DROID 2 has Lowest Return and Dropped Call Rates on Verizon?

Looks like the Motorola Droid 2 is a winner in build quality even if early sales numbers indicate it could have used a bigger marketing push.  According to a BGR source, the D2 has the lowest return rate of any phone on Verizon and is also leading the way with the lowest number of dropped calls.  So much for that weird signal strength issue?

Flash works well, and everything is faster on the internet. Music sounds better through the same earphones.

It seems from the details that a number of people are happy with the DROID 2 and wont be returning it any time soon…Thanks

Well Is this article a bit too soon, yes, absolutely, but without knowing the numbers for each phone that it is being compared to, we can’t really react too much to this article- let it pass. Thanks for sharing with us…

not as good as the first one

  • Dustinmmmmj

They should have launched dx with froyo…

  • Justin

How do they get these figures? The phone is barely out…

  • Rodys7

Too bad i'm getting another D1 as a replacement instead of the D2…. lol

    Unless the email is lying…

  • Mjm1996

    I'm at verizon

  • KleenDroid

I am a recent recipient of a Droid 2 as a replacement for my Droid 1.

I loved my D1, but I must admit that the D2 is superior! It is faster and almost everything works better.

I no longer have people complain of my call quality. Flash works well, and everything is faster on the internet. Music sounds better through the same earphones. I have a stronger signal, and the list could go on and on.

They should unlock the bootloader and replace all the Droid 1's with 2's.

Too bad i'm getting another D1 as a replacement instead of the D2…. lol

      • theDueper

they will replace your d1 w/ d2 it is poss….when you call cs just be sincere if your still experiencing problems and most do not threaten to terminate service all they will is send you to a different person that will warn about the contract break fee!!! lol……i use the D1 for business, my D1 was overheating and randomly rebooting the instant i would receive phone calls…it would of been my third one but i explained to them that i was loosing money because of this issue she first denied the change, then told she would give me an early upgrade for 2 year price..i told that the phone already cost me to much money and that i want to escalate to her manager she put me hold then told while we where waiting that she would send me a D2 as a replacement b/c the D1 has been”PHASED OUT” so good luck and stick to your word

  • Bmedic1999

My phone rocks. It truly is a beast.

  • eddieonofre

Drop Calls?? that only happens on the Universe of i*hone and its antenagate theory (and some blame to crapy AT&shit)

  • Mrpicolas

This is because everyone returned the hd and got this as a replacement

    • imrf

Not everyone. My D1 has a busted power button, they replaced it with a D1 on Friday and that is constantly FCing and rebooting on me. Hopefully this next phone is going to be a D2. They all said that this time it should be.

      • Mrpicolas

Good luck its still kinda hit or miss

    • http://www.facebook.com/levi.schroeder Levi Schroeder

Not everyone, I'll take my D1 over the D2 any day!

      • jiggaman508

I just got a D2 as a replacement last wk and i like it but I really miss flashing roms : (

    • drathos

I returned a faulty D1 (dying touchscreen) and was sent a D2. Now I'm returning that to get a D1. If I get stuck in a replacement loop with bad refurbs like I've seen on various forums, I'm going to request “anything but a Motorola.”

Blur sucks. It's not worth the incremental hardware upgrade to have to deal with that crap.

      • Mrpicolas

Blur does have its drawbacks but is a good effort in trying to tie services

together but I will have to say sense does it better and given the offerings

we have had from facebook I would use blur or sense before the facebook app

        • drathos

In the week that I have had the D2, I've been almost constantly butting into shortcomings in Blur, especially with the contacts management. Both my work and personal email are through Google (Google Apps and Gmail, respectively), but it won't pull down my contacts correctly. It ignores the contact groups you can set up, but doesn't even pull everything. And it's inconsistent between the Contacts app and the Dialer app – there's contacts that show up in one but not the other. I also made the mistake of using their Facebook account sign in to try to pull in info for my other contacts like I had done on my D1, but instead it flooded my contacts with every Facebook friend. Once I got that cleaned up, I tried to use the official Facebook app to do it (it added a second “Facebook” entry into the account selection), but it won't work with Blur's account management.

