Video: Samsung Tab Gets First Unboxing, We Start Drooling

The Samsung Galaxy Tab just received its first unboxing and I think we are officially on board with this device.  There have been hands-on videos out and about for a month now, but to see someone take this 7″ beauty out of retail packaging, turn it on and start dominating the web with full Flash in under 10 minutes is pretty amazing.  The build quality on this device is superior to every other tablet we’ve seen out and includes so many amazing features like dual cameras, AMOLED screen, 1.0GHz Hummingbird, and semi-vanilla Android 2.2 that it’s hard not to start drooling immediately.  Hello, early X-mas present.

wait…. the galaxy tab doesnt have a Super AMOLED……

  • wafflecopter

I just don't understand the point…why would I buy a giant smart phone if its less than 3 inches bigger than the one I already have?

  • Ah0096

What the heck is this device? A tablet? A phone? I don't understand it…

  • Dsolinap

Of all the Android tablets out there, this one is freakin' awesome! droid 2.2, Flash 10, much like the Witstech A81E has, although samsung tab has a way higher price. can't wait to get my hands on this one =)

  • Ruikenshin

that right there…. that right there… all i gotta say is when does it come out… got money ready

  • mikeym0p

I'm loving the MIUI like smooth scrolling they put in to the menus

  • droidaholic

    I don't care! It's not an I*ad! lol

  • poo

since when does it have an amoled display?

  • imaog79

it doesnt have an amoled screen it has a tft screen if it was amoled it would have a resolution of 800×480

  • Patwww

The iPad is about the same IMO. If you are a complete geek, the Samsung Tab is better. The camera is the only big thing thats better. And the GPS, but who the hell would use that as a GPS lol.

    • Zeadaplaya

maybe people like to take pictures, or video record, or make phone calls, or have a pocketable device, or have an open sourced marketplace, or have far more customization, or pay less money, or play flash stuff, or video chat (not just on wifi either!), or multitask, or have faster web speeds (froyo baby!), or ect.

  • cdmoore74

Get ready for your first ass kicking apple and expect more to come.

  • CallMeCrow

. . .I don't like the screen size, at all. It's too large and awkward to be comparable to a cell-phone, and too small (in my opinion) to make an effective netbook replacement (which is what I want or at least a close approximation thereof when buying a tablet).

I like the form factor of the i*ad. The screen real estate is nice (can't mistake it for anything other then what it is)- though I wish they'd maximize the use of it by reducing the size of the one inch bevel bordering the screen.

Its OS is optimized to work well and fast, and every app that's created for it is made to compliment what it can do – rather then leave us frustrated at all those things it can't.

I prefer an app with some limitations over one that promises the moon but can't deliver (I'm looking at you Flash).

I prefer droid, I have since the OS first launched. Still, when it comes to tablets and what I want from one (which is basically a media friendly device with web browsing and some word processing capabilities) the i*ad is the best out there thus far, imo.

I'll refrain from buying one until I see what Motorola has in the offerings, who knows – they might bring to the table exactly what I want and need – until then let me reiterate: the i*ad is my choice for top tablet.

  • Killer4247

Kellex I thought theyvsaid it would have an lcd screen because cost was too high for amoled

  • http://www.CRTechnology.blogspot.com CRTechGuy

Have you used Android before Leroy? Try it out and you will see why there is so much hype surrounding this thing.

  • dylan84

That is one sexy looking tablet. I want one.

  • The350zWolf

Looks awesome. One downer, no replaceable battery :^( . Also the pricing :^/ Size is right. I'll wait to compare to moto stingray then decide.

  • nobottom

To people who can't imagine making a phone call on this you can use the supplied headset or a Bluetooth headset.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ThornfullessRose Devin Jones

i would rather get this than the i(menstrual)pad

  • http://twitter.com/teardropcity matt wheeler

I love my DroidX (and my OG Droid before it), but this tablet kinda overwhelms me. I want to be excited by it,but it's just like a giant Android phone, in the way that the iPad is just a giant iPhone. I want a tablet with an OS that is really made for it. Guess I'll keep waiting for Gingerbread or Honeycomb, but honestly if the Blackberry Playbook is anything like the video they made for it, I would go for that.

