That’s standard business practice. You also can’t use the HTC OTA updates with a custom ROM. Which is why the functionality is disabled in custom ROMs

Well nice to know about this The latest update actually asks everyone who uses it to force a re-root. Definitely something to look into. I can’t verify anything since I maintained root, but I’d love to hear if it works for someone..thanks…

Maybe they should keep it from being leaked? It's their responsibility. Its just as much their fault as it is the end-user who installs it.

I had to do a lot of bs to get to this point but essentially this is how I got back to 2.1

I downloaded XDAdevelopers SPF file called “the gift”. Got stuck in the boot loop. Wiped cache, didn’t work, took sdcard out, didn’t work. Factory re-set, worked. I don't think ROM Manager was able to back up my settings (at least at that point) but if you are using Titanium back-up you can return to your settings/apps etc after the factory reset

Do you move the “su” file from xbin back to bin once youve installed the update? Or do you just leave it in /system/bin?

Installed 2.2 from zip file.

Got a few errors during install, but it completed

Everything seemed fine until I went to connect to PC, which will no longer recognize the Droid and keeps looking for a driver. Because of this, VCast will not sync and I can't run PdaNet.

I want to return to 2.1 and wait until the official version comes out...can anyone post instructions and links please?

Had to go back to 2.1 due to Google Calender Sync issues. From what I've found, Google is aware of the issue and “is working on it”. Seems it's been an issue for 4 weeks now which is weird cause it worked fine on my rooted 2.2 Droid 1

did u wipe ur phone before u installed them? if u didnt go into the boot loader (restart ur phone and hold the home button) then go to whip data and cache and wipe everything. reboot the phone and set everything back up again and u should be good.
