Does it have a pedometer as in can it keep track of work outs indoor. (like Cardio Trainer) Also Will it show purchased after the free expires. Dang these are important questions for me HMMM Especially since I now have been dispensed with ROM flashing OCD thanks to the Evervol Gingerbread ROM lolz!!

  • Cindy

I know that I can download this on my own, but to save myself/my Droid a little effort, can anyone tell me how RunKeeper Pro compares to CardioTrainer or even Sportypal? I’ve used both, but I’ve become a fan of CardioTrainer (plus all of my infrequent workouts are saved in CT).

Thanks to any and all who reply!

  • Guest

Got the “pro” version today, but the old activities haven’t sync’d.

Also, can’t seem to uninstall the old “free” version. any ideas?

    • Kelvincym

I also have this issue, any solution?

  • Dagr8tim

Endomondo is always free and imho is a better program.

  • Lionel Hutz

I’ve been using SportyPal since my WinMo days. Since I have so many workouts loaded onto their site, I’ve never given another app a chance. But this being a quality competitor for free, I’ll give it a shot and see how it compares.

On an unrelated note, the DL team deserves to get paid for maintaining this outstanding site. As long as they note that the article is sponsored, I fully support them. Keep up the quality work.

  • Rodeojones000

I plan to give this a try, as I am a runner. But for those interested and miss the boat on this free version, there's an app called Endomondo that does everything this one here does and it's always been free (and it works great). And there are no ads.

  • Higher_Ground

Might have to give this one a try. I've been using Route Tracker Lite and it's been really useful. I'm not sure I believe the altitude readings, but then again I've never used a GPS that was anywhere accurate with altitude anyway.

Just from the screenshot this looks like it does a little more, like estimate calories burned. I think I'll give a shot since it's free and see if I like it more. Would be nice if it allows for KML exports

  • eddieonofre

Kellex did you change the site name to Droid Lite???

  • Originalme8

Link doesn't seem to work for the market scan.

  • Jawshua

Since you silenced people on the Chase post, because they speak the truth, I'll just have to post it here. Closing the thread reinforces my point even more why doing these plugs are not good…

I swear some of this is not news as much as it is a paid plug advertisement.

I mean is having a Chase app really worth talking about? There used to be a lot less marketing plugs on here. I know you need to make money like anyone else but really, a Chase app….

How do you guys know they paid him? And even if they did, how is it any of your business? Now, I don’t know what kellex does for a living, but I can tell you that if he had time for a full time job, wouldn’t that take away from his devotion to this site? He’s gotta get paid somehow. Go start your own website and do it for free. Im sure mom and dad would let you set up shop in their basement :P

    • AnDroidSepTIX

Its funny if the header of the post doesn’t interest me I dont click on it and dont read it. Just like all the other ads on the web.

But if nobody ever says anything Kellex will go crazy and start posting I*phone stuff or something

    • Will

quit your winning! what do u think this blog is for? I use it all the time for finding out about new apps. If u dont like it, dont read it and move on to the next story

    • Dptku

Get a life man. They did nothing wrong.

    • Anonymous

I guess you didn’t see where three people sent this in to him…

    • DBK

Are you really so passionate about this that you had to post it under another article? Or are you just that starving for attention?

    • Cgmartin33

They always highlight new apps…Chase being one of my favorites. I have multiple accounts at two banks and this has saved an unbelievable amount of time in my life. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that other people aren't interested. Its sort of like that fat stripper…there's someone (or something) for everyone. ;)