  • Stephen D

Hmm. I kinda want one, but I feel like it would be useless since I have a Fascinate. It has fantastic hardware. If I were to get a tablet, I'd consider one like this. The iPad's size is too big for me. This seems sized much better. Seeing this in a video is tempting…

    • cdmoore74

Same thought as well. My droid x has the portability factor thus I would use it more than the galaxy tab. Still waiting for dual processors, dual camera's, 4.3 1280×720 display to sweep me off my feet. Oh, and most important, a price of $200.

    • Killer4247

The guy said its running froyo

      • Stephen D

So… my recent ROM has flash for 2.1. Froyo is coming this month(hopefully), and Birdman is working on Froyo using the source code that was leaked. My phone is already faster than any Froyo device, besides this, anyhow.

  • Lhsf

Android needs to seriously step up its game if it wants to dominate the tablet realm. Where's the hell is ginger bread!!!!!!

    • Hifff

I agree. I love me some android but some differentiation needs to occur in this software to make the leap to a larger form-factor. I hope android doesn't just do what apple did and make the resolution higher and leave everything else in the os the same. And can't we shove some more hardware into this thang? HDMI 8mp camera, 1.2 ghz?

  • FortitudineVincimus

can you imagine how stupid you would look making a phone call on such a device of this size?

pretty slick looking and form factor… no replaceable battery BLOWS!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000163993649 Kierra Jones

Looks kinda small…i need more, 10 inches please

    • FortitudineVincimus

then imagine making a phone call on a 10″ device…. bwa ha haa ha ha.. absurd

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000163993649 Kierra Jones

true, but I have my DX to talk, I want my tablet to play.

        • FortitudineVincimus

yeah but then you have to have 2 “phone” plans, no? they are “phones” first, no? so you cant just buy it for a tablet, you have to buy it as a phone.

          • http://perpetualn00b.tumblr.com quiklives

            Bluetooth headset.

  • jtwildman1

looks BA… now what kind of pricing???

  • banditball

They should bring it to the world with an *pad labeled jacket on it and see how excited all the *pple fans are for it and all the reviews and here them rant on and on again. Then give them all a big ” SURPRISE!!” its actually a Samsung Galaxy Tab! Bet immediately they would start ripping it a new one…..

  • EvilDroid

well i like it more and more and more

  • droydhead

definitely nice, I wouldn't mind owning one… But I'll wait for a 10 incher with Gingerbread..

  • Bret

I wonder how long its going to take to get custom ROMs on the Android Tablets…

  • futurecop

why are people in such a rush for this thing? I'd much rather wait for a 10″ to be released so i can actually enjoy watching videos on it…if someone has a 4.3″ Droid X, paying a bunch of money for something 2.7″ bigger is like buying a 24″ TV and then buying a 27″…it just doesn't make sense….come on 10″ Tabs!!!!

  • Delwyn77

Is anybody planning on getting the Archos 10 tablet when it is relased?

  • http://www.facebook.com/justin.munroe1 Justin Munroe

    that is some great packing

  • http://twitter.com/TonyG916 Tony Garza

very nice…i want 3.0 on tablet though and dual core processors. super amoled if im not being too greedy

  • Sjschwar

I'm looking for something a little bigger screen wise, my cellphone is almost that big

  • GOGO

Looks like a giant cell phone. BORING!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=707166291 John Lee

big winning point mic and sim slot… apple sucks my samsung

  • 1bad69z28

I think this is so Cool, but I am waiting to see what Moto is coming out with, and then compare features. I like that Android is taking a BIG BITE out of Apple and leaving the core to throw in the trash lol.

I hope Moto comes out with something special, that doesn't leave us hanging. .

  • Mth2134

I still wonder why no HDMI out. Would have been nice for face to face with the front cam…..