If Motorola wants to differentiate themselves from everyone else (and let's face it, that's why everyone has to have their own customizations), they should do it by dropping Blur and being the only vendor dedicate to a pure Android experience. Or, failing that, they should enhance the standard apps instead of writing whole new ones. They have the source, after all. Not Invented Here Syndrome is an evil disease.

  • tbaybe

That's amazing. I've never had a dropped call on my d 1 either

  • MOTOX

Not true, the droid x is a true competitor, but i have to say if i didn't buy it, yah id might have been swayed by already having 2.2. Considering i have to go back to 2.1 now. But the droid 2 is solid anyways.

  • Diesel

Everyone is talking about the D2, so does that mean the DX is trash?

    • kellex

Hah far from it. It just needs 2.2, soon.

      • richlizard24

It needed 2.2 about a week ago.

    • tbaybe

Talk about new phones happens everytime a new one comes out… I remeber how it used to feel!

  • DennisthemennisN

wouldnt this be the lowest return of the Droid family because there is less of them out there? Considering that the D1, DI, and DX have been out for a while. Not like the D2 was some major hit to the market that it is sold out everywhere like the DX…

    • kellex

      My thoughts exactly. :)

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=710530141 Tyler Buchanan

Lowest return RATE. Meaning, returns/units sold.

        • DennisthemennisN

Okay how does that change what I said before? It still is the least phone sold. Its like item A has 100 items with 50 returned for a 50% return rate. Item B has 20 with 9 returns. Item B has lowest return rate! but uh.. what if by the time it matches Item A, it has 51 returns. Not the lowest anymore now is it?

          • Mathenk2

Yeah, but couldn't this just as easily go the other way? Using your example, Item A has 100 items with 50 returns for a 50% return rate. Item B has 20 with 15 returns. Item B has a HIGHER return rate!

Is this article a bit too soon, yes, absolutely, but without knowing the numbers for each phone that it is being compared to, we can't really react too much to this article- let it pass.

          • DennisthemennisN

You could use it the other way but we are trying to find the lowest rate. In any case what they should do is find an appropriate average to compare to rather than comparing current numbers. The only thing that my example is missing is time. If you used time as an average for lets say 1 month, then compared it on that basis the answer would be a clear approximate.

Yes, I would have to agree the article is too early for any accurate declaration.

          • Mathenk2

Agreed. It would be nice to see a time frame along with other phones return rates side-by-side. That would be a much clearer article. How about a follow-up article Kleenex?

          • KleenDroid

All I can say is that I can understand why the Droid2 is not being returned. Especially if owned by someone that had a Droid1….. The Droid2 is a much better phone. I LOVED my Droid1 but I can't believe how much happier I am with the 2. It is amazing how much longer my Droid2 battery lasts while doing almost everything better. I understand those with a D1 bashing the 2 with it's Blur and locked bootloader cause I was one of them…. until I got my 2! It seems as if Android 2.2 and Flash were designed for the Droid2. I like parts of what Blur does but I wish I had more control over it. I also would like to get rid of some of the software that is not needed. I am sure I will be looking in to rooting and the bootstrap and custom roms when it is all ironed out. But for now the 2 is an awesome phone, and I would suggest those with the 1 should give it a try… you might be surprised! An overclocked D1 does not equal a D2.

I am very sad to box up my D1 for shipment back. It held it's own and will always have a place in my heart… :) However I am sure it will be shipped out to a nice new home in the future after it gets a going over. I just hope it doesn't end up in some dummies hand that doesn't know how to appreciate it!

      • JackDroid

kellex, can you release that droid life wallpaper? the one that every video has now. just white lettering and black background, i REALLY want it. huge droid life fan, thanks

    • Paul

I would imagine that with everybody locked in to their 2 year contracts with the Drod 1, DINC, Droid X, and other Droids that would only leave people that are eligible for an upgrade to get this phone unless some people want to pay full price which most people won't do….the droid 2 numbers will catch up soon!! just a matter of time they have had plenty of ad's out there for it.

  • eddieonofre

is there any chance can dissasenble a D@ and take out the procesor and put it on my d!????

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000723233001 Michael Welborn

      Sure! Just overclock it! :-D

The ram, however, is a different story.

      • eddieonofre

I know but If I can get the D2 CPU I can overclock it even higher…
and yeah if I could port the ram that could be even better
but could be even easier if Moto wouldnt lock the D2
