A lot of music player talk lately has been about Winamp when it should have been about this app called PowerAMP.  From what I can tell it has been out for almost a week now and should be on everyone’s short list of apps to try this Halloween weekend.  I sat down with it for just a couple of minutes and tweaked enough settings on one track to feel like a true mixmaster.  

You had to figure this news was coming either this week or next week as we await the launching of the Droid 2 Global November 11th, but it’s still sort of sad.  According to Best Buy, the phone has already been removed from many store displays and their inventory systems have flagged it as “Discontinued.”  The original Droid 2 was the follow-up to arguably the greatest Android phone ever and just never really stood a chance.  The Droid X launched weeks before it, specs leaked out showing only slight improvements, and then the global version with a higher clocked processor started prancing around in the wild showing off a shiny new white exterior.

It seems like just yesterday that we brought you the first shots of the Droid 2, and now it’s already gone.  Poor out some OJ for one of our brothers this Halloween weekend.

Two versions of the Droid 2 Global headed to Big Red on November 11th?  That’s what Verizon’s rebate system says which leads us to believe it will launch with both white and blue versions.  Not everyone is a fan of white phones, so giving them an option for the blue look of the original D2 is a smart idea.  Of course this could also mean that a camera-less D2 Global is on the way to sit alongside the Droid Pro.  I guess we’ll know in 2 weeks.

The new CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1 has been released for a few phones, but most notably, the original Droid.  For those of us still milking every last drop of awesomeness from this device, you’ll be excited to see what’s in store for this latest version of CM.  It now includes the Galaxy S style power widget in the notification bar plus a ton of customized camera additions.  

We couldn’t help ourselves with this one.  The creator of the “banned” Apple products series has come back with a new rendition featuring the hot topic of the enemy world, the white i*hone 4.  These videos are classics and I’m telling you that almost any Android lover will get at least a few chuckles from this one and it also helps that the guy behind this awesomeness reads our site on a daily basis.  It makes our list today because of the Droid 2 mention at the 2:20 mark.  It apparently “does”…  

The Powermat for the Droid X came out this week and already seems to be getting some bad press.  A couple of our readers were quick to run out and grab one once they heard it was available and came back with some not-so-exciting remarks.  Brian actually went through 2 different, brand new, Powermats and even with the help of the Best Buy Mobile rep, could not get the battery cover to stick.  Normally I would just roll my eyes at Brian (cheap shot!), but then we received the video below from reader Kane who demonstrates the awkwardness of the cover.  You can see in his video that the battery door not only has a weird nub hanging off the side, but also refuses to stay completely closed.  Unfortunate.
