LauncherPro Plus Update Adds Twitter Widget

Another LauncherPro Plus update was released yesterday and includes a fabulous new Twitter Widget.  As you can see from the shot above, it matches the styling of the rest of the LP widget series and is definitely winner.  This new widget allows you to add one account, follow your main stream, see mentions, direct messages and even create new tweets.  All of the same features most of the major Twitter apps haven’t figured out how to do yet.  Not bad right?

Head over to the LauncherPro site now to check out the full change log.

Umm. It IS in the android market, dude. That's how I update it.

  • dave

I've had launcher pro for awhile but since it isn't in the app store I don't know how to update it. Any help out there?

    Kellex,

Where can I get those icons? I've got some similar ones, but it's not the same.. I'm especially interested in that App Drawer icon.

  • Czechm8

I've been using Launcher Pro for some time and love it.
But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to buy the Plus version. Is it in the market? I thought I read something about paying the developer through PayPal.
    Can someone enlighten me?

    Thanks.

    • Czechm8

I figured it out. Found the link!

  • David

what app is running that has the android bug icon?

  • TMB

Launcherpro Plus is the best of the best…nothing comes close. It's Christmas whenever I get an update.

  • HEIF

    LauncherPro is crashing now….. strange

  • Rain_king46

The LP app is the best money I have ever spent. Love the new Twitter widget. Dear LP developers, if you wanted to create a Facebook widget next, I would not be upset. and/or maybe a nice news reader widget?. ;) Moto should really take some hints from the boys at LP when they are creating their next version of blur.

    • eyesparky

According to the developer's blog a facebook widget is next and then a combined friendstream style widget.

  • Dguest

It keep nagging about logging in, and I don't even use the twitter widget!!!

  • Dapenguin77

LauncherPro is amazing. Every update is full of win.

  • Raj bhatt

I love the launcher pro plus widgets, but on this twitter widget I wish you could click hyper links in people’s tweets. Gonna have to stick to the stock widget for now

  • WayneGrayson

Does anyone have a link to those plain text icons? I've been looking for days and can't find them.

  • webmatt01

    What LauncherPro theme is that?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10215724 Raj Bhatt

You can't click hyperlinks in people's tweets with this widget. Gonna have to stick to the stock widget for now.

    • eyesparky

He did another quick update to include hyperlinks ;)

  • Jeffreymeyer99

I prefer pure messenger because it adds all the social networks and gmail and email all in one widget. I love launcherpro and the Widgets but there are just to many for the 7 screens. If he makes a all in one widget I'm down but for now its a great home replacement and love the bookmark and calendar Widgets

  • Dan

Federico for president? Or should it be Federico para presidente? :p

    Vamos, Uruguay!

  • jk8

I can't be the only over-40 Droid owner out there – the widget looks great, but the type is so small on my screen that I can't even read it without putting on my reading glasses. I need a phone the size of the screen shot above.

    • http://parker-cs.com/MediaManager.aspx Kwparker80

That would be the Droid X. Next time you are out shopping, stop somewhere and look at one. Makes the original Droid look tiny.

  • replicant

What launcher is he using the picture? (it has the Phone Call, Google Mail. Message Text and Browser Net instead of icons)

    • MuddyB00ts

well the story is about launcher pro adding this widget, so of course it's launcher pro. (only plus users get the widgets) You can replace the dock and icons with absolutely anything you want. I have a folder of those simple text icons and if I can find a link I'll post. :)

      • Flyinion

Someone also posted a nice .psd Photshop template in the dock thread at the Launcher Pro forums so you can easily make any custom text icons you want. If you don't have Photoshop or something else that can deal with .psd file but if you do have Fireworks, he also posted a .png version that is set for Fireworks to be able to change the text fields (loading it in Photoshop you can't do it). It looks similar to the ones in this article except the top row is the bigger text and the bottom row is smaller font size.

    • replicant

anyone know which icon pack that is?

  • Matt

hey guys i put this in the forum last night but haven't got any help yet so ill drop it in here…..
i have to take my phone back to verizon tomorrow because i am having some issues with my microphone not working. i am currently rooted and was wondering what was the best way to go about the situation. should i just unroot with easy root and then do a factory reset. and then after i activate it do i need to go in and uninstall all of my rooted apps? any help would be greatly appreciated. i just got off work and am going to bed, ill check back when i get up. thanks again

    • MuddyB00ts

I doubt more than 1 in 10 verizon employees is aware of what rooting is. I would honestly try just flashing a stock looking rom, and hide any root apps in the app drawer. My screen was coming loose a while back and I did this and they didn't even look twice at it, they just gave me a new one.

      • Matt

do i not need to get back to stock 2.2 though. i rooted from 2.1. i just assumed they would go and see what firmware version i was running and the build number and they would know something was up

come on, droid fans unite! doesnt this piss anyone else off

I don't know why some people get so upset over having their work copied, to me it is a compliment when someone likes something I've done well enough to want to do the same thing. As long as it is not an Identical copy, that is.

I would love to use the Twitter widget (in fact I did for about 30 minutes or so)…but then I ready the change log on the Launcher Pro website and it said that right now it is locked to refresh at every 15 minutes. I'm sure that will kill quite a few batteries plus I don't need to be updated *that* quickly.

    • eddieonofre

agree I should be some kind of Click To Refresh Button so u refresh it when u need…. that is the way I use twitter myself.. So i dont have a service running in the background using battery

      • Serqet

There is a click to refresh button. It's at the bottom of the widget (the little circular arrows) in the screen shot above. He said the refresh interval options will come soon in another update as well. I've been running the widget since he added it last night and have seen zero change in battery life vs the official Twitter widget I was running before at a higher interval.

        • JagoX

I know about the refresh button (its on all the LP widgets) but I would still prefer to have the ability to modify that refresh interval myself. I don't doubt that it's coming though given how fast the clickable link ability was added after the initial update.

I'm curious to see how he designs the FB widget but I'm sure it'll look pretty and give my DX an unified look :) The one white widget (the official FB widget) is kind of an eye sore ;)

Have a question, in the picture above, the dock has Google Mail which is also mentioned in the Dock Settings for Launcher Pro Plus. My question is on mines, it shows Phone, Contacts, App Launcher, Messaging, and Browser. How do I get the Google Mail to show?

    • Tevisob

Hold the icon you want to change. A box will pop up. Choose change short cut. Then select applications. From the chose the app you want. Then you can choose the icon style you want. Hope that helps.

      • http://bit.ly/9q5tuE Almighty1

Thanks, for some reason, I thought the dock was supposed to have a icon for gmail already as that's one of the dock settings.

    • RavenWulf

long press on any one of the dock icons and it gives you the option of changing it

  • Rizzidy

This is awesome. I was just thinking yesterday that I wished I had a twitter widget that looked like this.

  • Chrisss

    Launcher Pro FTW!!

    ..first?