  • Leroy1983

Can someone please explain how this is superior to the iPad. I does have a camera I'll give u that but what else. And don't mention hardware specs like ram & CPU because the average consumer don't care about that. I'm talking about the user experience & everything else. So please help me understand. And please w/ real explanations not just “i hate apple & jobs is evil no sense.

    • anymouse

I find my iPad to be very uncomfortable to use for more than a few minutes at a time. It’s too wide to hold with one hand comfortably. Too wide to hold with both hands to type with my thumbs. Too heavy to support with one hand while surfing the web. I’d put a silicone skin on it hoping it would help keep it from sliding out of my hand while navigating around the screen with the other hand, but that didn’t work either. I’d have to prop it up somehow, and at that point, might as well use my laptop, which would better display all websites anyway. Also, I don’t know if it’s just me, but the browser crashes regularly when I am surfing the web….which is basically the only thing I use it for. I would never have bought it; it was a gift. Tried to return it, but felt rude pushing it. Best use for it is has been to just let the kids use it for games.

    • Majere989

How do we know your not Steve Jobs you Apple fanboy? :P

      • Leroy1983

That's exactly what I'm talking about, I asked a simple question u gotta say some fanboy non sense. Not every person that own idevices is a fanboy & not every android owner is a fanboy. I like tech stuff & I'm just asking a question.

        • kellex

          Ignore Jo. I responded. :P

        • jo

          I was joking

    • kellex

Cameras, expandable storage, AMOLED screen, better size, weighs less, more RAM, Flash 10.1, and GPS in all models. It's pretty clear to me.

The one thing the iPad has is a pimp App store. That's it. Obviously some of that is opinion, but it's not even a fair fight to me.

      • DROID-X-FTW

Not looking to start any sort of argument but some might be debating between this and the ipad and you are kinda summing it into just a better app store but that is really not the case… Before i start let me say all my phones have been droid since the droid 1 came out, now onto a droid x.

The flash for android is pretty solid, but on 3g it’s really not that fun waiting for it to buffer. The ipad has wayyy more apps with video quality optimized and work way better than watching flash and drain way less battery. The netflix app is one of the greatest app every created for anything, i dont know how many thousands of movies, shows, stand up, documentaries, you name it that work GREAT w/ my droid x’s wifi thether. Netflix is also growing really fast but thats enough about netflix.

For sports you can’t doubt the ipad is far superior. For Baseball they have a mlb.tv which streams video quality as good as my freakin’ TV! For Football they have the direct TV sunday ticket up, im not a DTV customer so idk how great that app is, but if it’s half way good as the mlb.tv app it’s a winner. Pretty sure they have a nba app also but i am not a nba fan so im not really sure.

Im not a big game fan but the ipad has way more and better games.

Don’t get me wrong tho, im not one of those apple fanboys saying flash isn’t important but for 3g speed i think i would prefer the ipad apps over flash.

Speaking of apps, apple app devs had to remake all apps and re-size them in HD for ipad, wont droid devs have to do the same?? If the android tablets don’t go on a huge roll like the ipad did, i don’t see it being profitable for droid devs…

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Shanklin/100000620941274 Ryan Shanklin

All you mentioned was how certain apps are better on the I*ad, which is what kellex said is a good thing about it. What is the argument about? Cause you just summed it up as a better app store also.

        • Anonymous

“For sports you can’t doubt the ipad is far superior. For Baseball they have a mlb.tv which streams video quality as good as my freakin’ TV! Droid Does those apps. MLB At Bat now has live games for the playoffs. DirecTV superfan has been available for Androids since last season. Also, something that Droid Does, but iPad doesnt is the NFL APP (exclusive to VZW) which allows constant streaming of NFL Network, Red Zone Channel on Sunday, and All Thursday Night Games and Sunday Night Games.

So, for us sports fans, I would disagree with you. Android is equal if not better than you iPad.

I forgot to mention that NHL GameCenter will be available for Android offering Live Video of Games, Live Radio, and Live Stats.

