Want More of the DROID 2 Global? New Pictures Appear in a Car

We brought you the first look of the Droid 2 Global last week with some super crisp and clear shots, but today, an entirely new batch has popped up via AndroidSpin.  There aren’t a lot of new details since we already showed you that it runs at 1.2GHz and pumps out ridiculous benchmarks, but you do get to see the SIM card and a few additional shot angles.  Now if only a last minute change would include a 4″ screen, we’d buy it!

More shots after the break.

I want to buy a smart phone, for a smart investor. I want the very best, and I’m willing to pay a high price… but I’m not willing to buy a smartphone, that is always locked to one carrier. That’s simply dumb. And I do not want yesterdays model, I want the best there is available today. So these carriers are hurting themselves. As well as the manufactures. I don’t mind contracting for service… but I will not simply throw away $200.00 to $700.00 dollars on a phone that’s locked to one carrier.

I hope they bring a Droid smartphone with all the bells and whistles, and provide dual band, CDMA/GSM with multi reader sim slot. Just load it with everything… and I’ll be the very first to buy one. At full price.

    5mp camera? No thanks,

  • JoesCAL5467

    Same 5mp camera… lame

i was going to get the merge/lexikon but since its not a droid its a no go. So i guess this will be my droid replacement even though the keyboard is crappy still. I gotta have my root comm.

1.2 GHz and SIM card does it for me. When is it suppose to launch?

  • BasilofBakerStreet

What does it say next to verizon? on the bottom left of the screen.

  • Bjamin82

Release Date would be Nice! I heard sometime in October, but no conformation.

  • Cjreyes666

This is the type of phone im lookin for specially for my bussiness trips out of the states.

  • The Droid2 is definitely starting to grow on me……But I can't put my finger on what I like about it. I can say it isn't the white on the back. Maybe because it is global so now I have another option to the blackberry while in Europe. Can't wait to see this thing in person.

  • If look look where the sim is in that phone and look a the back of the D2 it looks like there could be a slot in the same place. This was probably planned before the release of the actual D2.

    • Fawzi94

The original droid has a spot for it too. It's the same phone as the milestone except the milestone has the simcard reading hardware

  • Plzachar

You hit the nail right on the head! Give me a 4″ screen and I'll buy it. Wont' buy it though with the current 3.7″ screen.

next year will be tegra 2 phones possibly….my OG Droid with some fancy schmancy ROMage will be good til then…but I love the looks of this

  • syrinth

So can you not take any other droid out od the usa is that why they have this one????

    • The350zWolf

There are a few countries that you can take a VZW phone and it will work, you just have to let VZW know and they activate the service, but caveat emptor, you'll get charged a premium. The nice thing about the SIM –assuming that the phone SIM feature is unlocked– is that you just go to the country you travel to, purchase a local SIM with talk minutes and data and you are good to go

So far for me this seems like a possible D1 replacement for the future but i hope its not the only choice when my contracts up… better processor makes me happy but its tough trying to figure out what will take the place of my baby down the road. Got potential but aweful weird glimmer from the frame of this thing

  • Bmtbandit

Just need a release date. Can't wait to be able to switch from my Storm 2 to one of these.

    • I'm anxious for a release date too, as well as a price. How much more will we have to pay for the world version?

My NewEvery2 date is Nov 12 and I'm counting down to ditching my blackberry!

      • Bmtbandit

My guess is it will be the same as the R2D2.

        • The350zWolf

Your guess is same price or same release date? I suppose you mean price since the R2D2 is already out

      • CalypsoArt

Same here. I'm still using the BB Storm 1. The worst smart phone ever–except that I can use it locally overseas.

  • the white would make me want to not pull out my phone ever or wrap it up and never use it. too fancy shmansy. i would be so nervous of even just sitting it down anywhere.

  • Is that vanilla Android UI I see, or am I mistaken?

    • Mrpicolas

      I. Believe that's blur I don't see ui changes just for 1 phone

    • nope still blurred up. sorry.

    • Sn1p3r6992

      I wish =(

    • kellex

      Its Blur unfortunately.

  • Chris G

I'd upgrade my D1 to this if I could prove the sim card could be unlocked. An open sim slot on the road and VZ at home in the same device would be ideal.

Do we have details of the GSM freqs in this thing yet?

  • Zero

    Dual Core or Bust. >=(

    • KleenDroid

What will dual core do you for?

      • The350zWolf

        Better multitasking

      • Michael_NM

I can't speak for Zero, but dual core will make me drool.

      • faster speeds, better battery consumption. simple really

  • Cyberdemon

    Ahhh, 1 beat away 🙂

  • Woot!
