Google: Android 2.2 FRF72 Build is Not Official

This should come as no surprise, but as you’ll see from the screenshot above, the Android 2.2 FRF72 build that was leaked out over the weekend to Nexus One owners is not official.  According to Ry Guy, a Google employee, the team is working “feverishly” on the final version and hope to have it out the door soon.

And this, is awful news for Motorola Droid users.  If Google hasn’t even put together the final build of Froyo for their precious Nexus One, then shouldn’t we expect another lengthy waiting period from Motorola and Verizon hacking away at it?  We have sources who claim that Verizon and Motorola already have Froyo and that the Droid 1 should see it before the Droid X and Droid 2 come out, but with this news today, we’re becoming less and less optimistic.

We should remind you that you can experience Froyo today by following our rooting guide which prepares your installation of Android 2.2.

Thoughts anyone?