        Agreed

      • ericsorensen

I would add – it also has real USB and HDMI connectivity.

      • Leroy1983

Ok, but do u think the average person will care about that. I have a iPad, go ahead call me a fanboy & not once have I missed flash on it. And also let's this not be a tech spec war, because average consumer can give a rats ass about that. How the software, how does it work w/ apps. That's the real question. And if I was samsung I would wait until gingerbread comes out & then realize a tablet. Because it looks like they created this thing in no time what so ever

        • 2ceedz

Hate to say it, but the tech specs DO actually really matter, whether you ‘want’ to know them or not. The cpu/ram will decide how fast it will be, and (for the most part) the life cycle of the device.

So to me, the specs are the most important part. I.E. : Why by a mac with dual core cpu, when you could get a windows box with 4 times the Ram and quad core cpu for the same price?… Meaning my windows box will be faster/more reliable/and be ‘up to date’ longer then the underspec’d mac.

          Just my opinion.

        • Anonymous

Btw, I do appreciate the pleasant conversation. Ignore the flaming. And I’m with 2ceedz, specs DO matter. RAM is a huge deal, look at the difference between a Droid 1 and a Droid X? You’ve got to give consumers a little more credit than that. We’re not asking which one will sell more, I’m saying which one is the better product. In my opinion of course. :P

          • Username

Will Droid-Life be getting one of these, or waiting for a possible droid tablet (or both ;-))

          • Username

And yes, specs do matter to consumer, look at the blackberry storm.

          • Anonymous

Not necessarily Kellex the iphone is only clocked at about 800mhz.. while most phones that just came out are at a beefy 1ghz and those 1ghz phones still lag..don’t lie you use launcher pro on your x because the regular one lags lol.. I’ve seen no complaints on the iphone/iPad side about lag. The UI isn’t completely boring either its not just ipod touch/ip4 os.. its different, that’s why they haven’t updated it to ios4 yet.

You can have beefy specs that makes us nerds drool but you have to optimize the os to back it up. The only company I’ve seen do this was HTC.. Samsung jumped the gun that’s why im not buying this I have most of these features already on my Android device this will just give me a bigger screen.. 2.2 isn’t optimized for tablets.

I ain’t trollin but you can’t say something wins based on specs.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Shanklin/100000620941274 Ryan Shanklin

He was talking about RAM Not what the cpu is clocked at. Until recently you couldnt even listen to music on your I*ad and browse the internet. Only if you have the new update. That is so trivial, who makes software that limits you like that?

          • Anonymous

Ok, now your just making stuff up. You can listen to music & browse the web at the same time. U just can’t do it w/ pandora for now, next month you will. That’s the only thing I like about multitasking is the audio. As far as everything else why do I need every app to run in the background the screen is to small it’s not like I can see it. If it pauses where I was at when I go to another app or I close it out is cool.

          • Anonymous

Okay? But my point was that Apple can afford to slack hardware wise and still create a hit because the os works well. You guys are suggesting that the galaxy tab wins flat out because the specs are better.. but it fails os wise.. what would be the difference if I just had a Samsung fascinate? a larger screen and another camera?.. what was changed in the os to make it unique? nothing at all. And please don’t play that card .. Android couldn’t always do the things it does now..I know.. I’ve been here since the g1 days.

          • Anonymous

imo, lag is something I can live with (we’re talking less than one second of screen lag) whereas lack of a camera or removable storage is something I’d rather not. The apps for the I*ad are better, and that’s the only thing that matters… I’m not even sure how you are comparing OSes since it’s the features that define them and the only superior feature you’ve mentioned is screen lag, which is less than one second on my DX. Personally, I don’t see how you can keep a straight face saying you don’t miss flash…

          • Anonymous

? Don’t remember saying anything about flash. All I’ve been saying is this isn’t a very good competitor to the iPad, maybe the ones that are in the works by MOTO and HTC but not this, I don’t even own an iPad. This is a big galaxy s device running the same thing that you and I are running on our phones presently .. and really? what’s the point of a camera on this? you’re really gonna whip this out in public and start taking landscape shots? Reaaally?