    • Michael_NM

I hope one of your new year's resolutions is to quit complaining…

    • http://twitter.com/BlackTaxi2d Henry Sura

the chase app actually said paid advertisement Jawshua

also, for a site like this, wouldn't you be glad that kellex and his crew are getting paid ? probably the best android site out there and we don't have to donate or pay a dime. man up, at least the ads are relevant. even cyanogenmod asks you to donate on his main page XD

also, this is the BEST running app. so glad its free :D

    • 00McD00

75% of the reason that I come to this site is to learn about new apps and see which good apps are on sale. Would I have ever known that I could get this app for free (which is normally $10) if they wouldn't have told me here? Most definitely not. Will everyone on here use an app like this? No, but I would guess a fair share of them will. You are entitled to your opinion, but think about the big picture before posting it…twice.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10215724 Raj Bhatt

Unfortunately, I agree. I've been visiting this site at least 20 times a day since it was first started. And I don't think this little sellout was necessary. Ads are a necessary evil around the outside of the page, but polluting the articles isn't right. Kellex and his team works hard to produce good information for us, and even though I use the Chase app, it doesn't deserve to have its own write-up because they paid him a few dollars. It destroys the integrity of the articles that Droid-Life works so hard to provide.

      • http://twitter.com/BlackTaxi2d Henry Sura

how about instead of visiting the site >20x a day you set up google reader

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10215724 Raj Bhatt

but then i would have to do work.

        • Anonymous

          Goo Onnn …..

    • Higher_Ground

I guess you missed the post where he gave away $200 to droid life readers…

    • Anonymous

I, for one, am glad that Kellex posts these on here. I love the Chase app, and I never would have known about it were it not for this site. This app looks like another win; keep up the good work, Droid Life!

Honestly, it really isn't that bad…give it a week, you won't be disappointed. With your phone in hand you have some many options and entertainment choices.

  • elemeno

Anyone know of a good running app that doesn't use gps (works on a treadmill).

    – Droid X user who misses Nike+

    • http://twitter.com/mnkyhead mnkyhead

CardioTrainer has a treadmill option, it works by using the length of your stride, so it probably isn't really accurate, but it gives you a general idea of your stats. I still haven't figured out how to measure my stride though…

      • Higher_Ground

you could chalk your shoes on the treadmill or just run outside in some mud/sand/snow where you can see your footprints. I guess it really depends on your speed, but don't treadmills usually tell you these kind of stats?

  • DBK

Question: It's free and with no ads, right? What's to stop them from bringing back those ads in the next update? Or charging to get the next update?

Being a devil's advocate here, so be gentle. :)

    • kellex

They have a free/lite version and a pro version. They are offering up the pro version for free and it does not contain ads.

      • DBK

If it was running for $10 bucks, it better be the Pro version, lol. That answers one question, but what about the other? Could they charge to let us receive updates?

Again, just playing devil's advocate, so don't kill me. :)

ps: I plan on getting this, by the by.

        • Doug Ivks

If they charged for updates, they would also be charging people again that had previously paid for the app. Not likely.

          • DBK

Good point. Although I’m sure they have a way of tracking the free downloads and only charging those particular consumers, I agree that that is highly unlikely.

Ok, I’m done being a devil’s advocate. Gonna go download this now. Thanks for the responses :)

    Who runs these days?

    • Anonymous

      I do.

    • kellex

I run to the fridge and toilet…errr tmi.

      • RogMon

ACK.. Need some drano for my minds eye now! LOL But seriously Kellex you run a fricking awesome site and have referred many here, gotten great info and visit multiple times daily. Keep doing what you’re doing, and don’t listen to the poor negative children who got coal in their stockings this Christmas!

      • Michael_NM

Actually, you “run” the best blog on the planet. :-)

The idea of you running to the toilet notwithstanding…

      • DBK

        O.O

  • Br_d

I love the concept of these GPS running apps, but the reality is that my droid is too clunky to take with me on runs.

    • Anonymous

I run with mine and have no issues. I have a Belkin armband made for an iPod/iPhone and my Droid fits just fine (just a little snug).

  • Aubreyvt

What the hell is all the complaining about “are u getting paid for this”….. hope to hell u are Kellex. If not they should be paying u. U all do a great job at DL. Keep up the great work. Happy New Year everyone.
