Honeycomb Music Player from Google I/O
Hello Monday night treat! XDA member johnnie93 somehow got his hands on what appears to be the Honeycomb music player that was featured last May at Google I/O. It’s super colorful, appears to have streaming music features built in, and fits the “new UI” that is rumored to be coming with the next OS version. If this is any indication of what we can expect with Android 3.0 (2.4?) then add me to the list of super excited people. While this app isn’t fully working, you can see where Google is going with it and now we’ll just have to sit back and wait for this music service to be announced. Awesome.
HTC Thunderbolt 4G Sign-up Site is Live
The sign-up page for the HTC Thunderbolt 4G is available right now for those interested. The device likely won’t be officially unveiled until next week at CES, but that hasn’t stopped HTC from teasing the world on an hourly basis. This new landing page doesn’t give us much, but HTC continues to hint at this more than likely becoming the first 4G device on Verizon.
I just have one question for you though…will you buy this device if it’s the first 4G LTE device knowing that it doesn’t have a dual-core processor and there are 3-4 phones right behind that do?

Download: Gingerbread Theme for Stock Rooted DROID X Users
For those of you running the official 2.3.340 update for the Droid X and want to have a theme to get you as far away from that awful Blur skin as possible, then this is the post for you. XDA member waremike32 released 3 themes to fit over top of a stock rooted DX and one of them will take you into the wonderful world of Gingerbread. The instructions are fairly simple, but we’ll lay them out for those of you new to the game after the break.