          • Anonymous

Who said they kept a straight face? It’s the internetz :D.

          • http://www.facebook.com/kkj.droid Kenny Jackson

Also, I watch South Park on my DInc, it works quite well considering I don’t have a mouse. Kinda sucks on 1X, but on 3G it’s about a 10-second buffer before the 25-minute episode starts.

          • http://www.facebook.com/kkj.droid Kenny Jackson

DROID X lag is just BLUR sucking as usual. Sense on the Incredible flies, even unrooted and at the stock clock. And the iOS UI is quite boring, it’s just a bunch of app icons, all the same size and shape, aligned in a regular grid across a background. No widgets whatsoever.

          • Anonymous

Yeah I know I have an incredible, the os is optimized that was my point lol. I don’t have an iPad by the way I just know this tab isn’t a worthy competitor to it.

        • http://twitter.com/mfg68 Matt Galo

Ahem…you obviously do not have any mobile devices with Flash because once you DO get it, you would never want to be without it. I watch a lot of film trailers that are embedded in film blogs and with Flash on my Droid X I can watch them. On my iPod touch I can’t…at all.

You keep talking about the average person but I think you’re talking about the average grandparents. Most consumers, nowadays, are educated when they go to buy something. And yes, we are going to factor in the cameras because, according to your logic, the average consumer would see a Tab with two cameras and say “Wow! I can Skype with someone!” The size is also a factor for the “average consumer”. Face it, the iPad is a heavy piece of glass (a very nice one, at that), and the Tab is much easier to hold and handle in size. That will be a factor for sure.

As for Gingerbread, I’m sure it will be upgradeable to that OS. But, the “average consumer” doesn’t even know what Gingerbread is, do they? Yet you bring it up as an argument.

          Lawyered.

          • Anonymous

what im saying is software plays a big part in mobile devices. thats what make it fast. all that tech specs is good but it shouldnt be a selling point when i go into a wireless carrier store. and yes i am talking about the avergae consumer because only tech geeks care about for phones. computers is a different story becuase if u a video editor, photographer u need to know the tech specs for desktops and for laptops.

          • http://twitter.com/mfg68 Matt Galo

Well, if the average consumer is not smart enough to want an Android tablet, then why are Android phones selling like effing hotcakes?

And how are tech specs NOT a selling point when you walk into a wireless store? An average consumer walks into a store. Salesman says, “This Tab has two cameras on it.” Consumer: “Does the iPad have any?” Salesman: “No, not yet.” What do you think is going to happen? You keep talking about software, well, obviously the Android OS is good enough to pass iOS. And rest assured, the “average consumer” is part of that percentage. Us tech geeks can’t buy THAT many phones.

          • Yoursilly

The reason there is no lag on the *phone is because you can not customize it with new launchers and UI from the developer world. With the iphone you get what you see when you open the box I am sorry but using lag as a con for a droid is stupid because then i could say the reason i phone dont lag is because you cannot push it to its limits so if i get to have a little lag because im trying different roms Ill take that over a boring iphone which all yo could do is dl apps and look at content where I can customize my whole droid exp booyahh

        • CommonSense

WE all knew you had an iPad.
If you are trying to tell us that just because Apple’s OS is

“So Fluid” it somehow warrants or commands an insane mark-up, you may be a fanboy.

Since you don’t have flash you miss out on amazing sites.
You can only appreciate in your iPad what Steve Jobs has allowed you to experience.

^^^THIS reason alone is why intelligent people haven’t purchased an iPad.

Let’s not forget the “masses” don’t care (as you have just stated) about specifications
because the “masses” are clueless. The masses need to be told what they need
and how to use it. -Nuff said-

The clear winner is the intelligent consumer who wants a tablet that does MORE
than what was allowed to maximize profit margins while shorting the consumer.

In the end, YOU lost out on many features because you feel your Chinese lead painted
device is a shinier Chinese lead painted device.

