Gameloft Offers up Dungeon Hunter for Free

Gameloft, who has frustrated many of us with their non-Android Market approach to selling their games, has done something awesome today by offering up Dungeon Hunter for free! As far as I know, the deal is for today only, so you may want to jump on this right away.

All you have to do is open up your mobile browser and visit: http://www.gameloft.com/free-hd-game/

After that, you will be able to download the game, install it and enjoy! Well, it will require you to download an additional 181MB of data after installing, but you are good with that right? Awesome games, take up awesome space.

Droid 1, it recognizes my phone but the download fails every time. Unfortunate for them. It turns what would have been a fantastic customer experience into a truly frustrating one.

Well, my carrier's not listed. But try using the “Chrome to phone” app to send the link to your phone and it will take you to the download link.

It won't run for me. I installed it, created a character, and after the loading screen it just closes back to my home screen again. Anyone else having the same problem? (moto droid)

I uninstalled/reinstalled and still ran into the same issue. Lets me choose my character class, enter my name, finishes loading and then blacks out to my homescreens. I'm running Sapphire 1.1.1 on my OGDroid.

Same thing is happened to me, and then I changed the controls back to “virtual stick” from “touch” and now I can get through about 30 seconds of the game before it randomly goes back to the homescreen, annoying

I had the same problem. I uninstalled quick desk and the game finally worked. Maybe has something to do with memory since I had both adw and quick desk forced in memory.

But I can only play the game for a few minutes due to heating issues.

Worked on my Droid X just fine. Better than Dungeon Defenders because the camera is a lot less buggy.

ack! i figured it out, i forgot i had my “user agent” set to desktop and not android in my dolphin browser settings. changing it back to android got it working!

I wonder if the problem some are having with downloading has to do with enabling installation of non-market apps.
Have you made sure you enabled them? Menu-settings-applications-check the box for Unknown Sources.

Hmm, recognized my phone at the link above but when I went to install from the SMS it didnt. After I manually put it in it took me to page where I could but it for $5. Sounds a lot like the ole BAIT AND SWITCH routine so far.

Although I use Dolphin HD as main browser iI just tried it with the stock browser and IT WORKED. Shows up as 7.95 Mb on my sd card. (Droid w/ Lithium Mod) (and i have downloads set to sd card)

It only takes up ~7MB's in the internal memory. After installing it downloads the larger resource file to your sd card.

i just tried to get it… after i clicked the link in the SMS that it sent, it said it couldn't identify my phone (droid 1) so i selected the model (Motorola A855 Droid) in the menu that popped up next. then i just get brought to what seems like a gameloft storefront webpage… and it lists dungeon hunter as $4.99, and i don't see any option or link to get it for free. anyone else having this issue?

I have a bit of an issue with this download. When I went to install it, it asks for permission to “read, edit, and send sms messages”. Why would this game need access to my messages? I personally DO NOT install any app that requests questionable permissions unless it's something like Twitter, a homescreen app, or Titanium Backup, etc.

Gameloft is apparently having problems with some phones not downloading. My bet would be the Incredible and the Samsung Galaxy S phones. As such, they are extending the freebie for a while, while they sort out the problem.

Stupid Gameloft. I visit the site and it tells me there are no games for my model. I have a Fascinate. This is why they should be on the market. It isn't like it's too low end to run the games.

Sucks for anyone using google voice as their main text service. I have text blocked on my verizon # and just use my google voice number. Wont send to my google voice # and obviously I can't have it sent to my actual Verizon #. Oh well

After I clicked on the link from the text, it said it couldn't recognize my phone, so I manually entered which phone I had. After that it recognized my Droid X, but the game was no longer free. Any ideas?

went through the site on my Inc, selected phone model, gave phone number…got the message with the download link….click (tap), fail. message says there are no games for my phone. Even though the Inc is one of the drop down selections.
