Official Verizon Blog Offers Up DROID 2 Details, August 12th Release Date Confirmed?

by: | posted 07.29.10 | News

According to shots from an official Verizon company blog (Yes, even Big Red blogs!) we have some confirmation on a few additional details for the Droid 2, plus a new rumored release date.  These shots reassure us that Android 2.2 will come pre-loaded with full Flash support, the physical keyboard has been “enhanced,” and a bundle of bloatware to boot.  Oh you don’t care?  You just want the release date info?

From 2 separate sources, we’ve heard as of today, the tentative release date for the Droid 2 remains August 12th.  Does this make sense?  It seems to.  The 12th is a Thursday and we all know that Verizon loves Thursdays plus the following week is a pretty major Adobe/Android summit which would be an ideal time to officially announce Flash.  That’s 2 weeks from today!

Oh and some additional details from the VZW blog…

Video: Full Flash 10.1 on the DROID Incredible

by: | posted 07.29.10 | News, Videos

During yesterday’s writeup of our first impressions of Android 2.2 for the Droid Incredible, we completely forgot to cover Flash 10.1.  Silly right?  After we realized this mistake, we went digging to see what we could find and were surprised to see an official Flash 10.1 build pre-installed and ready for action.

The quality of this build (v.10.1.72.7) is pretty amazing on the DI.  Check it…

With news of the EVO 4G possibly seeing this same update as early as tomorrow, should we expect it on the Incredible then as well?  And who can’t wait to see full Flash in action on the DX’s screen?  Yay!

We had heard a rumor that Best Buy stores were starting to receive shipments of Droid 2 accessories, but had yet to see proof. Well until now anyway.  As you can see from the shot above, your local BB might let you purchase accessories for the silver and blue beast weeks ahead of launch for a whoppin’ $20.99.  Any takers?

Can Verizon just announce the date already?

Cheers Mark!

DROID X Owners Missing the 3D Gallery from Stock Android? Download it Here.

by: | posted 07.29.10 | Apps, News

Not fond of the gallery application featured on your Droid X?  Doesn’t it feel like the simple 2.0.1 gallery we had back in the early Droid 1 days?  Then feel free to check out the 2.1 multi-touch gallery that was ported long ago!  Thankfully a couple of our fantastic readers reminded us of the old moneymaker and now we want to forward that reminder on to you.

So far I haven’t run into any major issues, but being a ported app, it will have some minor bugs.  But hey, at least it pulls in your Picasa albums right?