In other words you bought into a beautifully crafted marketing ploy that detracts
consumers from thinking they should be able to get a tablet that can replace a laptop/netbook…
Instead you have a niche device that doesn’t replace anything, and aside from an already
miniature established Ipod Touch that already DOES what its giant counterpart does…

I’d say you got taken for a ride, but at least you enjoyed it…

          • Anonymous

I can care less about Stevie, he doesn’t dictate what I buy. I’m just stating the obvious. Specs are good but at the end of the day it’s about the software. And what exiting flash sites am I missing. And if a iPad is nothing but a giant iPod touch, what the hell is the galaxy tab…a giant nexus one. I don’t hate android, but I do hAte when these manufactures take something that don’t know dick about software & rush a device out just to say they have one too. But it seems like u hate apple the way Harry potter hates the dark lord, it’s just a tech company get over your self

to add to this it runs the android operating system thats a big one to me

    • futurecop

why would the average consumer not care about specs?? Would a car buyer wanna know the engine…ya. All people who buy “i” anything do only because of brand recognition. It's like saying Toyotas are the best cars on the road….it makes no sense not to look at specs. Camera, flash, more responsive touch screen, better screen materials, and Android OS is the number 1 operating system on personal devices for a reason, the level of customizability is beyond anything offered by another company. That's why Droids have insane amounts of ways you can customize a home screen and apple is still doing a basic app screen. While I wouldn't get a tablet this small i would definately never buy Apple again, especially for how expensive their products are. With tech toys the specs mean everything.

I’ve worked in a auto Parts & auto shop for 6 years. And u be surprised how many people that didn’t know what kind of engine they had or even knew what year it was. I’m sorry but I’m not buying that.

        • Mr.Joe

Specs aren’t the first thing to pop into the “average” consumer mind but it does make it’s way eventually. The only people who don’t give a damn about specs are people who’s only requirement is a logo.

    • android

first of all this is way faster than the ipad.. i pad you cannot do nothing with it. no customization, no flash player no camera no usb no sd card the amoled screen is better its smaller light weight. you can do “face time” you can talk on the phone. you can do watever you want with this.. this is what you gonna get close to a pc

      • Leroy1983

If u cannot do nothing w/ it then why is it selling? Brand recognition does have something to do with it, because it's a brand people are familiar. But people also look at ease of use, battery, & most importantly APPS. Netflix, abc player, my brother is an artist so he uses brushes & sketchbook, HULU which u don't need flash for, yea it's $9 a month but big deal we waste more money going to taco bell. Hell, even porn sites on safari works just fine, pornhub.com & xvideos, lmao yea we all look at them.

    • DROITORDROID?

Well, it has websites in full flash 10.1 that can teach you grammer and spelling. Perhaps you should check those out….

The biggest feature for me is the 7in size. The IPAD is too big, you might as well carry a netbook. Also you won’t have to sync through itunes, which can be a pain. I currently use an Archos 7 (which I understand is not as powerful or up-to-date as either models mentioned). Archos has a much larger storage capacity (not the current gen, but the previous). I would like to see the android tab with more memory cuz I put tons of movies on my archos when I travel and don’t like to constantly switch them out. Regardless I am getting an android tab to replace the archos when it comes in wifi model.

      • Droiddoes

I agree. The people I see with IPADs all seem to want everyone to see what they are playing or watching. We get it you have a n IPAD you’re awesome. The smaller screen size is great for portability and privacy!!!

        • Droidless

I second that, sort of. I don’t want people always watching what I am doing so the screen size is an issue. I am constantly turning mine away from peering eyes.

Why did you post the same name us original poster?

Alright Guys, here it is… Coming from someone who has worked in retail for way to long… here is the answer… which device is better? i*ad or samsung pad? both and neither… Each person has the device that will better suit their needs… some, which I will be sad to say, will be the i*ad, and other’s the Samsung tab…

to answer some of the questions and incorrect statements already posted: YES, specs matter, not to everyone, but they simply do… why? because with limited specs comes limited software… not that software cannot limit hardware, but software can be changed pretty easy, hardware on this type of device cannot be changed… so, having expandable memory and a camera do put this a step ahead, in SOME cases… not everyone will need more memory, and not everyone will need a camera…

those who will need a camera: buisness users who are putting a car/house/boat/item on a website that don’t want to have to use their PC, bluetooth transfer it, e-mail it or text it to their tab… to scan a barcode, whether it to be a VIN number on a car or a new app to download… remember, the camera can do more than take a picture now!

SpecsDOES matter… do you see the Droid Eris getting a 2.2 update anytime soon? NO, why? the SPECS don’t allow it to… at some point when the i*ad two comes out and it does something your i*ad one can’t just because you don’t have a fast enough processor or ram… won’t you want to buy the new one? duh… yeah, you will… kind of how the i*hone 3g couldn’t get the most recient update cuz only the 3GS and i*hone 4 had the hardware to run it!…

multi tasking: some people will use it, some wont… I personally LOVE that my droid’s software allows it so apps can use other apps… that’s called multi-tasking… some people will use it… some wont… it allows for apps to be smaller because you wont have to have 3 apps have an entire maps application built in because they can all access the maps app already on your phone… some will people be just fine without this…

the network availibility… AT&T has great 3G coverage in some states/cities and not so much in others… having the option of Verizon Wireless/T-mobile/Sprint or other carriers makes it more appealing for some… if you live/ed in PDX like Kellex does and I used to, everyone knows that you lose reception driving down HWY 26 to the beach… unless you have VZW… so the people playing with their i*ads have to use apps that don’t use the net or have their buddy with a rooted Droid turn it into a wifi hotspot for them…

Obviously I’m a Droid guy not an apple fan…

BUT for everyone who asked, “this is just a big galaxy S” well yeah, and the i*ad is just a big iTouch, isn’t it?…

look, the i*ad will have some apps that only the appstore will have… if you want/need THOSE apps, the i*ad is for you… if you don’t care about multi-tasking and want the thing to run smothly because it limits the software so it never pushes the hardware, get the i*ad… this will be appealing for light to average users or those who care more about lagg when opening an app than someone who wants to be able to have more options on their device…

saying specs don’t matter? tell that to a guy who’s trying to pull a boat with his new civic that said, “specs don’t matter”… they told him it didn’t have the torque… but specs didn’t matter… now he’s stuck going 20mph up a hill trying to pull his boat… for someone without a boat? yes the savings on gas makes sense to get a car that could NEVER pull a boat… if you don’t have a boat, and never plan on getting a boat… then yes, get the civic… which is better? the car or the truck? depends on the person, now doesn’t it…

so there you go… they’re both great devices… one with more abundant and more polished apps with a UI everyone is used to, and the other with more possiblities if you’re the type to use them…

eh.. not really seeing much of a reason to get this… There are already phone with much better specs and unfortunately this needs to be said: The main thing that is holding this thing back is: Android! Ackkkk!!!

What I mean is that I'm waiting for Gingerbread/Honeycomb to be released and have an OS that's actually tailored for a tablet. Other than a nice big screen, I really don't see any use in picking one of these up at the moment.

  • eryk

icons, keyboard, browser look way to similar to the i*ad

  • http://perpetualn00b.tumblr.com quiklives

    It's bee-yoo-tee-full.

But I'll wait for an LTE tablet unless this one shows up under the tree or something.

  • Chris Nimon

wouldnt he have to long press on the video to get full screen like the rest of us?

  • db17k

I've already played with it, meh, the HD video playback sucks. It's like a big version of my Droid X.

    • Xeneize480

I have DX and my wife has Samsung Galaxy Fascinate and the Super AMOLED smokes my DX. I don't see your point. I love my DX but samsung is wining that area with the screen.

      • Anonymous

The screen of the galaxy tab is lcd because it was too expensive to use amoled

  • Xeneize480

watch out Iphat hahahaha… Android is about to eat that apple again, bad bad bad!!
